Burkett's Pool Plastering Inc

Burkett's removed the old cracked asbestos kool-deck surrounding the pool, poured a completely new pool deck, removed a spa wall, put in new channel drains, pressure tested existing plumbing, replaced old 3 way valves at pump location, replaced old pool light, and refinished the pool with a beautiful new pebble finish along with new tile at the water line. Work was done on time at budget. Communication with me was very good, no surprises. I was out of town for the pool start-up so they coordinated with my regular pool service folks. Had one issue with the way a pool timer was rewired which caused a timer failure. Burkett's replaced the timer at no charge to me. Overall I was very pleased and I love the pool.

There are always a few glitches in any project. Overall it went well. There could have been better communication. I was not always informed when I needed to be there to approve certain aspects of the project. For example at the beginning of the project I had to go out of town on a Friday and Friday night I got a call to see if I approved the shape of the new shelf because they were going to do gunite the next day (Saturday). Fortunately I had a friend who went to look at it and sent me pictures so I was able to approve it over the phone, otherwise it would have delayed the project a week. the The color of the stamped concrete was not what I had expected but it does go well with the pool and I'm told it will change when sealed, which this company doesn't do. I'm happy with the finished product.

My neighbor had her pool resurfaced by Burkett's a few years ago. I called them to get an estimate for the pool, decking, patio, and eventually a pool cabana. Nick came out twice to measure and make notes. The day he was supposed to come out and give me the estimate and discuss it with me he called and said his car broke down and would need to reschedule. I never heard from him again :( I emailed to hopefully get the estimate without a visit but never heard back. Very disappointing.

They must have all the work they need as they do not respond to multiple forms of contact.

Everything went very well. We were able to get an estimate and the work done very quickly. Everyone was good to talk with and helpful. Our only concern was that we were told that we couldn't get replacement coping for our old pool. We we were told if our pool tile damage was so severe that the coping needed to be replaced, that we would have to buy all new coping because you couldn't get replacement coping for the old pools. Luckily we found out that there is a company that does make the old coping and if we had needed it , it would have saved us around $1000 . Luckily our coping did not need to be replaced. All in all we were very happy with Burketts.

From start to finish - EXCELLENT communication. I always knew who was coming and when, and what they were supposed to do. I didn't have to be home for anything. The project manager came out several times to check on the work, and if something was amiss, he made sure it got on the work order list and taken care of. The city caused most of the trouble; we had an inspector who clearly had personal issues - he took them out on me, but Burkett's did everything this guy came up with at absolutely no extra cost to me - just a substantial loss of time, but completely out of Burkett's control. They were there the minute inspections got signed off. There are still a couple of punch list items to take care of, but they got the last check and haven't forgotten me! I would use this company for anything I needed done that they can do.

Horribly mismanaged. Avoid. The end result looks good, but the process was painful. Project took >8 months from signing contract to completion, when easily could have been done in 2 months with good project management. Everyone on the staff I met / spoke with is very nice and friendly, so I can only assume the problem is basic Management Incompetence. I was constantly being told workers would be out to my house on a specific date, then they wouldn't show, and after I called to ask why not was told they're just overly busy and will be out the following week... and that cycle would repeat. I must have placed over 100 calls during the project to followup on their lack of follow through. At one point I even paid an online service to track down the home phone number of the CEO to try to get service. I've never had to do that before, but I had to go to extremes to get them to actually show up and do their job as their lack of communication, constant delays and broken promises was the worst I've ever experienced. Individual workers, and the sales rep, who came out to our house were all great and seemed competent. We're now loving our pool, but it was a very, unnecessarily, painful process to get to this point.

Salesman Leo Gomez came out, took measurements and said I'd have a bid in 3 days. A week later I reached out to him asking where the bid was- he then sent it to me. I inquired about adding a few extra features that we had discussed during his sales call, but he had neglected to put into the bid. No response. I again sent a message asking about adding more to his bid and seeing if we could move forward... still nothing. I really would have prefered he just have not shown up, rather than waste my time.

We were very impressed with Burkett Pool from the initial contact following our call for an estimate. The estimator, Jason, was thorough in his assessment of what we wanted done, the process that would follow, and the costs. Each item was priced separately. Our contact at Burkett's was Chris, who kept us up-to-date on what would be done and who would be there to do it. She called each time one process finished to give us info we'd need and when the next step would be done and by whom. Each step was completed as scheduled. Each crew seemed to be the specialists for that particular job. Sometimes they cam early to get started. They worked all the while they were here and left the surrounding area very clean! If we had questions, Chris would answer them or consult with someone who could answer our concern. We would recommend Burkett's Pool Refinishers to anyone. Our pool looks great!

They provide a working schedule sent on a PDF document and I have to say they follow pretty much the schedule.

Rep showed up on time and was very professional. I did not chose them because the estimate was too high.

My overall experience with them was very good. I liked their customer service. I would tell others that they were good, but they kind of have to watch the workers because they didn’t follow our contract on one day. Then I had to call in and their manager clarified actually everything within ten minutes.

They did excellent and on time and budget, very professional, I would highly recommend them to anyone...

I checked Angies list, saw a good review, went tot heir website, asked for a quote, they called me back and made an appointment for today and then they no call/no showed.

We chose Burkett's after receiving bids from three companies. The bid from Burkett's was very close to a bid we received from another reputable pool company. The deciding factor for me was the salesperson. He listened carefully and didn't pressure me to choose options that were beyond my means. He was knowledgable about his company and products and was willing to take time to explain options to me. When we decided to go with Burkett's, we were given an approximate timetable for our project. It took almost two weeks to hear from the person in charge of scheduling our project, which made me a little nervous. But once we had a schedule, the project ran very smoothly. There was a project manager assigned to our remodel. He checked in frequently, and was easy to contact. The pool workers were wonderful. They showed up on time and did beautiful work. Everyone was respectful and friendly. Our project was completed by the date promised and our pool looks fabulous. We couldn't be happier with Burkett's. So glad we found them on Angie's list!

Burkett's came to measure and provide a quote. I have gotten bids from other vendors and all the pricing was similar. I was not comfortable going with a small (one person company) even if they have been doing it for over 25 years. So I went with Burkett. My experience was very good. They honored the quote they gave me after a couple of months. Made the deposit of $500. They called when the cover came after 2.5 weeks. Three men came (one guy was new and was in training) and they were done in 1-2 hours. They even gave me tips on how to care for my cover. I would highly recommend them even though pool cover is only one of the services they offer.

Very professional. All of the workers are employees of the company (no subcontractors). We were contacted a few days prior to each project start date & told the time to expect the team and the leader's name. The workers were friendly and responsive to our questions and concerns. The project manager dropped by periodically and whenever we had a question or concern he would quickly respond. The weather caused some delays so the completion date was pushed back but that was beyond their control. We had a few frustrations with the waterfall as it leaked and when they did repair work it was not to our liking -- after sending pictures of our concern along with an email, they fixed everything to our satisfaction -- and did so within a very reasonable time.

Estimator came out to show us what could be done to update and extend the life of our pool, which is at least 35 years old. Different plaster choices and newer pebble tec samples were shown, discussed and priced. New pool features were also reviewed including converting to a salt system, auto fill and remote control of equipment. We were able to add and subtract what was and was not important to us while keeping within a reasonable budget. Work started in about 2 weeks and went steadily. All crews worked hard and cleaned up after themselves daily. We were also getting our patio and cool deck resurfaced and Burkett's worked with that company to schedule the work so that the entire project would be finished on time and look great. The new equipment is super quiet and energy efficient. At the end a representative came out to explain the features and put start up chemicals in the pool. Three days later the project manager came out to go over operation of the equipment and insure our satisfaction. Both gave us their business cards and told us to call them with any future questions or concerns.

Prior to the installation date, an estimator came to inspect the filter and timer and provided a writeup of the cost for their replacement and for labor. On the day of installation, the two installers arrived a bit late, but after their initial inspection of the layout, quickly began to unload the truck and remove the existing filter and timer. After a few hours, the work was complete, they cleaned up the area, then they explained the new digital timer to me. The next morning the pool water was VERY clear, and has been ever since! The new equipment is working great and there is no problem with the installation. My pool is due for refinishing/plastering and when the time comes, I will use Burkett's without hesitation.

Burkett's came out promptly and on-time to do the initial inspection and developed a quote for us then and there. They had samples of the choices available to us, both color and texture. The sales rep carefully explained all of our options and his recommendations and why he made them, in clear and understandable terms. He did not rush us or use escessive techie terms. We explained we had to do some homework as all as other bids. That was fine with him, no pressure whatssoever. A few days later, after some internet research as well as 2 other bids, we called back. W e received a prompt call back and a on-tiome visit to finalize our contract. The crew came out when promised and really did a good job. No issues or problems, they knew what they were doing and kept us advised as they went as to what they were doing. They were very thorough, cleaned up after themsleves everyday and were very pleasant. After we re-filled the poo, the chemical guy came out as promised and again, we were very happy with his helpfulness, knowledge and patience.All in all, we are very happy with the pool and the work done. The pool looks beautiful and after three months, we are happy to recommend Burkett's with no reservations. Burkett's was not the lowest bidder, but we were impressed by the people we met and worked with plus as a bonus, they are a local firm. They came with good recommendations. You get waht you pay for, we got a great deal with Burkett's in our opinion.

They were prompt and professional. I will probably contact them when I have the funds required for the repair work.

My realtor had recommended Burkett's to me and arranged the initial estimate to be done on my pool and spa. What i wanted was to replace or upgrade the pool and spa equipment if needed; move the equipment 25 ft; re-plaster the pool with a dark color or replace the plaster with a pebble tech product. The estimate came back at between 22,000 to 25,000. I have a small and shallower pool and a small spa so, i could not believe the quote. I called the sales rep steve and left a message explaining that that quote was too high and could we work to get the price down through seasonal specials or equipment packages, and I have NEVER heard from him again. I complained to my realtor and they were upset as they give Burkett's a lot of business. Since, then i have gotten another quote from a rival company, Adams Pool specialities, who were very nice and when i showed him the quote from Burkett's, he told me that was too high for the work to be done. I will be using Adams Pool specialties for the work as they got back to me with a quote that was much lower than the one from Burkett's.

Our 40' kidney-shaped pool really needed some updating, since it is 25 years old. Our neighborhood is a few blocks from Sunset Gardens Magazine-so my husband and I decided that, since we were really going to update the pool (finally), we should really make it worthy of the great and beautiful neighborhood! We called several pool companies, and really spent a lengthy amount of time in researching which company would do the absolute best and LONG TERM great job-at a fair and reasonable price. One local pool company came out, then actually sent a bid to us, that was not even our pool! I left several messages with the receptionist and went into the owner's voicemail 3 times. Each time, I was very polite, but wondered why we received specs for pool work that was not ours. Hmm. The second pool company sent a very handsome gentleman that was wearing a leather jacket, and since it was raining-he refused to go outdoors! We were quite surprised, and although he talked a good story, his actions did not illustrate the work ethic that we were searching for. During this process, we interviewed several masons. We wanted to cover all bases, and bring the right crew in, that would create a masterpiece in our back yard! Several masons came and gave us estimates to create new decking. We heard about many various styles of stonework-each different-that could be used to create a custom, beautiful "landing" space for the pool and party areas. We never really tired of the process, because my husband does a significant amount of research in his job. He took it as a personal challenge-to find the very best, overall pool and plastering company. We eventually called Burkett's Pool and Plastering in Ripon, CA. We had absolutely no idea where Ripon, Ca was, but we were absolutely amazed at the amount of expertise, enthusiasm and detail that the Burkett's area rep, Mark Tromblee brought to our home when he arrived! He was pleasant, nice and genuine-almost too good to be true! But, our research had led us to Burkett's with much positive feedback-so we began the process of deciding, with Mark Tromblee's assistance and great listening skills, exactly the look we desired for our backyard. I will cut to the end result-because, as you might guess...we ended up with a fabulous resort feel in the yards! I say "yards", because, the Burkett's crews were so good, that we had them not only resurface the pool with WetEdge (to which we added abalone!), but we had them add a waterfall to the pool, and do the complete pool surround with their products! We also had them create a sitting area under our Heritage pine tree, and create a new walkway into the backyard, and an additional walkway in the front yard-towards the other back side of he house- It also became a beautiful resting place (Just like Sunset Gardens advises!). Our Project Manager, Mike Santos was also amazing! He is a very busy guy, but each time he came to access the progress...he was very hands on! My husband and I felt like both Mark Tromblee and Mike Santos truly tried to help create the relaxing feel, that we did end up creating! THEY WANTED TO PLEASE US-AND IT WAS EXCITING! I am not kidding, as I write this review-the Burkett's team really brings it all! We felt like we were on a reality tv show on most days, because not one lonely truck would arrive-but a whole fleet of experienced pool guys came to us-to work with smiles. And, I might add-they worked very hard! My husband-in the end, added 3 huge boulders, again, as resting spots around the yards. The crews just did what we asked, and more specifically-what Mike Santos (the Project Manager) said to do. So, if you live on the peninsula, as we do-you should feel very comfortable with hiring Burkett's to do your pool, because our MP City inspectors praised Burkett's work-and they should know what fine work looks like!. Several of our friends know that my husband is quite thorough, and they are signed up to have Burkett's work in their yards also. Relax, and enjoy the lovely design that you and Burkett's create! Excuse me..I must go now...it's cocktail time by the pool! ;-)

As advertised - Stuck to schedule - employees were knowledgeable and efficient. All employees seemed well versed in their roles (not their first rodeo) Cleaned up after work each day. Hard working group.
