First place I can't believe this company is on Angie list, it will change my mind about how you will just take any business!!...My elderly Mother was told her air conditioner needed replaced because it was old...they came back 6 months later to tell her if she replaced again she will get a tax write off!!!....Charge her $13,000!!.. They enjoy ripping off elderly people...they agree to give her 3 years of free checkups...it is very hard for her to get an appointment because they know it is free. They want to charge her over $200 for changing air filters...and bulbs!! Such a rip off....Angie list people you better examine who you have as customers...not sure I will trust you either!....yes they have 3 F's ...you should have taken them off then!
Description of Work: Replace air conditioner twice in 1 year!!!

Our furnace unit became unreliable, shutting off due to an overheating issue. After the first service visit, it became evident that the furnace would need to be replaced as it was rusting through due to a leak, a new A/C unit would be installed to work with the new furnace, and a duct cleaning was recommended as well. One Hour Air & Heating replaced both furnace and air conditioner units, replacing our 4 ton unit with a 5 ton unit (due to the units being financed through the HERO program). During the furnace and A/C installations, we were told the duct work in the attic was showing age and it was recommended that it be replaced as well. We reluctantly agreed to have the duct work replaced, which added another $3000 or so to the original cost estimate. They added an attic fan as part of the attic duct work. The new furnace and A/C units seem to work well enough, although they're much louder than the old system. We still continue to have problems with the cooling system - it's freezing downstairs, yet still hot upstairs, despite the new system. Shutting down some of the downstairs vents seems to help a little, but I'd hoped the new system, duct work and attic fan would have solved that issue. It may just be an issue due to being a 2 story dwelling. We just hope we didn't end up overpaying for the system and duct work, as we both thought the price was a bit high. Their work crew was very friendly, explained everything well, and appear to have done a good job with the install overall.
Description of Work: We ended up replacing the existing furnace unit, A/C unit, attic duct work was replaced and an attic fan was added, and the duct work was cleaned.

They were professional, clean, and always available for questions. The gentleman who came out to provide the estimate came out a few additional times to answer my husbands questions, and even came out a few times pretty late at night, which we really appreciated.

Bad!
Description of Work: I called because of rain water leaking through the air intake in the hall way. They came and told me the air conditioner was rotted through and needed replacing. After they installed the new unit it rained and leaked just the same as before. This time at night and damaged my new hardwood floor When I called, the receptionist told me to call the roofer. After getting to the manager I eventually got the repair made a few days later. About a week later I got a call from a recycler wanting to know if he could have my old unit. It was in good shape and worked fine. I was taken! I didn't need a new unit at all. Company didn't respond to that question.

Description of Work: Man came and inspected and I said it needed servicing and he would his crew to do the work. Instead of a crew, he came back and cleaned and checked coolant levels and charged $225. He said I had significant leaks that should be taken care of. He said it would be $500 to repair leaks. A crew came and went up in the attic for a while, then came down and said everything was taken care of. I asked him about the leaks and he said there weren't any.

One Hour AC & Heating (1-866-655-4843) are crooks. Their service rep, Daniel (951837-9735), told me that I needed a whole new AC system, because it was too old among other things. He charged me $129 (for doing nothing but coming out) and was supposed to give me a quote the next day. I called another company the next day to get a second opinion--and they cleaned the evaporator coil and charged the system. They said the system is relatively new and did not need changing. Daniel caused a lot of stress to my life those days. Anytime a company asks for a credit card before they come out, beware of their intentions. It is better to wait in the heat and carefully select a good company that will come free of charge or charge minimally.
Description of Work: Daniel from One Hour came to my house during the heat wave to service our AC that had condensation forming on the pipes. My evaporator coil needed cleaning and the compressor needed a few pounds of freon. My system is only a few years old.

Description of Work: One Hour a/c & Heating sent a card offering a safety inspection. I called for an appointment and was given one. On the day of the appointment a representative called and said they could not make it due to a high volume of requests for repair service. They were to call later in the week with an appointment. I called and was told they were still busy and I would be placed on a wait list. I asked where was I on that list and was told they couldn't say. We know service calls pay more but we also know to stay in business one needs to keep a commitment. We are still looking for service andnow we will find someone we can trust. Thank you for this service.

Rep. came to house and we determined what had to be done. The rep. was apparently well- informed and competent. However the rep. did not accurately report the terms of the financial agreement, despite the fact that I asked her to reiterate one aspect of the transaction. She persisted to defend what turned out to be inaccurate and cost me a substantial amount. I should mention that I brought up this issue with the office and they said that they would call to give me a response - they never called. Regarding the work: The basic installation of the a/c hardware was OK and the system works fine. However, some of the work was sloppily done and they had to come back to correct these problems. If I wasn't watching carefully, these would not have been corrected. The work on the installation of the duct registers was especially problematic. Some of the registers were not aligned squarely, others were not installed flat against wall and the gap was crudely caulked. Further, instead of drilling holes for the installation of the new registers before screwing them down, they forced the screws through the plaster and into the metal flange without pre-drilling. This loosened large chunks of plaster (but this did not show) - this will be a problem for painters who need to remove the register before painting in the future. All in all this work ended up OK, but I would advise new customers to be very cautious with regard to setting up the contract and to watch carefully all aspects of the work to be done.
Description of Work: Installed complete a/c system and ducting.

Bought two tune up certificates from Groupon. One Hour's tech arrived on time. He was very nice. Told me that the upstairs unit was empty of freon. That there was a leak somewhere. The cost to do a leak test would be $883. If the leak was not in the tubing then it would cost additional, possibly a new unit. He called his supervisor and they offered us a discounted price to re-tube, that we could apply to a new unit, if that did not work. The catch? We had to accept it that day or it was void. My husband told him, thanks but no thanks and we called another company. Got everything fixed for half the price.

I have to say that if all service companies were run like this, there would be few issues to complain about. They were very concsientious of my home and family(pets insluded), so we had no complaints of their activities. They came when promised and stayed until the job was done, even in bad weather. Asked for our input when needed, and never presumed we were not important to their work. They went out of their way to ensure our understanding and satisfaction. The staff was quite knlowledgable, and thorough in their analysis of our particular issues, and solved them without undue interruption in our lives. The home is now comfortable from the smallest 50sqft. bathroom to the largest 650sqft. family room, and from one end of the building to the other end. The system is quiet and easy to operate. I would recommend this company to others.
Description of Work: We had to rebuild the HVAC system from scratch, as the house had been expanded and the old systems (2) were not working well for the expansion. We obtained proce qoutes from 3 referred providers of Trane HVAC systems. We liked the thoroughness of OCLOCK (parent company) satisfaction guarrantees and financing options. Although the One-Hour quuote was for a 5 ton, 14 seer system, and was $3000 more than the competion, but when we asked for them to meet the competition's quotes, they were willing to do so with comparative equipment service warranty and manufacturer's warranties. This One-hour heating and Air franchise fully supports the premise of the parent company, with superior satisfaction guarranties. An estimate of 3 days of working time was given for installation; they actually took more because we had to stop work to allow for replacing concrete walk where the condenser was to be installed. That was our fault, but when we called for them to return, they came out the same day. They installed 2 new large ducts to the great room, and were carefull in all procedures, making little change to our existing decor. They removed both old furnaces and had the old openings corrected by their subcontractor in short order so we had effecient heating for the first time since we purchased the house in November 2011. They prgrammed the thermostat and showed us how it was done. And They did not ask for a penny until the job was completed. They were able to correct the inbalances in the system ducting and bring uniform cooling to all parts of the home, which was not easy since we have a 600+ sq.ft. great room and the remaining rooms averageing 120-180sqft. The staff conducted themselves well, and all the work was as prompt as possible. All procedures by ancillary craftsmen and services were explained well, and coordinated in a timely manner. We also had work done by their affiliated plumbing company, and while a bit pricy, the workmanship was excellent and they were true to their creedo of 24/7 availability.

The technician presented a long list of problems with the heater. Most of the issues had a small possibility of creating problems in the next 50 years, nothing that required immediate attention. He turned off the gas to the heater and posted large yellow warning stickers on the indoor and outdoor units. Many householders probably would have been convinced to spend $3000 and possibly more to protect their family. I turned them down. The best thing to come out of the experience was I joined Angies list, found a reputable contractor who charged $250 for more freon. The only issue he found with the heater was that it was a little old.
Description of Work: Called them to look at the air conditioner because it was not cooling well. The tech focused most of his time creating a long list of problems with the heater. No work was actually performed.

Our air conditioning unit wasn't blowing cold air so I called this company. They responded quickly and were very punctual. I was told up front what the service charge would be. The technician looked at the unit outside and then went into the attic crawl apace where the furnace is located. He came down with pictures of cracks and told us the freeon was leaking, there was a carbon monoxide leak and he was shutting down the unit because of the unsafe conditions. He also stated that there were indications of unsafe bacterial/fungal growths. He informed us that the gas company would declare the house unfit for human habitation and declared that he had the authority to do so himself but he was certain we wouldn't use it, so he wouldn't do so. My two grandchildren were a few feet away from the area he was discussing so we were ready to tear down the house if necessary. We mentioned something about "repair"and he said "This is all too unsafe. I will NOT repair. I would only replace items in this house. The house was built in the late 70's. Another decision maker in my family was away on business so we agreed to have the company supervisor come 4 days later to discuss our "options". Figures of $5,000 - $20,000 were mentioned. In the meantime we called another contractor for a second opinion. He stated that the compressor needed to be replaced and suggested the entire outside unit be replaced since some components had burned out. He came back the next day and installed a new unit which is working like a charm. He went into the crawl space and could not understand how the tech was able to ascertain that there was a CO leak without turning on the heat. He turned on the heat and saw no evidence of cracks, no CO was present, filters were so clean they didn't need to be replaced and the unit was deemed efficient and perfectly safe. He knew what ONE HOUR told me and he could easily have agreed and gotten the work for himself. The entire job cost $2700. I will be writing a GLOWING review for this company - Toro! How can people like One Hour sleep at night?
Description of Work: A service call was made and the air conditioning unit outside was inspected as was the attic crawl space where the furnace is located.

I trusted them to fix this problem, but it actually made a flood in my second bedroom. I had to clean up the flood by myself for three days. I would not want any other human to go through what I had to go through. I spoke with the manager about this, and he said they could not do anything for me because my water heater is 15 years old. He told me that I would have to replace the water heater and the least expensive one they had was $1600. He also decided to hang up on me.
Description of Work: The first time they came out they serviced the water heater. After they serviced the water heater, I started to have problems. They came back and they said it was a problem with the t&p valve. They replaced the valve for $255.

Anyone who uses these people is crazy. I originally thought these guys were crooks. I was wrong, they're not crooks. THEY ARE INCOMPETENT!
Description of Work: Ready? This is going to take a awhile. Called these guys thinking it was still Ballard. Not true. Ballard sold out to these guys and they are still using his name. Problem: Gas would shut off after initially lighting. Problem was solved by cleaning a sensor. Should have cost maybe 80-100. 1. Told me my heat exchanger was bad. Not true. Verified with 2 other contractors Ht. Ex. was good 2. Tech told us that he going to call the gas company to report a "dangerous heater". Not true. Called the gas company - no one called and that's not the way do they (GC) does business. Only the GC can "red tag" furnaces. 3. Told me the vent pipe was leaking water causing the gas to shut off. (This was total BS). Charged me 460.00 to replace the vent pipe. BTW: The vent pipe had nothing to do with any problem.
