The service turned out excellent. They were very professional and there was a problem with the door bell wiring and they came back and fixed it. They are good.

Good about making appointments, kept appointments or notified if unable to. courteous and efficient.

After completing the attic inspection, the technician reviewed the insulation options with me as well as the energy rebate I would be eligible for. As agreed, I waited to receive the official estimate that was to be sent by email -- unfortunately, it didn't arrive as quickly as I expected. The email had to be re-sent as the original one didn't come through. Although the company and technician were professional, I would have liked to have had the estimate provided me in writing before the technician left my home which is why I ended up using a competitive company that did.

Great service, comprehensive plan for addressing energy efficiency.

Well-meaning but young & for the most part inexperienced workers. They did not arrive with the correct materials or a punchlist. I asked about a punchlist since they were so disorganized and the young man didn't even know what it was! The "energy efficiency audit" is basically an entree for them to sell you a new heater. I got a much cheaper quote with a better heat pump from another heating company I had used in the past. One of the guys actually told a worker to put foam on an area that didn't need any because, "it will make her feel better about what we did." Ruben was excellent, but the rest of the staff was very junior or ir not junior, not interested because my job wasn't big enough. Would never use them again. It took 3 months to get everything done because I was too small a job. I would send emails about scheduling and get no response. I later found out they did some things incorrectly and hadn't noticed that a door was warped and simply needed to be replaced.

The City of Richmond and PGE were both offering good rebates for weatherization. I called some other contractors to get estimates, but none was as professional or diligent in assessing my needs. The workmen were very professional, friendly, and timely, and cleaned up thoroughly when they were done. The staff handled the rebate submissions on my behalf. I have not one criticism.

Everything was fine. I thought it was a little more expensive, but I have not shopped. I think that they would probably be more thorough than most, and that added to the cost. They were going to seal around every little pipe and do all that stuff up in the attic, which most people would just blow in insulation and leave. They were on time, and they were pleasant. They got their estimate to me right way; they were punctual.

I saw the name through Angie's List. I called. Someone came out and gave an estimate. We went back and forth a few times to make sure that all of our concerns were included in the contract. We then had to wait so that we could install some pocket lights before the work was done. I called and was given an appointment relatively quick. They arrived on the day and time they were scheduled. They did the work without a hitch. Overall, it was easy and well done.

A few years ago we replaced a couple of old windows and got insulation with Advanced Home Energy, and we were very happy with the work so we recently used them again to replace the last of our old windows. It took them two visits to properly measure the windows before placing the order, which I wasn't expecting, but everyone was great to work with. The installation was quick and professional, and we love our new windows--now it's nice and cozy for the chilly winter with no more drafts!

The energy audit was great. They were very thorough and ran what appeared to be some pretty sophisticated tests. They had some detailed results that they shared with recommendations for improving the energy efficiency of our home. After several follow ups and additional visits from the lead auditor, we decided on the scope of the work for them to do. They were fairly accommodating in terms of the initial scheduling, and the work took a while, but there was a lot of work to be done! One frustration we had was that AHE has a lot of different employees, and there were different people coming to our house who we hadn't met before. Many of these people were not completely up to speed on our situation, so we found ourselves needing to walk people through the work and repeat ourselves several times because there was not a consistent person running the show. Ultimately the work got done. By removing the old furnace and water heater and installing new ones in different locations, we gained a significant amount of additional usable space in our home. The new appliances do appear to be state of the art and the installation was clean. The employees are professional and respected our home. There were some hiccups, as you might expect with a large company and a big job. The work did not pass inspection right away, and correcting the issues at times was problematic. For one, AHE sent an employee who had not done any of the work to meet with the city inspector. So when the city inspector started asking questions, the AHE employee was not able to answer some of them properly. Had an AHE employee who did the work been present, some of the confusion could have been avoided and maybe we would have passed inspection quicker. One of their employees screwed a CO2 detector into a very visible location in our living room without our consent... to their credit, they apologized, removed it, and patched up the wall very nicely. They did need to bring in a subcontractor plumber to help fix up some of their initial water heater work. Ultimately it turned out OK. Also, our energy bills have not declined as much as we thought they would. Ultimately, we have accepted this and are still very happy with how our home turned out. I would recommend their insulation team for sure. Also they do seem to know their stuff when it comes to furnaces. I would not necessarily recommend them for plumbing / water heaters. The office staff is friendly and they are good people, but I think they have a lot on their plate / might be a bit overworked so sometimes you need to speak up if you need something. We've used them for maintenance after the job was finished and likely will continue to do so.

Everyone at AHE was professional and responsive to our needs. They went the extra mile to ensure that we would be eligible for the $4000 Energy Upgrade rebates by hitting a 40% efficiency improvement, which lowered the cost considerably.

I called Advanced Home Energy based off of reviews on Angie's List and after reviewing their company website. I like the fact that they use renewable, eco-friendly materials for their insulation. I was given an appointment date 2 weeks from the day I called, but I asked the scheduler if an earlier date became available, if they could give me a call to schedule an earlier day. Sure enough, I got a call that a earlier date opened up, an I had an estimator come out 1 week early. The estimator was polite, professional, considerate of keeping my home clean (it was raining that day, so he left his shoes outside), and on-time. He first asked me what I was thinking about in terms of insulation, asked about details of the home, and based on my responses asked me if I considered other options for improving the energy efficiency of the home. I told him that cost containment was important for now and he immediately understood and stuck to just the services I was interested in. We did a walk through of both the attic and the crawl space. He took measurements and discussed the best options for the areas that needed insulation. He educated me a bit on the insulation process and gave me ballpark estimates on the length of time the job would take. He said he would email me an estimate of all the work broken out into different areas so I could pick and choose what work I would like to do if cost became an issue. I received the estimate 2 days later. The price was a little more than I was expecting, so we decided to hold off on installing insulation for now, but not because of their service, but because we had other priorities for home improvement. I informed the estimator that we would not be moving forward at that time, but would strongly consider them in the future. I asked how long the esitmate is good for, and he said 60 days from the date of the estimate. All of the responses to my questions were received within a day. Overall, the initial experience was a good one and we plan to use them in the future.

They do a lot of different things to help insulate a house. They were in line with all of the others out there in terms of pricing . Their service was very good.

The best contractor experience we've ever had. Everyone who came to the house, from the first auditing call on, was on time, on the ball, always efficient, never left a mess, got the jobs done without fuss or drama. The communication and clarity at every step of the project from first encounter to final bill were excellent. We always knew what they were doing and what we were getting. I recommend this company very highly. Our attic still has knob-and-tube wiring; when, during the insulation project, a ceiling light was disconnected by accident, they sent out someone to fix that at no charge. Everyone we dealt with at the company was professional and pleasant. They dissuaded us from doing things that just wouldn't pencil out (solar panels) and broke the work that needs to be done into affordable, manageable "bites."

They were experienced, they were quick and they were efficient.

Always prompt and courteous. Very thorough work. They spent all day checking every area of the house. Report was ready in a few days and the owner spent another couple of hours going over the results and discussing options.

They come out and service my heating and air conditioning system as well. I always recommend them. They are very good, prompt and clean. Their price is about average, and their quality of work is perfect. I would rate them highly and would use them again in the future; in fact, I have just called them to come out and check the system up.

I had the team out for an energy audit, and they did an amazing job-- very thorough, very knowledgeable, with top notch testing equipment and a comfortable demeanor. They are growing in popularity, so it took a couple of weeks to get them out for the audit, but net net, feel very comfortable with their capacity and integrity, and I look forward to having them out to perform the upgrades on the house.

The estimator called 2x before arriving, once to be sure he had the address, and a second time to say he'd be 2 minutes late. He took off his shoes right away upon arrival, and began to ask questions about the temperature of the house. Over the next hour, he walked through our almost completely uninsulated home (1959), which is also drafty. He measured walls and ceilings and took copious notes. At one point, he climbed an outside ladder to look at the roof and crawled through our crawl space (busting through dozens of cobwebs) to get a sense of that area. Throughout, he answered questions thoroughly and treated us as intelligent people. He explained the different kinds of insulation used today and their pros and cons. He also outlined the big picture: how insulation fads have come and gone given new research about them. At the end of his tour, he asked if we'd like the estimate right away, because he could give it if we had a 3-prong outlet for him to use for his laptop. He sat down, and 45 minutes later handed us a very comprehensive estimate for what his company could do. Comparing his estimate to those of a well-known competitor, we were forced to call back the other company and ask for many more details, realizing they hadn't really told us anything except price! AHE's price was 50% higher than the previous estimate, but it seems that they're proposing to do much more. They certainly were more professional and thorough.

They were fairly responsive, but they were a bit expensive. They told me that they would do more than that, but they didn’t come back for the other part of the bid. I might consider using their services in the future.
