Description of Work: My worst experience ever. The landscape plan did not address many of the 'wants' that we had discussed; it was as if he had lost the notes of our conversation. The plan felt very 'off the shelf' and did not even include one whole side yard, which was a top priority for me. Plus, I paid extra for a lighting plan and have never gotten it, even a year later.

Description of Work: Not sure of the exact date sometime in July or August 2012 I contacted Ben of Simple Elegance to do the landscape design for my front and rear yards. While I was initially excited about the design, between missed appointments and further research/third party consultation I didn't believe I was getting good service or a design that included all native plant species. Also, the estimate for the work by Ben's "preferred" contractor was so low compared to other prices that it scared me away.

Description of Work: I purchased a $299 Big Deal for Professional Landscape Design INCLUDING Plans. They provided me with physical designs for my backyards. It turned out very well. I got my monies worth.

Description of Work: Ben drew up garden plans and went over them with me. I paid extra for sprinkler and lighting plans but they weren't provided. When I was ready to begin the landscaping, Ben said he would contact the companies he normally worked with. He didn't and they hadn't heard of me when I contacted them.

Description of Work: It is simple.. Simple Elegance promises a lot and delivers little. We were desperate for some to help us with our expansive 10 acre property that we had just moved into. We had called many companies without success. Most would not do business this far out of Roseville/Sacramento. Benjamin came out and made great promises..he had contacts, he could "get stuff done" all we needed to do was sign on the dotted line! Once we signed for the design everything went downhill. We had to have high grass cut down on the back hill and he said he could "get it done"..we waited and waited..calling him many times and not getting a response...then he responded he was having trouble getting someone to help so he sent his brother! Little by little we realized he did NOT have the contacts he promised and could do no better than we could do on our own. In the meantime the "design phase" was supposed to be underway...it dragged out so long that we finally just stopped communicating with him. It seems he spends quite some time in the LA area. Every time we wanted to meet his office person told us it would be 2 weeks We were very anxious to get the actual work started and simply couldn't wait any longer. Of course he had collected the majority of the payment for "the plan" but because we stopped communicating he retained the plan and we're out some $2000+ ! Bottom line: a lot of hassle, a lot of money, NO RESULTS

Description of Work: Ben came out to my house, took measurements, asked questions about what I wanted. A few weeks later we did an on-line meeting where he showed me his plans and suggested plantings (Drop-Box included photos of suggested plantings which was very helpful in visualizing his plans) and a couple of weeks later I received the physical blueprint plans as well. I liked the variety of plants, the colors, much more colorful than what I envisioned plus he explained the care and upkeep of the plants. I recommended Simple Elegance to my boss who just bought a house and needs some landscaping work done.

Description of Work: I have gone through five months with this company, getting them to draw up plans for the landscaping of my house. I find their process excruciatingly long and tedious. The owner operates in two locations, one in Rocklin, the other in Beverly Hills. The time to get an appointment is always nearly a month. We have met in person twice, and on the Internet once. He did not listen to me when I told him what I did and did not want for my landscaping projects. He grossly underestimated the implementation costs of the project, and seemed insulted when I didn't want to include high-end touches like a "bocci ball" court in my very middle-class neighborhood. That said, the plan is good, and the plant suggestions are excellent. It's just not what I expected in terms of what I would receive as an end product.

Description of Work: Took a few messages before someone returned my calls. Turned out my home was too far for them to come out and not worth their time. Our back yard is getting there over fifty grand later. It's too bad Angie's list doesn't do a better job at posting those big deals by location. The lady that did call me back was very nice and professional.

Description of Work: designed a landscape plan to minimize noise from neighbor's pool equipment. Suggested a water feature which was an excellent idea. They installed a new lawn, removed an old tree, and re-planted the area including a 15 gallon tree. Landscape lighting was added and the entire area was irrigated with a new sprinkler system including a weather sensitive sprinkler heads. A fountain was added which is helpful in masking noise from the neighbor's pool equipment. The owner and project manger were both very professional and responsive throughout the project. Their crew were very efficient, courteous and professional. I would recommend them.
