+ -1 moreI recently hired Ponderosa Tree Service to trim some oak trees on our property. I wanted to make sure that the crew did not use climbing spikes, as I heard that spikes can damage trees. The owner seemed knowledgeable in tree care, and told me that it is not their policy to use spikes. I assumed that his crew climbed trees, but without spikes. They do not climb at all. All work was done from a cherry picker and tall ladders. As a result, most of the work was done by the owner while in the cherry picker or on a ladder. The other three men in the four man crew watched him, did minor tree trimming with pole saws, or cleaned up. Some of the dead branches that were too high or inaccessible by the picker or ladders were not removed. The owner did not inform me before the work began that they do not climb trees. Had I known that, I would not have hired them. They were polite and removed all of the debris.
Description of Work: Ponderosa Tree Service trimmed our oak trees.

+ -1 moreRon and his crew of 3 arrived right on time and worked tirelessly all day on all my trees. They were great to work with, were respectful of the property, making sure not to damage anything. Ron was there the whole time, most of the time up in the bucket doing a lot of the trimming himself. The guys were so nice to spread out the chippings instead of leaving them in a pile for me to deal with. They cleaned up everything quite well when they were done. I would recommend Don and his crew and would have them back again. Thanks for your hard work and for being so pleasant to work with.
Description of Work: They trimmed dead wood, mistletoe on 9 pretty good sized oak trees. They did weight reduction and safety trimming on two trees next to my house. They also trimmed a small pecan tree and 6 olive trees. They chipped the branches and cut up large pieces for fire wood.

Description of Work: They trimmed some limbs from several large oak trees that were hanging over my driveway and cleaned up some potential problem limbs on several other trees.

+ -1 moreRon and crew were great. He was very punctional and cleaned up after a very messy job. Ron works the job. He is there to supervise. He also returned phone calls quickly despite being very involved in the job. Everyone was respectful of my stuff, flowers, garden, and even pets. I received 7 bids, Ponderosa was the lowest, fastest, most professional of all them. I was very impressed and will use them in the future again and again and again!.
Description of Work: Ron and crew cut down and removed 21 trees, 200ft of hedge, and 75ft of daiseys.

+ -1 moreI researched area tree removal services at the Better Business Bureau, Angie's, and the Calif contractor's board. This Ponderosa Tree Service (do not confuse with another in the Bay Area) has an A+ rating at the Better Business Bureau. Mr. Pierce gave me a free estimate and was able to to do the work the same day because of other jobs in the neighborhood. He brought a crew of several guys and removed 7 trees down to the ground (I wanted to save a little money so I told them to leave the stumps) in about an hour. They were very pleasant, professional, efficient, and clean. They left the yard in great condition - everything was clean and none of my surrounding plants were damaged. The patio cover was not damaged in any way despite the branches interwoven in the structure. I think they did an excellent job and would hire Ron Pierce/Ponderosa Tree Service again if/when the need arises.
Description of Work: 7 small to medium trees were cut down to the ground and removed from our property . One was a tricky removal because the branches had grown through a lattice like patio cover. I honestly don't know how to rate the price. I wanted the job done right away and the price sounded reasonable to me based on other work done around our home.

+ -1 moreWow, Ron Pierce, the owner showed up to my house, and I have never met a man as nice and as knowledgeable. Boy does this man know a lot about trees !!!! In fact, this guy knows about a lot of things organic! We started chatting and he even gave me some advice on a nutritional question I had and I am amazed at the results. You won't meet a more caring crew of individuals. Professional, clean and the price is lower than other companies that showed up late, scruffy/dirty and treated me with no respect at all. This work was done at my home in California/Sacramento area
Description of Work: I had some dangerous trees in my side yard that were leaning towards the roof of my home. I had called several other places and got about 4 bids. Ponderosa Tree service showed up and gave me a bid that was not only the lowest bid I received, but I could tell the moment I met the crew that these people were not only professional, but they really cared about protecting my home, working as efficiently as possible and causing as little disturbance to me (I work from home some days and have a small child) as possible. Wow, Ron Pierce, the owner showed up to my house, and I have never met a man as nice and as knowledgeable. Boy does this man know a lot about trees !!!! In fact, this guy knows about a lot of things organic! We started chatting and he even gave me some advice on a nutritional question I had and I am amazed at the results.
