Luis came to the quote appointment on time, and was very professional and polite. The price he quoted to provide weekly maintenance of my front and back yard was fair, especially since the first month his team had to deal with about 500 square feet of weeds and starter trees that had gone unmaintained for three months. I've also had some issues with my irrigation system, which Luis' team has been working to fix a little each week as new problems crop up. Luis has also given me a price and options to think about for fixing and upgrading my front sprinkler valves. We're coming to the end of the first month and so far, everything looks great and seems to be working out well. I'm really happy I was able to connect with such a nice and conscientious professional. Refreshing.

I had to have hardscaping done on both front and back of my house. Eventhough Luis had already given me a quote and we had come to an agreement, he patiently waiting until my work was done. The hardscaping was done a Tuesday. I called him about it and he rushed over on the same day to start and complete the work in less than four days. I was expecting company over Friday night and Luis completed the work promptly and neatly way before my guests arrived. The front and the back of my house look wonderful right now. My front yard is not the eye sore of the neighborhood anymore. I highly recommend Luis to anyone who needs this type of work done. In fact, he was so good that I hired him to do the weekly service at a very reasonable price.

Professional start to finish. The Quote was very competitive. Mr. Ruvalcaba arrived on time and clearly knew what he was doing and how the complete job should be done. While I had done quite a bit of research and received other bids, I was confident that he would do a good job after our first meeting. In addition, with the high rating of Luis Ruvalcaba Landscaping on Angie's List, it was a done deal. We had some delay on start date but that was cleared up without issue and work was done very quickly and completely. I was surprised at how quickly the job was completed and up and working. The crew was impressively considerate by maintaining a clean and clear work area each work day and sensitive in regard to family pets and security. Luis also corrected a minor drainage issue without additional fee. My neighbors were incredibly impressed with the job too and there was a number of requests for his business card upon completion. I don't doubt Luis will have many more jobs in my neighborhood due to the professional way he conducted himself, his crew and their meticulousness and the value of the job. I would definitely rehire him in the future and highly recommend Luis Ruvalcaba.

I found Luis on Angie's list. He answered the phone when I called and showed up on time for the quote I requested. He was extremely proffessional, well manored, well spoken, and knowlegable. The quote sounded fair given the extent of the work. We scheduled the work a few weeks later and again he showed up on time, this time with his workers and materials ready for the job. They worked quickly and diligently. Luis did the tree trimming himself with great care. His coworkers were respectful. They did an outstanding job and cleaned up well considering they had to use my neighbors yard to bring all of the yard waste through. I will absolutely hire him again and highly reccommend him. He takes great pride in his business.

We needed the yard front and back redone- about 4 trees removed, a big stump, and ALOT of cleanup and trimming. The yard had been neglected by the previous owners for some time, and it was time to get rehabbed properly. We spent some time getting quotes and felt most comfortable with Luis. Knowledgeable, honest, and no bull. Just told me like it was- and gave me options all around. He successfully repaired our entire sprinkler system, resodded entire lawn front and back (about 4k sq ft), cleaned up everything and got it all dialed in. Looks fantastic. Installed a sump/drain line down the backside of house. Also had them dig a trench for some electrical I was putting in. Him and his guys were here like clockwork - and he kept me informed all the way. Bottom line- we definitely got our money's worth. Very impressed and satisfied with Luis' service. Even have him now doing the monthly care on the property as well.

Called Luis on Sept. 16 to schedule a visit for him to provide me with an estimate to repair my lawn sprinkler system. We agreed he would come over on Spet. 22 at 2 p.m. On the 22nd, he called about an hour before our appointment time to let me know he was running about 30 minutes late due to work on a project he started that morning. I appreciated the call and he arrived at 2:30. After evaluating the provlem, he provided me with an estimate of $480 to replace six failing plastic valves with copper valves. I agreed and he was able to come over on Sept. 23 to do the work. He arrived on time and completed the work within an hour at the agreed upon price (which was the lowest of the estimates I received). The system works great. I would definitely use Luis Ruvalcaba Landscaping again.

Luis and his crew showed up at 8:00 am sharp as promised. They immediately began preparing themselves by positioning their trucks and strapping on harnesses needed to climb trees. They cut the trees from top to bottom and removed all dubree and covered holes with dirt and soils as needed. Work was done within about two hours top. Very well done !

The landscaping needs of this property had been neglected for a number of years. Weeds were growing in both front and back and the sprinklers were not functioning. In addition the large tree in the back yard had not been trimmed in many years. Luis gave me an excellent price and began work within the week. He removed dead bushed in the front yard including cutting down two dying cypress trees. He then installed automatic sprinklers front and back, put down a lawn, and trimmed the tree in the back. The place looked wonderful when all the contracted work was completed and I was able to release it right away.

He was referred to me by a neighbor who said he's not just a "mow and blow" kind of gardener. I was impressed by his knowledge of California native plants at our initial consultation. Unfortunately, he did not come to do the work and sent a crew. They just weed-wacked everything, killing 5-6 plants, including a few I put in last fall (so they were small, but marked with ribbon), and a few that had been growing (albeit slowly) for 2 years. They chopped down a Ray Hartman ceanothus that I've been lovingly tending to since I planted it in April 09. I called Luis to express my concerns and have another walk-through of the yard to point out where the small plants are to avoid (they didn't finish up on the first day). He agreed to meet me, but then he stood me up 3 times. So, I told him not to come back. It was an incredibly discouraging interaction. I'm still pretty heartbroken about the plants I now have to replace.

They did a very good job. The price was very reasonable, and they also cleaned up when they left.

The last time this company came out to my house was Friday July 22, 2011. After they left, I went outside to water some addtional plants and found out that they had cut off the end of my garden hose. I had to call the owner and by the end of the day they had put some sort of plastic stuff on the end of the hose. I asked them to pull weeds from a couple of plants, clean the grass and weeds around the sprinkler heads and to take away the dead plant clippings from the front yard which they did not do. I asked them to not go into one place of my yard and they ended up blowing up trash into that area.

Luis came over during the week to look at our project and give us an estimate. He was knowledgeable about what we needed, communicated clearly and gave us a fair price. He and his crew showed up exactly when they had promised. They did an excellent job, connecting the irrigation system in the front of our house and running the pipes underground. We have about 15 pots in different areas and each pot was about 2 ft high. They did an amazing job of arranging the irrigation hoses so that they are almost completely hidden. They installed everything, showed us how it all worked and cleaned up the entire area very efficintly. At the same time, part of the crew was planting two large plants in our front yard. Again, after they were finished they cleaned up and everything looked beautiful. We are delighted with his work and will use him again for other landscaping needs.

I looked out my window to find them working - as promised! We are so used to contractors not sowing up when promised. The results are beautiful. Luis suggested a number of plants and I picked out what I liked. He said fuschias would grow well and he didn't lie. Everyone who comes to the door is amazed at the planter.

Luis is a total professional hard working and creative in his approach he was prompt and fast...he and his guys nailed it!

Both times Luis has come out to my home to help with some relatively small jobs. The quality of the work is very good. In fact, he has actually found and fixed a number of problems left behind by my previous landscaper. His prices are by far the lowest of the guys I've had come out and quote me. The only issue I've had is that it's difficult to get him out to my house right away. That's understandable, though, given my jobs are so small that it doesn't make sense to send a whole crew out to my house (West LA) so I have to wait until he can bundle it with another job in the area. Besides that, his work has been great and, as I said earlier, you can't beat his price. I've never had a problem getting in touch with him and he's always called me if he can't make. Overall, I'd highly recommend him.

He never came to provide an estimate as promised and did not even bother to call and let me know he can't make it.

Luis was on time and the job was done in one day. Several times during the day I went out to ask questions and he took the time to speak with me and explain what he was doing. He also check the sprinkler system and made sure that any broken sprinkler heads were replaced. His bid compared to the other two was the lowest and the work he did was great. He also took the time to explain to me what his workers will be doing in the next few weeks to get the yard up and going.

Luis showed up on time for the quote and did his worker to do the sod replacement. The work was done in a day and the property was left clean after the work was done. Great job, reasonable price.

Our back yard used to have a lawn but when 2 dogs joined the family the grass could not survive the high canine traffic (lots of wrestling and chasing). Replacing with pebbles or wood chips was not an option because of all the trees on the property. Leaf blowers are used weekly to remove debris. Artificial turf was considered but it is pretty expensive and not maintenance-free contrary to what is advertised and with dog waste being an issue. We lived for several months with just the dirt in the back yard and that was a real mess, especially when it rained. After much deliberation we decided on flagstone. The job went great. Luis came when he said he would and completed the job in the time he said it would take. He had one worker with him and did a good bit of the work himself. As a business owner he doesn't just do estimates and billing. He was very involved in the project physically. He and his worker were very courteous and answered questions as they came up. I read the previous member's report and agree that his written proposal had little detail and any changes were verbal only. I just made notes to myself of everything we discussed. Maybe this made for a little more work on my part but I found Luis did everything he said he would and charged exactly as stated in his written and verbal proposals. His price beat all other bids I received. I found the somewhat sloppy proposal a very minor negative to what was an overall positive and outstanding job. Luis is very busy because he has an excellent reputation which we were most happy to witness!

Luis seems like a nice guy but he really didn't seem too eager to get my business. I told him what he wanted and asked me a few questions. But I am not sure he understood the scope of what I wanted done. I had other contractors come up with a much higher bid and a much more detailed proposal. His proposal was basically just an itemized cost of what things were and listing a few things. I think he was just listing the cost of the items and not the labor costs. I would recommend to this provider to provide a much more detailed proposal of what you plan to do. And for someone who is considering this provider, I would recommend that you ask a lot of questions of him and try to get him to detail as much as possible.

I had a particular vision of using the fence boards horizontally, which Luis and his carpenter not only did to my specifications, but also created a cute front gate. He was the most competive of all quotes and the job was completed in less than a week. Since then, a few boards have popped out due to swelling, but he was quick to repair. I'm excited this is a new year (cuz I have money to continue working on the yard), so would like him to install a lawn and sprinkler system.

outstanding. he gave me a very good price. luis was with the crew all the time working. he answered all of our questions. he explained what he was doing. i enjoyed the total project and subsequently hired him for gardening services.
