This is a Diamond Certified company with a good reputation. I got two quotes, and I chose this company over an equally-reputable competitor with a lower price solely because of the personal interaction I had with the job estimator. He answered my detailed questions patiently and respectfully. I'm familiar with the electrical code, I knew what the job would entail, and I had a "good feeling" about this company's ability to perform the work to my satisfaction. Unfortunately, I ended up being disappointed. The flashing where the new service panel riser penetrates the roof was installed incorrectly. It was just placed on top of the existing shingles and sealed with roofing cement. I was assured that it would not leak, but of course it did. The riser was secured to the exterior wall with undersized wood screws driven into only the siding, which provides no anchoring support whatsoever for the pipe. It should have been secured with a Unistrut or equivalent that was anchored to the studs in the wall. One of the two breakers they installed in the new service panel was too big for the wire it was meant to protect and was thus not in compliance with NEC Table 310.16 (ampacity of wires). Although timely and courteous, the employees doing the work arrived at the house with the batteries in their hand tools not fully charged. I had to run a power line to the neighbor's house (our electrical service was disconnected during the job) and loan them my 120V hand tools in order to complete the job. After the job was done, I hired a roofing contractor to repair the roof and fix the leak. I corrected the other problems myself. I wrote a letter to the owner of the company describing these deficiencies. He was very responsive to my concerns and very concerned about his company's reputation. He ultimately reimbursed my costs to correct their mistakes, including the cost of hiring the roofing contractor. The owner assured me that this was an isolated event and that this is not the way his company normally does business. Although I believe him, that still doesn't change the fact that it happened to me. For that reason I will not hire them again.
Description of Work: Upgrade electrical service from 100A to 200A. Remove old service panel and riser. Install new service panel and riser. Coordinate with the power company and the building permit office.
