CALIFORNIA GARVEY WINDOWS AND DOORS INC.

I called California Garvey Windows to get an estimate on 8 windows that needed to be replaced on my rental property. The house is very old and the windows are original to the house. In speaking to the woman in the office, I had to spell my name several times to the woman I spoke to and had to repeat the property address as well. The backround noise in the office was really loud and she kept breaking out into another language to other coworkers while she was speaking to me. I asked if they could call my renters to make an appointment so they can go inside the house and measure. She said they would and told me that as soon as they had the estimate, she would call me. About three days later (on a Friday) she had called and left me a message saying that they had an estimate for me. I called her back on Monday and asked for my estiame. They said that they didn't have one under my name that maybe I had the wrong number. After spelling my name again for them and giving them my phone number, they finally found it, but "they were too busy with other stuff to help me", her exact words. I said "what other stuff", she just said "stuff". I finally persuaded them to give me my estimate. They put me in touch with the person who had actually gone out to the property. He gave me a great quote for the windows, however he said that "the measurements were not accurate". I asked him why not, and he replied, "I couldn't get inside to measure, so I had to guess". I was furious and asked him why he didn't contact my renter to make an appointment with him like I had asked. He said he had called my renter's cell, but he didn't answer. I asked him if he left him a message so he could make an appointment to go inside and measure. He said "no". I asked him why and he said "I don't know". He said that he wanted to get me a quick estimate so he did it that way. He said that it would be ok and that the if his estimates were wrong it wouldn't cost much more. I told him that that estimate was unacceptable and I told him to call my renter back, make an appointment with him to get inside the house, and get another estimate. He said "OK", and never called me back. This company is absolutely atrocious!!! The unprofessionalism, rudeness, and incompetence was amazing! I wouldn't risk doing business with this company at all. They do have great prices, however, at what cost?

I went to a few places and they didn't have the glass available, or didn't really understand what they were selling. Garvey had a piece. They also had it at a good price. The only downside was that they had to order more glass to complete my order, and it took 2 days to get it all done. To their credit, they did try to expedite things as best they could. (They source glass from a company in Downey.) My only ''issue'' was that I was using a plain, traditional, retro pattern, and their stock is primarily for store windows and renovations with contemporary patterns. (Their clientele is primarily Asian, and the preferred style within the community is ''Italian'' or Mediterranean (which probably goes for a lot of shops out here). My goal was to fix up a midcentury modern tract house in the appropriate style.)

LOVE DOING BUSINESS WITH GARVEY GLASS. DEALT WITH ANN, AND SHE IS ALWAYS VERY NICE. THEY ALSO NEGOTIATE ON SOME ITEMS WHICH IS GREAT! WE USE THEM FOR SCREENS, AND NEW WINDOWS AS WELL.
