J & J Landscaping

At first, it was good. I had them about a year, at $100.- a month, kind of expensive but they made lots of promises. Then...they didn't show because their mower broke, didn't call or text me, and wanted me to pay them anyway. They were supposed to come Saturday mornings, but they came Fridays, then one week I had to practically bet them to come because I was having a party, they finally showed up Saturday afternoon. I had to ask them repeatedly to cut the grass around the sprinklers so they didn't get blocked. They promised to pull weeds, I had to tell them where the big ones were and ask them not to allow them to grow knee high like that, and pull them out not cut them. They kept putting trash that blew into my yard in my yard waste bin, aluminum cans, plastic, paper, I would get notes from the garbage collectors about it. They promised to blow my side yard but would leave trash and leaves in the corners. They trampled my ground cover in the back, instead of using the path. Last weekend I spent hours pulling weeds and digging out two of my sprinkler heads and when I spoke with them about it, they denied it and tried to argue with me. They're gone.

They did a good job. They're coming back to put down lava rock at the end of the month. Happy to not have to mow lawn.

After Angie's List Concierge contact her, Norma did contact me at first and called me in the late afternoon to follow up regarding an estimate. We made an appointment for an estimate on Saturday however she failed to show up for the estimate and did not call to inform me of the missed appointment. I left her a voice mail and she also failed to return my voice-mail.

A neighbor notified me of water pouring out of my yard. After calling the city to get the water shut off, the technician informed me that the leak was on my property and that I would need to schedule my own repairs. I called J & J on a Sunday even though their hours didn't include Sunday and my call was immediately picked up. They came out to my house within a few hours and stayed until 8 PM working in the cold by flashlight to finish my repairs. They explained the leak was under the cement walkway and that they were going to try to repair the leak without removing the cement. They successfully dug under the cement and were able to fix the pipe within one day. I couldn't be happier.

They did a real good job landscaping my yard. I was pleased how they clean up the side of the house. They was also hired to do weekly lawn care. They came once to do the lawn work. After that they did not come. After about 2 weeks I call to see if they coming to do our yard work. I spoke with the owner on a Saturday. She told me that they had lawn machine that needed to be repair. She assured me that they would come the follow Monday. They never did show up or call. The quality of there work was good. I gave them b and c because I felt they was unprofessional in being responsive and puncture. I want to depend on someone who will always be there to maintain my yard. I gave them a D for professionalism because that is not how a good business should maintain there business.

They are wonderful. I got them from Angie’s List. They do a very good job as long as you keep an eye on who’s doing it and what they are doing. It seems that the owner is fantastic especially if she is the one who comes here. But the younger ones tend to mess up sometimes so I keep a watch on them. When that happens, I give her a call and she comes the next day and takes care of it. I like that they are always here and if for some reason they can’t make it, which happens sometimes, she either calls or text me. She does not live me wondering what happened. Their price is good like anyone else. They listen to what I want to do with my lawn. They are very good at being responsive.

They are responsive to our needs and easy to work with, They care about their work and they do a good job. The pricing is good. I would recommend them.

I contacted the provider to get a estimate for landscaping maintenance. The provider emailed me back asking what day I would like to make an appointment and I advised the provider I am open to any date. The provider called me on the phone and we setup an appointment for Friday the 29th. The person never showed up nor did they call to inform me they cannot make it or to reschedule. I emailed the provider through Angies List on Friday the 29th to ask why they did not show and if they still wanted to provide me with an estimate but still have not heard back yet. The fact that they did not show up nor call to inform me they are not showing up and to reschedule is extremely unprofessional and a major hit to their reliability and creditability.

This is the third time I have used J & J Landscaping. First time I asked Norma to take a look at my lawn because it was brown in several spots even though another contractor had installed a new sprinkler system. Norma told me sprinklers were working fine but my start times and duration needed to be corrected. She also told me I needed to apply fertilizer. That was a no-charge visit. I tried what Norma said and within days my entire lawn was greening up. Next time I called was to get some help with trimming a sago palm and some bird of paradise. She arrived with her crew who made short work of my overgrown tree and plants. While she was there I spoke to her about my desire to have some kind of hardscape between my drive and walkway. She said she could handle that. This recent time, I wanted to have some turf removed and replaced with bricks. Norma came by to take measurements and I asked if she could make use of the bricks I had on hand. She took a look at them and indicated that the job would need more "used" brick. I expected that. Norma got back to me the next day with a very reasonable estimate which included all materials and labor. I accepted and we agreed upon a start date. Due to a change in her schedule, she asked if I was able to let the crew start the job several days sooner. That worked for me so the job was completed a few days sooner, which was great for me. Her crew is very hardworking, efficient, and form a great team. There is no standing around or wasting time. They work quickly and expertly. They show up on time, pick-up after themselves, are courteous. Martin, the gentleman who did the brick work is really an artist and craftsman. I needed some help with deciding on a pattern for the bricks. He laid bricks out in several sample patterns which helped me visualize what the finished area would look like. Martin's design blended the bricks I had on hand with the new "used" bricks. He also suggested a decorous improvement to my walkway which really made an integrated design. Norma is always available via phone and text and did not leave me hanging at any time in terms of getting back to me when I reached out to her.

They did not know what they were doing. They could not diagnose the problem with my sprinklers.

They were on time and got right to work! Excellent services, we highly recommend them to anyone looking for good reliable landscaping service. Trimmed all our bushes in the yard, and even did extra. Very polite, and knew what they were doing.

This project was a lot of hard work and J&J Landscaping did the job very well. They responded to our request quickly. Work started the next week. First they had to remove some of the old landscaping and pull a lot of weeds, there was a lot of weeds. Next they trimmed all existing plants and trees. They followed by adding new plantings to the landscape, roses, Lilly of the valley, etc. Then they replaced the old water pipes and put in a new drip irrigation system with timer. Each little plant has it's own little tiny sprinkler, soo cute. They then cleaned up the grounds with gravel and put artificial grass in selective areas, requested by my husband, there is one area that looks like a pond. Norma and her workers went out of there way to give us everything we requested. I have never seen any group work harder in my life. We are very pleased with everything that was done, and the price was very reasonable. We would highly recommend J&J Landscaping for all your projects. We Love our yard again.....

Didn't do the job, never showed up

Norma and her crew were great. My yard was a mess; a complete gut job. They had to first clean out all the weeds and dead grass. They traced the irrigation system and replaced part of the pipes and all of the controls. They prepped the ground for sod and laid it. They also planted flowers and plants in the flower bed. They arrived when they said they would and worked a full each day they came. My yard was done in 3 days and is absolutely beautiful. They did such a good job that I immediately contracted with them to do some work in my back yard. I am so happy the work they did and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good and reliable landscaping company.

They are a great team, very professional and they were on top of any situation that came up. We liked Norma so much that we are using her to maintain our lawn and garden.

Norma and her crew are amazing! Their work is first rate. It is obvious they have a passion for what they do and they are all nice people. They pay attention to detail and that is truly appreciated. The rates are more than reasonable. We have been more pleased with Norma than with any other gardners we have had in the past 15 years. We are so happy to have found her through Angie's List!!!

I got them from Angie's List and they were great. While they were mowing, a freak thing happened. Their lawn mower threw a rock and it broke the glass on my sliding glass door. They completely, they took complete responsibility and replaced the sliding glass door. They replaced the glass, I didn't do anything, I didn't pay a dime. They could have denied it but they didn't. Nobody actually saw it happen but it was obvious that it happened while they were mowing. They were fantastic.

Norma quickly responded to my inquiry. Gave me an estimate with a great price and did an excellent job. J and J has been doing my yard work now for about 6 months now and it has been flawless. Very very pleased.

I am sure I have reviewed J & J previously, but since it has been a while I wanted to up-date. After over a year of working with Norma and her sons, we are still extremely happy with her work. About 4 months after she started, I noticed that, while our yards usually looked good, it was becoming apparent the front areas looked even better than usual. We also were receiving comments from our neighbors on how lush and beautiful our grass and plants were. She is quick to let us know what needs to be done. If we wish, she will purchase fertilizer, etc and apply--adding the cost to our bill. Usually we purchase what she suggests ourselves and they apply at no additional charge. It is done regularly and it shows. Actually, since seeing is the best advetisement, she now does four additional homes in our immediate area. She's good!!!! She's reasonable and reliable.

J&J Landscape did a beautiful job. The front and back look like completely new yards. Norma and her sons (Jesus and Jose) were a pleasure to deal with. Very friendly, professional and know the business well. They were on-time, responsive and answered all of my questions quickly. I'm also amazed they did so much for such a reasonable price. We were so impressed, we decided to have them come every two weeks to maintain the yard, which was also offered at a very reasonable price. I would definitely use them again and refer them to friends & neighbors.

Norma and her crew did everything right, from the first time I called her until she left the job. Excellent job and reasonably priced.

Norma and her "boys" have been doing our lawn work for almost a year now and we are extremely pleased with their work. Norma is a real "pistol" and is on top of everything. She is always a working part of her crew (unless unforeseen problems arise) and she is always aware of what is going on. Her sons are following in her footsteps and learning a very demanding trade. When things are slow (seasonal changes) they are willing to do small extras at our request and it is appreciated. If she does not have the answer, she will get it. No one knows everything and she doesn't try to mislead you into thinking she does. She will find out for you though. If any minus, it is that (as usual) no one is quite as careful as you would be yourself and there are occasionally "accidents", but compared to other services we have had, these folks are super. All in all, we recommend J & J wholeheartedly.

The price was just too expensive. Our lawn is not very big at all so this price just seemed to be out of our price range for the size of our yard.

I was pleased that they offered to put flags on all the sprinklers, so as not to run over the sprinkler heads. They also mowed the lawns quite short before the aeration was performed so as to be able to deeply penetrate the lawns.
