The crew was knowledgeable and courtious. They kept a clean work space when the day was over, they even worked well with other subcontractors. Plans were always on hand in case there were any questions. Project manager was available via phone and in person when needed. As soon as supplies arrived, the crew was there to receive or they even picked up supplies as needed. The work was done professionally and with great care and craftsmanship.
Description of Work: We had our entire back yard done by Lavish Gardens. From clean up prep to hard scape, lighting, and water system, to custome made garden boxes and trellises. They helped with design, changed things as needed, and even helped with ordering hardware and making decisions on soil types.

I am working with a budget and pete sprague continues to help me with this and create Ideas. He could easly move on and not care about my financial budget but he does and it is nice to know that I am working with a person and company like that.
Description of Work: Lavish Gardens is a very creditable company. I have recieved a est. and been working with Pete Sprague on this to make this project of mine be complete. I have seen some of the recent comments about Lavish and Pete getting a low score. All I have to say to that is, people are rude and unkind. He had a terrible lost of his mother and had to leave town suddenly. He was in contact with me as I am sure he was with others. People need to realize sometime family is important and your back yard can wait 2 weeks longer in this case. I approve of Lavish and the service I have been provided.
Very well -- Lavish Garden's provided a reasonable price for amount of work done. The crew was very punctual and really skilled. Steve who was the site manager was extremely detailed oriented and consulted with us regularly to ensure we were satisfied with the work and made sure that options were discussed whenever changes from the landscaping plan needed to be considered. We've had a few of our new plantings die during the hot summer, but Lavish extended their normal 3 month warranty on them, and said they will come back in the fall and replace those.
Description of Work: Front yard plant replacement, redo of flagstone path, new backyard flagstone patio and path and plantings, and some new drip line irrigation.

Estimator Pete Sprague arrived on time and made the project seem doable. However, it's been 2 weeks and I still have not received an estimate. Emailed him directly to follow up and got no response.
Description of Work: Landscape work for front and back yard
Called the company number and arranged an appointment with Pete Sprague, one of their designers. Met around the second week of July/2016. I already had a rough draft design of what I wanted from another designer and was just looking to get a quote for the project. Pete called and let me know he was going to be little late from another appointment and made the extra effort to beat traffic from Rocklin on his motorbike. He arrived only a few minutes late and went over the site and took all the necessary measurements as we talked about the plan and any adjustments I might like to make. He let me know it was about a week or so turn around time to get the quotes for the project which from experience is about average. After a week or so passed I sent the designer an email asking about the status and he let me know he just got the prices for the material in and would be starting to work that night. Waited a couple more days and I sent off a second email to see how things were going. That was about 2 and half weeks ago and I never got a reply or phone call back from Pete or the company. I guess they don't want the work. Would be nice if they would let customers know that they don't want the project.
Description of Work: Job that would have been done included landscaping a 25 X 60 backyard with 64 Sqft retaining wall and concrete walking path, along with drainage and irrigation.

Not well. They came out to give me a bid in late June and I never got the proposal by early August(6 weeks). They seemed friendly and knowledgeable. I called numerous times, the owner got involved as my rep had a family emergency and went dark on me for weeks(but couldn't squeeze in one minute of his time for a text, call or email letting me know). They kept telling me I'd get the proposal "next week". After pestering them for a month, I decided that if their work was as good as their bid turn around time, it wasn't worth the risk. If you use them "good luck". Still wondering if positive comments are real or not. I guess I'll never know.

Jerry Lipp, the designer, listened to what we wanted, and more importantly, to how we live and what we wanted to do in the yard. The plan was discussed with us at several times before finalizing the layout. By asking these questions, Mr. Lipp was able to come up with a plan that met all of our requests and saved us a good bit of money over what we had planned before we first met with him. The crew doing the work, and the crew leader, Derek Gilliland, were hard-working and yet flexible, and the work was of excellent quality. They incorporated changes they suggested and that we suggested as well. The crew was exacting in the execution of the plans. The job was delayed several times by rain, but it all got done and we love the results. People walking by regularly stop to admire the yard. There were, of course a few minor hiccups, but the job, though quite extensive, came off flawlessly. The design is attractive and unique. We asked for a low water use, low maintenance yard, with bird- and pollenator-friendly plants, and we got all of that. The biggest problem resulting from the new yard is keeping the inside of the house up to the standards set by the landscaping.
Description of Work: Jerry Lipp designed the landscape and provided detailed plans and the plants list. Derek Gilliland's crew removed the front lawn, installed two raised beds and decorative/sitting walls, installed plants and drip irrigation, installed a large flagstone patio and front porch, installed decomposed granite and flagstone side yard, and installed paving stone hardscape in the backyard.
From the beginning-- I received a response on the very first day that I sent out the request and an appointment was scheduled with Linette. Linette arrived on time for the appointment and listened to everything my husband and I wanted done in our back yard and a couple of things we wanted to get done in the future. She listened carefully, offered her expertise to us, took notes, took pictures and measured everything. She then worked up the contract for us, breaking down all the different jobs individually. On some parts of the job they came in higher than the other contractor I contacted, but some parts of the job came in lower. So, it basically came down to who I felt more comfortable with and Linette won that hands down. After everything was signed and agreed to, we moved forward and worked with Steve's team, which included Ricardo and his crew. We felt really comfortable with Steve too, and he is the plant expert so his information and advice were particularly important to us. He went over the placement of each plant with us so we were totally happy with it. The whole project essentially took two days and both days everyone arrived on time, were very friendly, and cleaned up after themselves when they were done. The very last thing to get done was the new gate for our other side yard. And that job was done by Derek, who is another team leader for Lavish Gardens. Again, I could not be happier with the results. I am thrilled with my new back yard and cannot stop looking out my windows at it. I would not hesitate to use them again, actually don't know why I would use anybody else. They made the whole process pretty painless.
Description of Work: Removed weeds, old raised garden beds and dirt from side yard. Laid down landscape fabric and then pea gravel, keeping my irrigation swale intact. In the back of the yard they planted: 13 photinias (5 gallons) along the fence line for privacy, and 3 crepe myrtles (15 gallons) which they staked; and ran irrigation lines to all of them. Put a decorative, and functional, cap onto a stone wall so my mulch would quit falling in the grass. They also rebuilt my RV gate, which was one solid gate. I wanted it to be two gates--one being smaller so I could take my garbage cans in and out of the side yard without opening the whole large thing, which really was a pain. This involved quite a bit of welding and refacing with all new redwood.

Just recently completed a third project with Lavish Garden Landscape. Once again, a very professional job from design to installation (see my previous review March 2014). I think this may have been the trickiest of the three projects because this was an infill - removing the front and side lawns, yet the design had to complement the existing plantings that were going to stay. Daniel did the design, and I really felt that he listened to me about what I wanted as an end result (as vague as that might have been), and came through with a design that didn't look like an "add-on". I believe that the final product - new section and existing sections - look like they were designed together. I already have complements from the neighbors. Steve and his crew did a great job on the plantings, irrigating and pavers. They are punctual, and show up when they say they will. They work clean every day; I never had a problem with landscape materials blocking access to my garage or backyard. And on the last day the final clean-up was amazing - all I had to do was go out admire the work. I received everything I asked for - new landscaping that fit in with my existing landscaping, that was water-smart, and low maintenance.
Description of Work: Removal of front and side lawn. Add plantings and paving stones to seamlessly fit in with existing landscaping.
Well prety bad. You can judge for your self. If you can tolerate. The outrageous cost of plans were to be absorbed by them if they did work. I am not willing to pay that kind money or wait years for job compeltion .just shy a year planing have modest home not mansion.
Description of Work: The company rep was nice but did not do what we hired for. Asked for plans and try too keep around 30 to 50 thousand dollars. Asked for what we wanted pond and paths, patio. Wished for fireplace and out door kitchen. Took six monts to recive plans not happy with time table sofar. I have cancer and not long to play so wantd something within a couple months not so. Did not come when stating rep would . Finaly a plan I paid for asked how much for plans to happen. We finaly recived call with pricing just before christmas.I am p*** try to find contractors to do job plans are out of scale wrong mesurments. Not inches but 30 plus feet. So cost first bid 250 thousand dollas second bid 315 thousand dollars. Not close to 50 thousand and wothless plans that I paid a fortun for. So do you want this. Not me dont know what to say to them but give me a refund you go your way I will go mine. Still waiting for pond before I die.

We asked for a bid and gave them a price range that they more than doubled in their bid. I was able to negotiate a price and had them take out several things we didn't need/ask for to bring it closer to what we asked for. The planning process was okay except one of the sets of plans we received was for another property--not ours. The install went fairly smoothly, but they put in some flowers that we hadn't discussed which were promptly eaten by the deer in our neighborhood the same day they were installed. They tried to replace them with the same flowers, which also got eaten. They moved our fountain and it wound up with a crack in it afterwards, which we were instructed to fix ourselves. Several plants died right away and we were told to wait until the following year to have them replaced by the company. Within a week of the new landscaping we had weeds growing up. I called to ask them what might have happened and was told they hadn't put weed barrier down! We fought the weeds for years after that. The following year we called Michael to come out to discuss replacing the plants that died and the ones that were eaten. It took a while to get him out, then after coming out, he never got back to us about the plans to replace. We gave up at that point.
Description of Work: Completely dug up and replaced front landscaping, moved fountain.

The entire team at Lavish Gardens was engaged and committed to making our front yard a finished product we are all proud of. Derek Gilliland is an outstanding Construction Foreman; going from a typical lawn to a drought tolerant landscape was new to us and he really listened to what we wanted and offered interesting and unique ideas that got the most out of our yard. He is an artist with a Bobcat, and the quality and aesthetics of the rock wall and dry river bed he created are amazing. The work crew members were professional and courteous and finished ahead of schedule. A great experience from start to finish, we would recommend Lavish Gardens to anyone looking for quality landscape construction and customer service.

In a few words, overpriced, under-engineered, and short on detail. A color drawing from an overhead view, while nice to look at, simply is insufficient to build with. At over $1700 cost, I expect more for a single residence that only covers front and side yards. I suspect they want to keep those needed details for themselves in hopes of charging exorbitant fees for construction. I think $40k exorbitant when it reflects more than 10% of the land and building value and only includes an iron fence, gate, and plants.

The design was beautiful and the foreman and crew were very good. They were here early and worked long days to get both areas done in a timely manner. The workers were very polite and very hard working. The foreman always kept be abreast of what was going on, such as when they would be digging up the yard, when rock, mulch, and plants would be arriving. Overall, I was very please with the work done. Everyone who has seen the yards are very impressed.
Description of Work: Designed and planted front and back yards to be drought tolerant.
Very satisfied with the quality of the work, and the follow up.
Description of Work: Landscaping plan for the front yard to remove lawn, building a retaining wall, redoing the irrigation, planting drought tolerant Buffalo Grass and adding plants and two Japanese Maple trees.
I would expect Initial contact was very friendly and professional. We knew we wanted to go with them after first estimate. A very nice and professional design was created and the designer helped with each step and was very quick and forthcoming with design changes the we initiated. Though some miscommunication occurred with regard to the payment schedules for material and labor, they were due to our own ignorance and not that of the company. Any changes with regard to the design plan and payment contract were quickly resolved. Some things that we initially wanted to do and then decided to remove from the design were quickly credited back to us. The lead contractor was very professional and nice and we could tell he was very experienced in landscape design. The workers were very hard working. I couldn't believe the amount of work they could get done in such a quick period of time considering the increasing summer temperatures. The total project took a few weeks to complete, quicker than I had expected.
Description of Work: Professional design. Removal of old cement pads and grading of yard. Over 600sq feet stamped & colored concrete, 150sq feet regular concrete, full back yard drainage to the street, sprinklers for about 400sq feet of grass area, drip for approximately 42 plants and trees, 18 inch X 42 foot stucco sitting wall with nice cap stone, 12 foot redwood dog fence with gate and lattice surround for air conditioning unit. Electrical for external power ins plant bed. Two types of bark, about 70sq feet of artificial sod for dog run.
Very good. I worked with a designer to get the desired effect. Daniel went over the plans and listened to suggestion and needs and was great to work with. Then I worked with Derek and his crew for the actual mechanics of the job. Derek was responsive and was here with his crew. Making sure the blueprints Daniel created were followed to the letter. The work was done professionally and Derek's crew worked very hard. I am very pleased with the finish product. There is still one step and that is to seal both my existing patio and my new flagstone patio.
Description of Work: New flagstone mortar patio, sprinkler system, plants, sod, LED lights.
I have nothing but the highest praise for Lavish Gardens and all of the people who work there. They are extremely professional, and also fun to work with. I had multiple interactions with the owner (Michael), the designer (Daniel), and of course with the landscape crew (Steve and his team). They are truly customer-focused, explained everything extremely well, and always kept me well-informed throughout the entire process. I trust their judgment, and the results are fantastic. The yard is now very beautiful, and a joy to show off to family and friends. I highly recommend the entire Lavish Gardens team!
Description of Work: Complete landscape re-design for my front, side, and back yard. Removed old dead lawn, provided new drainage where necessary. Working with Michael Cole and his team of designers and project personnel at Lavish Gardens was a treat. They were professional, skillful, experienced, punctual and most importantly customer service focused. Everything started with a call with the owner Michael Cole. He listened to what we were after and recommended a course of action. This was especially helpful as we are new home owners (having always lived in pre-landscaped codominiums previously) and Michael walked us through the whole procedure which made us feel very comfortable. Next we met with a designer who took our (fuzzy and dynamically changing) vision and created a landscape blueprint which was followed to a "T" by the project personnel that came in a few weeks later to complete the work. The work crew was led by a foreman that was present at every important stage of the project. The individuals were professional, prompt, and cleaned up after themselves at the end of every day.
Description of Work: Complete re-design and implementation of back yard and side of house landscaping.
WOW! I can't say enough wonderful things about the team at Lavish Gardens. We had our back yard COMPLETELY landscaped from a fairly large dirt lot into our dream backyard oasis. We able to speak directly with the owner/team members throughout our complete backyard landscaping. We had the opportunity to design our back yard with the help from a licensed landscape designer Daniel, who incorporated our desires as his top priority in the design. Naturally, we had several questions along the way, and we always received a prompt call back from our landscape supervisor, Steve. Michael Cole and his crew were consistently professional, courteous, and very knowledgeable about the process and the various services they provided. For most, landscaping is a stressful and lengthy process. We never had this experience, as the Lavish Garden team handled every aspect of the job details, all while keeping our visions for our backyard oasis as their number one priority. It was nice to feel in charge of the process, without feeling burdened by any of the details. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND LASISH GARDENS FOR YOUR LANDSCAPING NEEDS.

I am extremely happy with the work that was done. it went from an overgrown backyard with an antiquated water delivery system to what I feel is an efficient water delivery system that does not over water especially with the on going drought. The replanted trees are doing well and appear to be thriving. The drip system is fulfilling its purpose of watering the trees and plants as well as keeping the dogs away from the drip lines themselves. I have had Lavish do wonderful work for me in the past, and I will look forward to them helping me in all my future projects. Steve and Mike were very responsive to any questions, thoughts and ideas I had. They were quick to provide answers and I felt we were in sync during the length of the project which was not a very long process. They were there when they stated they would be and stayed longer if they needed a bit more time to finish what they started. They communicated very well and I cannot state how important it is for me to have good communication. I never felt out of the loop and will always give their name to anyone who states they need landscaping services.
Description of Work: They provided me with a new 6 station control box, all new water efficient sprinkler heads in the front yard. Planted two ever green trees in the front yard that were in pots. In the back yard, they removed existing bushes and ground cover that were over grown, this provided me with much needed room. The back yard also received brand new drip lines and emitters. These were buried deeper to avoid any potential destruction by the dogs. They also removed one Magnolia tree while replanting the second Magnolia tree in a more ideal spot. They removed all debris as if there had been no work done.

I would highly recommend Jerry Lipp from Lavish Gardens Landscape. Jerry is a knowledgable, courteous, generous and ethical man. This is a rarity in todays world and I so appreciated his appraisal of my drainage and landscaping issue. Although the company could not complete the job because it is such a small scale job, Jerry spent alot of time making suggestions and giving me valuable information so that a handyman can do it correctly. I have no doubt in my mind that should I decide to have xeriscaping done in the future, this will be the company that I hire.
