 + -1 moreThe guys over at Good News are really great. Professional, easy to work with, no problems whatsoever. The owner came out to inspect the job when it was done. They were all really great, can't complain at all. When we discovered that the quote I was given for the permit fee was waaaay more than we expected due to the City raising their fees, they worked a fair deal with me so I didn't have to take such a big (unplanned) hit. The guys who worked the job were incredibly clean, considerate, polite and likeable. You can tell they all take a lot of pride in their work.
Description of Work: Installed 8 windows and 1 sliding glass door.

 + -1 moreThe installation went very well. The crew was very competent and was very conscientious. My husband was impressed by the use of covers for the floors and the way that the crew vacuumed up right behind installers. Only bad thing was that one slider screen door did not fit correctly. We went through the warranty process and they really did a great job. Showed up on the date promised with the correct part and fixed the issue. Would recommend to anyone.

 + -1 moreI contacted Good News Home Improvements (by e-mail which I prefer ) on 03/26/2013. An appointment was made for me on 03/26 to meet with Mr Holliday , the owner on 04/01/2013. He carefully explained to me what was available and what would meet my needs. I signed the contract then and there . He asked how had I found him I said Angie's list and he promptly gave me a discount which I had not even known was available. The old doors were removed and the new ones installed today 04/12/2013. It was a crew of two, the double Ts, Tony and Tony. They were just great . Knew exactly what they were doing, worked grand together. Runners were laid down from the front door to the work area. Plastic was used to cover other areas likely to be exposed to dust or debrisThere was minimal disruption .The work was carried out quietly and efficiently without fuss or drama. There were no surprises and they finished within the time frame they had given me on arrival. The clean up was exceptional both front and back areas and in the house itself . Nothing left for me to clean up. They even helped to put back some of the furniture I had moved. I just cannot say enough good things about these guys and Mr Holliday's company. The doors and windows are a vast improvement on the old ones. The area faces south and west and already we notice the difference in the indoor temperature. The outside temperature was in the mid eighties today....normally that would require blinds to be closed and the fans turned on but not today. If this is a portent of things to come this summer will be a cooler one for us. Thank you to all and especially Angies list for listing all these great contractors and companies. If anyone is looking to hire Good News H.I. just go ahead you won't regret it.
Description of Work: 2 sliding metal patio doors and windows were replaced with 2 Amerimax vinyl locking patio doors , one with a transome.

 + 0 moreGood News Home Improvements were fine. They did what they said they would do. I didn't have a problem and they seemed to be professional. Their salesman was very professional and the workers were fairly good. I guess their price was comparable. The office staff was very good. If I had any complaints at all they were right there. If I want to do the rest of the house I would probably use them again.
Description of Work: We used Good News Home Improvements. They put up new insulated siding on the south side of my house and they put in 5 new energy efficient windows.

Description of Work: Owner Ed Holliday from Good News Home Improvements replaced all my windows and siding on my house and they did a fantistic job. I'm am so pleased with the quality, care, cleanup they did on my home. Ed and his crew were so professional and they did all this in just two days. After my windows were replaced, that very same evening I noticed a BIG difference in the warmth of my home. I thought to myself, I should have done this years ago. If you are looking for someone to do Home Improvements on your home, I recommend Good New Home Improvemtns and ask for Ed Holliday. Description of Work: The company installed 10 windows, 2 sliding glass doors, and one back door. They were on time, easy to converse with, and very helpful. Thay did and excellent job of installation and cleanup and even sent a person back the next day to help me with trim work that was not in the contract. Very pleased with their overall job and highly recommended.

Description of Work: Ed Holliday, the owner of good news home improvements, came to my home to give me a New Window Install Quote, on 11/14/2012. First off, Ed Holliday was approximately a half an hour late for arriving to my property for the quote. Ed Holliday did call to notify me he was going to be late, but at that point, I notified him, that I had another appointment scheduled right after him and that I needed him to be completed and gone by 10:30 a.m. My appointment with Ed was scheduled at 8 a.m. but unfortunately Ed did not leave on time and my other appointment had to wait outside for quite a while. On top of that, my other appointment was over heard by Ed because he stuck around to measure windows again which I had preferred he had not stayed! My follow up appointment, after Good News Home Improvement I had was a private personal meeting, in my home, with myself and my son. I was not at all comfortable with Ed Holliday still being at my home during part of that appointment and not leaving on time, as I advised him multiple times. So unfortunately my private personal meeting was no longer private and was cut short because of him! ON TOP OF THAT, ED HOLLIDAY GAVE ME, MY SON, AND MY DOG THE CREEPS. ED SET OFF OUR CREEPDAR BAD! ALSO MY DOG WOULD NOT STOP GROWLING AT HIM THE WHOLE TIME HE WAS IN MY HOME AND ON MY PROPERTY! DOGS ARE A GREAT JUDGE OF CHARACTER! I WAS ON EDGE AND MY SON WAS ON EDGE AND MY DOG WAS ON EDGE! IN ADDITION, ED HOLLIDAY, DURING THE PRESENTATION MADE A OFF HAND COMMENT, IN FRONT OF MY SON, TO WHIP HIM PLEASE, FOR BEING LATE! THAT COMMENT OUT OF HIS MOUTH JUST BLEW MY SON'S MIND AND MY MIND, AND DEFINITELY SOURED US ON HIM, AND HIS COMPANY! Ed Holliday, did speak to me later in the day after the quote, with returning a missed call by me, but that conversation between him and I, was completely strained and it was extremely bad timing, as I was in a doctors office and he was pushing and speaking bizarrely to me as he did during our appointment, and continuing a conversation with me, after I told him, that I mistakenly called him. Just so future customers know, if you do sign a contract with Good News Home Improvement, the only way to cancel within the 3 day right to cancel period, is to physically hand in the signed and dated contract, by the customer in the cancellation spot on the contract itself, and this must be taken into their physical location, or to mail it to their physical location. They do not accept faxed cancellations. I brought my cancellation in personally because I did not want to take the chance that if I mailed it, that the company would still hold me to the contract. It was extremely uncomfortable to bring the contract with the cancellation signature in personally, because then my son and I got the question from the receptionist, if there was a problem, which I was not comfortable with that question or with answering it.

 + -1 moreDid an excellent job of: 1) providing us with information so that we could make a determination on the type of windows to install in our home; 2) estimating the costs (We had received several estimates from other companies, and their price was the best, product highly rated and excellent warranty.); 3) completing the work within the timeframe indicated -- in fact, they did the work sooner than originally anticipated; 4) installing the windows -- the staff were very thorough, friendly, informative of how to operate and maintain the windows as well as did a great job of cleaning up after the work was completed.

 + -1 moreEvery bit of the operation from the initial sales calls through the installation were as good as good gets. No pressure, great price, excellent workmanship. They have been in now more than a month and I am more happy every day. The installation took place iin a single day and went flawlessly. Installers were polite, friendly and left the place cleaner than they found it. I really could not be more pleased with this home improvement.

The job was completed in sections due to landscaping that needed to be complete before the siding install and backordered entry door that we ordered. The crew for both the window installation and the siding were great and accommodating. We are very happy with the product and the installation.
Description of Work: Replaced all windows, sliding glass patio door, install new front entry door with side lites (was backordered-installed temporary and later installed entry), brought 2 windows up to code with new install and installed 2 new windows. Demo old siding and installed new LP Smartsiding on entire house plus new trim around doors and windows on exterior plus new trim around interior of new (not replacement) windows.

 + -1 moreI contacted Good News Home Improvement via email (thru Angie's site) regarding an estimate to replace my fogged up dual-pane window. After some questions back and forth, both via email and phone, they convinced me to have the window repaired rather than replaced and even referred me to a reputable glass shop to get the work done. This saved me HUNDREDS of dollars!! This is money they could have made had they not been so honest and caring. I will use this company if I ever need windows replaced and will definitely refer friends to them whenever the opportunity arises. Ed, the owner, and Kori, the office manager, are the best!
Description of Work: I have a fogged up dual-pane window that I wanted replaced. I contacted them to do the job. I also contacted Home Depot for an estimate (HD's est. was about $300 higher than what Good News would have charged me).

 + -1 moreEven though, I didn't hire Good News Home Improvements for my siding project, I do feel that they deserve an excellent recommendation from me. Ed Holliday provided me with excellent service. He went out of his way to show me samples of three different sidings that I was interested in, but couldn't decide which one was for me. He is definitely detail-oriented and asks questions which the other contractors did not ask. His questions were worth thinking about. Even though I did not use his services for this project, I would recommend him because of his attention to details. That is important to the homeowner.

After Good New came to my home and carefully looked over the property, the owner told me my siding did not need be replaced and I only needed a good paint job saving me $50.000. The owner of Good News referred a painter and stayed at my home until he arrived. The two went over my home in detail, and marked all the siding areas that needed recauking and repainting. Good News siding was so honest and helpful, I would definitely use them for any home needs. I was prepared to spend thousands of dollars on siding but he did not charge me for his appraisal or services.

Description of Work: We had had another company from Angie's List come out and take a look at our windows in our home and provided us with an estimate of over $8,000 for just 1 side of our house and also used some tactics that we felt were not very honest. We then called Good News for a second opinion. We were a bit nervous after getting our first quote but Ed was amazing. Not only did he give us some great information but he also suggested us replacing our glass, not windows, which would save us a lot of money AND not disturb the house and foundation itself. And get this, he doesn't sell glass only, so he gave us a few companies to call and finish the work we needed at a fraction of the price. I was truly impressed with his professionalism and time he provided to us even though he didn't make a penny from us. Call Ed, you won't be disappointed! He's your man.

 + -1 morePerfect from beginning to end, starting with the salesman. He was extremely knowledgeable, and the product was by far the best value and quality of everything we'd looked at. Price, which included repairing dry rot, framing some of the windows, upstairs and downstairs was extremely reasonable. Workers showed up precisely on the dot, professional, efficient, CLEAN, a well-oiled machine in action! Spent just as much time cleaning up as installing, which is muchly appreciated. Bad weather caused a delay in installing all the windows but was immediately rescheduled days later and completed as promised. Thrilled with results and am now referring to everyone I know - one of my co-workers is now buying windows with more on the way... Can't think of one bad thing to say - and I'm PICKY PICKY!!

 + -1 moreIn November 2011, I received three bids to replace five windows in my home. All three representatives gave a good presentation but Chris, with Good News Home Improvements, was the best. He explained how the windows worked and how they would be installed. There was no high pressure and no "if you sign up today" kind of thing like the other two companies. The windows were installed in two days. The windows would have been installed in one day except for the discovery of dry rot. The dry rot was wide spread and required the replacement of a part of a wall. When I learned about the dry rot I thought "oh boy" now the price is really going up. I was shocked and pleased when the additional cost was much lower than I thought it would be. Tony and his co-worker did an excellent job on the windows and the wall repair was perfect. Their expertise was evident from start to finish. The work areas were covered and there was not a spect of dust or debris left when the job was finished. Everyone I had contact with at Good News Home Improvements was helpful, pleasant and professional. I would recommend Good News Home Improvements, to anyone. As a matter of fact I will be having the rest of my windows replaced later this year.
