The ideal contractor excels at communication, while shielding the homeowner from the hassles of construction. Tal Kedmy of Sharp Builders serves as the one point-person dedicated to every project under his watch, whatever its size, from concept to completion. And, should the need arise, Tal can create clean, contemporary, yet out-of-the-ordinary designs. Tal has a dozen employees on payroll, from framers to painters. This gives Tal maximum control over the quality and timing of each project. Tal notes: “Our workers are hardworking and very responsible. They care about the property, respect the client, and know how to be safe.” Sharp Builders also excels at green building and design. They retrofitted the Eco Station, a wildlife shelter in Culver City, and converted its large warehouse into a new school—all with eco-friendly practices and materials. Tal’s ability to accurately bid a job was confirmed by his references. He explains, “I don’t want the client to have any surprises with the budget.” We visited a home on which Tal was putting the finishing touches. The homeowner and Tal bantered easily, but when we asked about Tal’s work, she became serious: “Tal truly wants his clients to be happy. We came up with a plan together, and he has been fully committed to making it happen.”

Since they finished 2 months ago its been fun having to find the following "buried" 1 recessed can light, 1 exterior porch light fixture, 1 j-box, and 1 outlet. These are mistakes made by the contractor and their crew not being supervised and having that attention to detail. It cost me $400 to have my electrican discover those buried items and then cut and grind them back out to be hooked up. Sharps work is fine and would be very good but only if you yourself or whoever you hire take the time to watch the work being done. If we discover more miscues in the completion of our peoject I will update accordingly.

This review is long overdue. Sharp Builders were the most professional, warm welcoming, affordable and flexible around my budget. I worked with Tal and the work started right on June 1st. The timeline was for 3 months but was finished a bit earlier in mid August! I contacted Sharp Builders to help me with a kitchen remodel. They did such a fabulous job with the cabinets, the countertops, backsplash, flooring, everything was expertly done and handled. They were very patient and they explained every single detail to me. Plus, special shoutout to Tal and his team who were very professional and always punctual. I have always been somewhat hesitant when it comes to general contractors, but Tal from Sharp Builders completely changed my mind. He helped me from start to finish, was available by text and phone, understood my every concern, and overall made me feel like I was in great hands! I am very pleased with the end result and I highly recommend Sharp Builders for any construction needs!
