I took advantage of the $29 Angie's list tune-up deal since it had been a few years since anyone services my air conditioner and it seemed to not be keeping up as well as it has in the past. The service was easy to schedule and the tech called ahead and showed up ahead of schedule to perform the tune-up. The tune-up seemed to go fine except that the tech was unable to check the refrigerant charge because he couldn't loosen the nut that made the connection. The next day, my thermostat gave me an alert that there may be something wrong with my system because it was not keeping up. This message appeared most days after the service. I contacted Environmental Heating and Air for advice and I spoke with a different tech who listened well and tried to offer assistance over the phone. I reviewed my data from my thermostat and noticed that I had set the temperature one degree lower after the tech left and that possibly was contributing to the air conditioner not keeping up with a slightly lower temperature setting. I also noticed the air conditioner was running 3 - 4 hours per day longer that had been typical in recent hot days. I relayed this information to the tech that was advising me by phone and he said he would talk to the tech that did the tune-up and get back to me. I never heard back. Five weeks later I find water leaking through my ceiling due to a crack in the overflow pan under the air handler in the attic. I called a different complainty to repair and find out both primary and secondary condensate drain lines were plugged and the condenser coil was very dirty and the air conditioner was working much harder as a result. The tech from the repairing company also had no trouble checking the referifant charge. I don't blame Environmental Heating and Air for my issues, but I believe the perfirmance checks maybe could have identified a potential problem and the tech could have done a better job cleaning the coil (part of the tune up; I watched the remaining company's tech spray a lot of debris off of the coil with a garden hose). This combined with my inquires possibly could have brought to light the problems before they caused damage. The bottom line is that I would not trust this company to do further checks / repairs on my system.

It went fine. I should have explained that we are retired General Contractors and my husband's health prevented him from doing the inspection himself this year.
Description of Work: The tech came out to inspect my AC Unit. The service was paid for in advance. My unit was running when he got here and cold, but the there were 3 things he addressed. Those 3 things had to do with the only 3 major components in the Unit. I was told that 2 of them should be done soon. The other one should be done right away in order for the unit to last longer. None of which were under $300.00. My unit only cost $500 so what does that tell you. He used a iPad type tablet to enter his information and I was sent an email with the final findings.

The technician was extremely courteous and took time to explain and point things out. They replaced a capacitor and charged $338 for that, (Their normal rate). This is something that disturbs me about HVAC companies in general, the part is a $15 part and takes less than 5 minutes to install, very high markup consider I had paid for the service call. So I will order an extra one and a capacitor tester so I can do it myself in the future.
Description of Work: Environmental heating and air did an inspection on my 2 Units, In the process they found I had a faulty capacitor and he showed me the measurements to verify and explained why the unit was still able to run (because we have additional hardware).

Service person recommended a couple of things I should get done to extend the life of the air condition. He gave me a written report that I can refer to when I want this service done. I will definitely contact them again.

I'm not sure anything was even done. After "service" I looked at our unit. Think the guy would have suggested we insulate the cooling pipe (it's almost fully exposed). I emailed the company with this information and got no response.

Service tech was very professional and appeared very knowledgeable. Scheduling was a problem. They cancelled the initial appointment (Monday Aug 29) and told me that I would be the first visit at 8:00am on Thursday (Aug 31). They showed up at 12:15.
Description of Work: Maintenance service for my AC. All test were within limits but pointed out some future concerns.

technician was on time and showed me some places for wear and tear. he took some pictures and said he would email me the detailed report. I never heard back from him. Company called to schedule an appointment to bid a replacement price. I had to cancel the appointment due to conflict and they were to call back to reschedule. never heard back from them.

Quite well. Had new Lennox condenser installed, since existing one is ready to go any day. The ducts were all re-sealed, so that no air is escaping now.And, lastly the Lennox comes with a 10-yr. warranty.

The inspection went well. Our system appears to be fairly new and in good condition. No repair work was needed. The technician did mention their subscription service (two inspections a year) but did not aggressively pitch it, which I was thankful for. I am more likely to subscribe to such services when the company doesn't try to make it sound like a catastrophe will occur if I don't "act now." (I only wish other unnamed public sector entities would stop doing that.)

Everything went great... except when I was charged $392 for a $65 part. To begin, their service, response time, and professionalism was definitely 5 stars. My Carrier AC fan outside stopped spinning on Friday night at 9pm and I scrambled on what to do. I had used Environment Heating and Air Solutions for an AC tune up in 2015 and that went well, so I thought I'd call at 10pm and see if I could at least leave a voicemail. I was shocked when someone actually answered. The nice lady checked to see where their technicians were (at 10pm at night?!?!) and said that the earliest she could have someone come over was the next morning (Saturday) between 8am and noon. That was awesome, I wasn't expecting it to be so soon. AC guy got there around 10:45am and was quick to identify the problem. He took a stick, put it through the fan grate, and manually pushed the fan one direction with nothing happening. Then he tried the other direction and the fan started spinning. I had tried that the night before, but only the one, wrong direction (ugh). So he opened up the Carrier AC unit on one of the side corners and said the capacitor had failed, which is a device that stores a big enough charge to get the fan initially moving when you turn on the AC. He said he could easily tell it was busted because it was bulging at top, when it's supposed to be flat. Said the part would cost $389 and the service charge would be $89. Didn't see if I had much choice (I have 2 small children, so I could not have the AC broken another night in triple digit temperature). Asked him if that part was a good quality part, and he said he had another "Turbo" capacitor with him, so he checked the cost on his tablet. $392, which was only $3 more than the regular capacitor. Okay... give me that one then, it's only $3 more. So he went to work and I took notice of the new "Turbo" capacitor he was about to install. So I googled it, while he's working, to see what it costs online. Found the EXACT same capacitor on Amazon for $65 (here's the exact part: MARS - Motors & Armatures 12200 TURBO 200 2.5/5/5/10/20/25 MFD Capacitor). Needless to say I was shocked. I understand there being a markup... but a 600% markup! That's being taken advantage of outrageous. So when he was done, I asked him about the huge markup and he simply said, "yea, sorry, I don't have anything to do with prices". And that was that. After about no more than 30 minutes the unit was fixed and I paid Environmental Heating and Air Solutions $491. Lesson learned, I guess. A $491 lesson.

Jared was efficient and friendly and finished the job in less than 15 minutes. The problem came when the company charged $448 instead of $360 we were quoted and what I signed for. Unfortunately, I signed for the $360 on a notebook and have no physical receipt which was never sent to my email. When Jared was in our house in called the office and got approval for the Angie's coupon. He also gave Amanda (the person on the phone and owners wife) my email address and credit card #. I was uncomfortable when he was reading my credit card # over the phone that he flipped it over and also gave the 3 digit code on the back. When he was in my house with my driver's license # and the physical card in his hand there was no reason to use the 3 digit code for verification. When I checked and saw the overcharges from the company I immediately called the company and talked with Amanda and she insisted the charges were correct and they forgot to refund the $30 for the Angie's coupon so they would credit me $30. I said no, they need to refund me $88 which was the overcharge. She kept saying for me to listen and listing their fees. I told her again that what I signed for was $360 end of story. She refused the refund so I went to my bank and told them the story and put the charges in dispute. Also, I cancelled my credit card and requested a new one because I was uncomfortable with them having the 3 digit code. This company was quick to charge my credit card and still hasn't provided me with a receipt. I've learned my lesson and if not physical receipt then I'll take a picture of the receipt on the notebook..
Description of Work: Our Air Conditioner went out on hottest day of the year. Jared came out and installed a dual capcitator. He said the part cost $300 plus $90 for the service call. I used an Angie's List coupon that took off $30 for total of $360.

We are sorry you feel this [Member Information Removed]. As discussed on the phone the office staff including management and the guys in the field are not allowed to change the price much less a signed invoice, the software prevents that for very obvious reasons. The price of the part alone was more that 360 so no one knows how you came up with this number. We did email you a copy of the invoice and will be happy to do it again. We have your signature on file on the very screen with the pricing that no one in our office or field is able to change. We have tried talking to you but you swore at us and hung up on us. In this case we are not sure where you came up with the pricing. Your credit card was processed and we no longer have access to the credit card number so you have nothing to worry about as far as your credit card info being in jeopardy. We are a very reputable company and your accusations do not make sense because no one has access to change a signed invoice including the owners. We tried to do you a favor and give you the discount of $59 diagnosis fee instead of $89 and we did charge your card the discounted amount. Again, we have your signature on file and he explained the pricing before you signed because it is the screen you had to sign on. We are happy to try and explain this to you again if you will talk to our management. Take Care.

Technician didn't complete the tune-up and tried to sell me some $600.00 door additional diagnostic service for what he said was a "blockage" in my lines somewhere. I've reached out to the company via email and a phone call, but no reply.

Lorenzo was my service tech and he was excellent! He was professional, explained what he was doing, and why he was doing it. He not only took the time to brush the dust and dirt out of the A/C panels he opened, he had shoe covers to protect my carpet! He recommended I clean some of the coils outside (less than 10 minutes) and he took the time to clean corrosion on the thermostat battery contacts. He had some recommendations to extend the life of the system, but no hard sell.

Filled questionnaire and gave them three available dates. Two weeks later they called to set up an appointment. I was no longer interested in them doing the job. Angie's List had refunded my money on the tenth day.
