They have lots of surcharges, and they use a technique of saying that if we buy their extras then they can work faster. At the beginning they make you signup a list saying that they will not exceed a certain amount, and in my case it was $1200. The original quoted price was for 3 hours for 3 people. After evaluating my stuff at my place, they said that they had to wrap all my stuff with their packing material for $80 - since it was a Sunday, they didn’t have the packing material. The truck showed up late. The main guy was constantly on his cell phone during the whole move, and he really wasn’t moving. The other two guys were really working hard. It just took a lot longer. When they arrived at the destination, they said that they estimated the move to be five and a half hours, and that they would want the balance, which was another $300, before they unloaded, basically holding my stuff hostage. They were speaking a different language all the way. At the end of the move, when they were really running late, and it was becoming obvious that they were going to go over budget, the leader said that they couldn’t put my stuff back into the rooms where I needed them to be, and that they can dump it all into the garage. If I didn’t want them in the garage, then they’d have to charge me more money. I asked them to dump it into the garage. I have photos of my garage being filled with everything. It was the worst experience that I’ve had of moving. When I had first moved up here, I had hired another company that moved the same gear, same stuff. It had taken them two hours. They were on time and on budget, and there were no hassles. I ended up spending $547 on West Moving for all their work. They didn’t break anything major, but in order to move stuff they had to actually wrap it. They did some minor damage to some walls and they broke a couple of handles on our dresser. My experience with them was terrible - I would never use them again. I would never recommend them to anybody.
Description of Work: I used West Moving to move two bedrooms up a four-bedroom house with a downstairs and a garage.

I have to say that company still leave me very frustrated. Hopefully, you will find someone else, anyone, to help you move other than these guys. I called to schedule the move with someone on the phone who tried very hard to sound nice and polite. He promised everything will be perfect for the move and the free boxes will be delivered to my house before the move date. I never received the boxes and the guys that they sent were not professionals but some guys that were very rude and inconsiderate. They came 2 hours late with a very small truck (this is their idea to charge for extra travel time) and tried to charge extra for everything that they can think. After 5 hours of slow pace packing and moving, I wanted to stop the service and told them I will pay for the number of hours that they spent moving. The driver argued that the total time is 7 hours. His told me clock starts from the time the truck arrives, plus the double driving time, plus the breaks for each hour. Since I have a family to worry about and not wanting to see these guys coming to my door at night, I paid them so that they could leave. I am sure the movers are subcontractors, but this is such a bad representation of the company itself for hiring them. The company also floods the craigslist.com website with their ads to crowd out other movers. I had a very bad experience.

I scheduled the move about 2 weeks in advance. Spoke with a guy on the phone who tried very hard to sound nice and polite. He promised that the movers were professionals and everything will be okay. He also promised that the free boxes will be delivered before the move so that we could box up the smaller items. Three days before the move, I called to confirm the appointment and the delivery of the boxes. The person on the phone said everything is confirmed and the boxes will be delivered the next day. No boxes were delivered the next day so I called back to request for the boxes. Again, they promised the boxes to be delivered, but again, it didn't come. On the day of the move, no boxes were delivered, the driver called and said he will be 1 hour late. Two hours later, the movers arrived with a VERY SMALL truck. The driver showed me a copy of a form with all the wrong information about my request. It showed I requested to move from a 2 bedroom single-story to a 2 bedroom two-story home. He then goes over the contract for 15 minutes and provided a "Do not exceed" price of $2000. I told him that the move will not come near that price and it was ridiculous to estimate the move so high. His response was, "You could call someone else if you like". Since I needed to move that day, finding someone else was not an option. Finally, after 30 minutes, the movers started moving thing out to the truck. They took their time to wrap the furniture, but my wife ask that they be more speedy. The movers picked up the pace only when we were watching them. When we finally got the first load on the SMALL truck, we drove to the new home. When we arrived, they ask that we pay them before they unload. My wife argued with the driver saying that they are not done yet and we have no place to hide if we were to stiff them. This went on for 10 minutes before they agree to unload. During the second load, we ran out of shrink wrap (the movers were being very wastefully), and they offer us $75 a roll of their shrink wrap. I agreed until I saw their rolls were used and does not have much left. I told them to use packing tape instead and they eventually use those up too. Finally, I just told them to use blankets to wrap the items to carry out to the truck, but they fail to do it after when we weren't watching them. Again, the movers got the truck to the new home and demanded that we pay them before they unload. I had to promise them that the money was "good" before they agreed and unloaded the truck. After the second load, I did not want to deal with them any longer so I told them I will pay them for 5 hours. The driver argued that they worked for 7 hours (starting from when the truck arrive at the driveway and included all the breaks they took). After 15 minutes (they looked mean and angry), I gave up and paid them the money. Now I still have a house that is half moved and I will do it all by myself.
