Angelita's House Cleaning Service

They never returned my 2 messages trying to set up initial appointment. Extremely unprofessional and will NOT be using them. They clearly don't want my business.

For 10 years we have dealt with this company and been happy with them. They are fairly priced, but over the last three months some things happened that gave us cause to question the honesty and integrity of the company and its owner. First, a lamp was knocked off a table and broken. I heard the crash and went into the living room to see what had happened. It appeared as if the woman who knocked it down was trying to conceal the accident. Knowing that the woman was probably fearful of losing her job, I tried to reassure her that accidents happen, but with a language barrier I was unsure that I had correctly communicated with her. I called the owner, Angelita, and explained that I understood that accidents happen and no blame was being levied against anyone. I made the point that I wanted to be informed when something of the kind happens. Less than a month later, I went in to take a shower right after the housecleaning service had left my home. The showerhead on the hand-held shower was broken, cracked, and completely unusable. I called the owner the next day to tell her what had happened, that this was the second time, and since I had not been told about the accident I expected to be reimbursed for the replacement of the showerhead. The owner informed me that she was in San Jose because her sister had passed away and would not be back in town until after the holiday. She asked me to do without replacing the showerhead until she could come look at it. She assured me she would call me the first week in January. Trying to be sympathetic to her personal grief, I waited until midway through the second week to call her again. She scheduled an appointment with me to "call and schedule a time we can come look at your shower." Angelita stood us up again, and again, and again. By mid March she still had not made arrangements to reimburse us. When I called her for the last time she told me she was in Los Angeles because her sister died, but that she would be back in two weeks and would call to schedule an appointment to come by. She also told me she would only talk to my husband since, " he is nice." She did not call. We called again and were stonewalled again being told that we will come by "between 9:30 and 11:30. We informed her that we were tired of sitting around for hours waiting for her calls or appointments that never came about. At that point she said, "Alright, I will be there at 9:30 tomorrow. She arrived the next day with one of her employees and with her daughter. She looked at the shower and agreed to pay for 50% of the purchase price since the showerhead was "old." Keep in mind, folks, that we have a less than two-year old complete remodel on that bathroom and the showerhead is guaranteed for the life of the house, not exactly "old." Angelita's resistance to doing what is right, the fact that she left us hanging time after time, and the lies have given me cause to wonder how much I should have trusted her over the years. I always thought she was honest and reliable, if a bit scatterbrained, but I certainly have been given ample cause to rethink that trust and feel the necessity of informing anyone I can to stay away from this business lest they be duped as we were by Angelita's pleasant demeanor until she is asked to take responsibility for the behavior of her staff and her business.
