Fabri-Steel West Inc

I purchased my building in 2005 from Fabri Steel West and I found out later they contract out the actual building of it. Anyhow, I'm a reasonable guy but I had many issues with John as the project went on. First, I had the pad all graded by a professional land grading contractor. John's concrete subcontractor came out, formed it up, laid in the rebar, leveled the gravel, etc. They poured and finished the concrete pad, and then John comes to me telling me because the pad was not level enough they had to use much more concrete and it would cost me an additional $3,000. I explained to him that had he told me that earlier I would have called the grading company back and asked them to fix it. I end up having to split the cost with John. Second, his building erection subcontractor had a crew that for some reason only worked 1/2 days and then would not show up for days. I called John and got no response. I then called the subcontractor to see what the hold up was, and when John found out I did that he called me very angry that I had "went around him". I felt I had no choice since John was not calling me back and I was on a time line to have my building completed for my business. Third, I ordered four windows. Since I'm a computer aided design professional I drew up elevation drawing of the four sides of the building which showed the exact locations of the windows. They were purposely placed up in the top section of the 16' wall. The window installation was another subcontractor and when John and I reviewed the placement, he was surprised that I wanted them so high. He was also very annoyed that he had returned the lift and now needed to rent it again. John, you should have looked at the detailed drawings I provided. Fourth, My fault for living with a leaky roof for 13 years but I did because I didn't want anything to do with Fabri Steel West. Today had a licensed roofer come clean my roof and try to locate the leaks and to his surprise he found out quickly the source. The erecting crew when installing the roof missed the beams with their screws and because of that relocated the screws to the proper place, BUT left the holes. This was in many locations. This is the reason for me leaving a review 13 years later...too much! Side note, about 5 years ago John called me and asked if I could be used as a reference. I straight up told him "John, you would not want me to be a reference, I'm not a happy client"...he never asked why or probed to see if he could do anything to correct that. Seems a little odd to be calling a 12 year old customer for a reference...maybe he's lacking happy clients? Please take a good hard look at your options for metal buildings. Ask for recent references, and ask if you could come see it. It's a big investment.

They were extremely professional and the work was done in a timely manner - sooner than we expected. We had bought the same metal building from them a year ago and that went very smoothly too.
