Very impressed with their work ~ much attention to detail. Billy Flanagan, the owner and project manager, was very accomodating and worked with our schedule. Oscar and Antonio made a great painting team. I would definitely use them again and refer to family and friends.

The ceilings and walls were painted well. Where the job was done very poorly was the doors and banisters. They did NOT prime wood before painting so after job was done the paint literally peeled off. I called Randy out and he even appeared a little shocked and said they would make it right. Well to make it right took additional days which was quite a bother for us. The same and quot;headand quot; painter when painting doors wasn't careful enough and got paint into rooms on paint that wasn't suppose to be painted which required more painting by me after the fact (plus attempts to match paint) .When painters painted baseboards they thought nothing of getting paint on carpeting. Even telling them to clean that up didn't make a difference, they didn't. Lastly, the painter who came to sand all the doors and prime/repaint didn't even put up protective barriers. Dust everywhere!! It took me 3 weeks to get the dust out of all the crevices and wash clothes, bedding just everything. Horrible

Started when promised. Did all the work we asked to be done. Always checked with us as to satisfaction.

They did a good job. They were clean and neat with what they did. I would use them again in the future.

They did a good job and we are very satisfied. The price was reasonable and the workers were very good. It was all exterior painting. I spent $3000-4000 but a good amount of it was on the materials and on the carpentry work. They are easy to work with. The job itself had taken quite a while because they only came one or two days a week. The job took longer to complete than we would have liked but other than that everything else was good.

We needed to paint the interior of an entire three bedroom home, from top to bottom. The house was in poor condition and also needed extensive prep work. By the time we'd called Cal Painting, we'd received bids as high as $18,000. When we first met with Randy, we told him that the house was destined to become a rental property and that we were looking for a "good enough" paint job, rather than perfection. He understood what we were saying, and responded with a bid of about $6000. Aside from the reasonable pricing, we wanted to work with Randy because of the other reviews we'd read that said he has a good eye for color. We told him that we didn't have strong preferences, we just wanted something nice. He ended up picking a few different paint colors that really highlight the various rooms in a subtle way. Everyone who came to see the house when we were showing it to prospective tenants commented on the beautiful color scheme. Randy and his crew were able to start work as soon as our plasterers were finished which kept the job moving smoothly. The guys were friendly and easy to work with and we never felt uncomfortable stopping by the house to see what they were up to. Their skill level seemed high and I'm sure they're capable of doing impeccable paint jobs. However, since that wasn't what we'd asked for, they worked quickly, and got the job done as cheaply as possible. The results, although not perfect, were more than the "good enough." that we'd asked for, and the price was extremely reasonable.We were so happy with Cal Painting that we decided to extend the job and also got the exterior trim painted.

I had the painting done in stages and he is really good. He is really easy to work with and he is great at giving me ideas on colors and things like that. I live in an old house and I wanted to do some unique things; he was good at working with me and taking ideas. He would get samples and put swatches on the wall, and he took constructive criticism really well and never got offended. The end product was exactly what I envisioned because he was able to take my vision and do it. He is meticulous. He comes back every time there is an earthquake and the walls crack a little bit. He does the touchups for free and he doesn’t have to do that. Everybody I’ve referred him to are also really happy with him. He is definitely not the cheapest but he isn’t the most expensive either.

Randy Mayer, owner of Cal Painting is amazing! He is the easiest contractor that I've ever worked with and is very talented. Holding a degree in Chemical Engineering from Cal Berkeley, he found his passion in painting houses many years ago while working his way through Cal. I'd bought my house 17 years ago and was finally able to budget the paint job after all the other work that had to come first was finished. Needless to say, the stucco was a mess. Choosing colors became very overwhelming, trying to be bright and colorful, yet not become "outdated" or look like I took a spin around the color wheel and got ill. We began with what I wanted to accomplish, what colors I did not like at all, and with his help, ended up with exactly the look and feel of my vision. I used a lot of different colors yet pulled them together from the outside to the inside and from room to room. The faux painting in my living room is the most beautiful job I've ever seen. It began with a vision that was difficult for me to articulate yet over a very short period of time, Randy was able to interpret it and bring it to life. He listens, he's great to work with, and is very willing to make any changes that I requested. He enjoys constructive criticism and uses what he learns for his next projects. I encourage you to look at the before and after pictures! My home truly is a work of art all for a very reasonable price!

He did custom painting in part of the house. It was absolutely exquisite. I had to describe to him what I wanted done, and the finished product is amazing. The colors were all custom as well. He is just amazing. Anything that I had to call him back for, he came back without question and fixed it, even if it was a couple of months later. His service is excellent. His crew is very honest and he's very trustworthy.
