He and Matt were very efficient and neat. Luigi explained the work in detail and how to operate the tankless. He assured us that if we had any problems to please call him and he would make sure it was taken care of. The tankless water heaters are expensive, but the estimate we got from a plumber was $6,700 and he wanted to repipe our gas meter which was unnecessary but would have netted them another $2,000!!!

My water heater started leaking and my home warranty company was not able to respond in a reasonable time frame. I called around and found that Water Heaters Only could come the following morning (it was after pm) so I set up the appointment. The representative was prompt, courteous, informed me of my options and gave me knowledgeable advice on which water heater to have installed. He had both options available and from start to finish was approximately 2 hours. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in need of a water heater.

Came home from vacation 6 am in the morning and old water heater erupted; luckily just stayed confined outside of kitchen door in the garage. Called W.H.O. and they sent someone 2 hours later. The job took about 4 hours. The technician made some additional improvements vs. my existing setup by drilling pipes (in case leakage) through the garage drywall so that next time the if a leak were to happen it would flow toward the garage door and not sit next to the kitchen door. We were lucky this time around since we estimated the leak happened 3 hours before we got home (pure luck); so next time we might not be that lucky and won't have to worry about the flow of the water.

Wow! I can't say enough good things about Water Heaters Only. I went with the company because they had an "A" rating with the most reviews within 30 miles on Angie's List. I called before 9 AM. I was asked what time I'd like a technician to come out for an estimate, choosing a three hour window. Steve came on the early side. He gave me an estimate that made sense and seemed fair based on the work involved. He also takes a no pressure approach to the timing of replacement, but they are ready to replace on the spot. He replaced a 50 gallon water heater and replaced a visibly corroded pipe. He provided a number of enhancements from the old water heater. He added a pan in the pipe underneath the water. He has great attention to detail: cleaning up some messy woodwork that was behind the old water heater and replacing it with cleaner metal pieces. He put some foam around the metal belt that holds the water heater to avoid anyone cutting their hands if they grabbed a hold of it. The new pipes were also neatly covered in padding/insulation. He is very considerate: He left the area a lot cleaner than he found it, and it was no trouble for him to move things around. Steve was completely professional and a pleasure. You can tell he takes a lot of pride in his work and for good reason. Steve is a real top-notch guy. I highly recommend this company based on my experience with Steve. I wish all experiences with vendors were this great.

We were looking to replace our 14 year old gas water heater. Paul was very responsive and gave the most reasonable estimate of the 3 places that I talked to. He also answered all my questions including the reasoning behind selecting the brand of water heaters that he supports (Bradford-White). His contractor came in and installed the water heater and it is functioning flawlessly. I would highly recommend Paul's company.

Great sevice start to finish. Customer service/dispatcher Stan was extremely polite and responsive. The repair person Steve was also most considerate and clearly took pride in doing excellent work. Our new water heater is a thing of beauty. We are delighted with the wonderful service this company provided and highly recommend Steve and Stan.

Called them late morning to get my heater replaced. Chris arrived around 3 and the job was done in a few hours. Extremely clean work, no mess lying around and he also redid some of the work which he thought didn't look "just right". Excellent experience!

It didnt go at all as this company was more interested in switching me to buying a new hot water heater than they were in fixing mine.

Had Water Heaters Only replace a 16 y/o leaking 50 gallon unit in my basement with an upgraded 75 gallon unit. This required some changes to the flue. Overall, the plumber was professional, polite, and efficient, and I was pleased with the finished product. The price was $2700, which I know to be fair. Overall, I would highly recommend this company based on this experience.

The person who answered the phone in the company's Redwood City, CA office was friendly, knowledgable and helpful. He answered my questions and addressed my concerns. He also seemed honest and straightforward in the information he gave me, explaining, for example, why today's hot water heaters don't last as long as those made 20 years ago (corporate cost-cutting and planned obsolescence). The installer showed up at my house, complete with the new heater and all his equipment, about two hours later, on time, as promised. He was friendly, professional, patient, accommodating, answering my questions, explaining all the installation issues and steps to me, and cheerfully navigating the old and new hot water heaters through my cluttered garage. When I asked questions about the county inspection process, setting the temperature, how to re-light the pilot, the warrantee and other issues, he patiently explained everything until I was satisfied. He left an hour-and-a-half later with the installation complete, and that corner of my garage the cleanest it's been in years. The total cost above includes the water heater and associated parts, labor, tax, warrantee extension (all parts and materials guaranteed up to 10 years, labor covered for the first year), and county inspection fee. Based on my experience, I recommend Water Heaters Only to anyone who needs their water heater replaced.

We discovered that our water heater and stopped working on Saturday and called Water Heaters Only. They were very helpful on the phone and were extremely responsive and had someone at her house on Sunday early morning. The mechanic was very professional and thorough. He removed the old heater and replaced the water heater very quickly and efficiently. We would definitely use them again. As an aside, my 90 year old neighbor was raking some leaves and the mechanic offered to help her. A very nice and personable guy.

We have always used Water Heaters Only when we've needed to have the water heater replaced. We got up one morning and found water coming out from under the door where the water heater is housed. We opened the door and found that the drip pan was overflowing, so my husband removed some of the water from the pan and I called Water Heaters Only. They arrived about an hour later, looked at the situation and gave us an estimate. We said go ahead and about an hour and a half later we had a new water heater. They made sure everything was done to code. An inspector came out a week or so later and signed off on it. We are very happy with the new water heater.

Chris is an excellent serviceman --honest and a good diagnostician. He replaced the thermocouple. But the next day the water was not hot, so I turned up the thermostat. The next morning, I see water pouring down my driveway and hot water is pouring out of a pipe in the side of the house. Chris came back promptly and figured out that the problem was that the water pressure in our home was 110 instead of 65 to 80 pounds. So he put in a new water pressure regulator. Even though our water heater is 12 years old he did not pressure us to get a new one. Now everything is working very well and we have hot water.

Install was professional and prompt. Replacement unit is average quality in my opinion. Warranty on new tank is only 6 years, only 1 year on the other parts and labor which seems short considering the premium price. The old unit was installed by this same company 27 years ago. The drip pan under the old unit prevented the leak from reaching the hardwood floor.

Our 40 gallon gas water heater started leaking after ~15 good years of service. Based on Angie's List reviews, I decided to call Water Heaters Only and am very pleased. Talked to them yesterday afternoon and was told a technician could come out the next day (this morning) between 9-11am. They called at 8:30 to say the tech would be here at 9:30 and he was right on time. He looked at our heater, discussed some options and gave a quote that seemed reasonable. He had a new heater in his truck so he was able to do the installation while here. The whole thing took less than three hours.

After finding one morning my water heater was leaking, a quick check on Angie's List showed Water Heaters Only as the company with the most and best overall ratings. My phone call was answered on the second ring, and Kevin came out right at the set time. His estimate was in the range I had found current in the WHO and other company reports, so I asked him to go ahead. While he was working, he also took the time to time to tell me about what he was doing, why water heaters go bad, and what kinds of things I need to do to make sure that this new one lasts. In the end he went though the procedures for emergency shutdown and yearly maintenance. All the while he was working, it was easy to see that he was doing an exceptionally professional job and bringing everything up to code. When finished, he cleaned up thoroughly, and left on another call. All in all, my experience with WHO was extremely positive, and I believe they certainly deserve the excellent Angie's List ratings they have consistently gotten.

It wasn’t the cheapest but I think it was a fair price. I talked to a few of companies on the phone and this one sounded reasonable and received really good feedback on Angie’s List. When the technician came he was very professional so I decided to proceed. It seemed like they knew what they were doing and they were very informative. They cleaned up afterwards and took away my old water heater which was nice. I think I got high quality service from them.

I called the San Mateo number and received an estimate immediately. Within one hour, the repair representative, Steve, arrived. After looking at the job and discussing some options, he removed the old water heater, moved some piping and added some new valves, and installed the new water heater. The whole job took about two hours and cost slightly less than the original estimate. The Bradford-White unit is sleek and seems well designed. Steve was very efficient and friendly, and did a quality job. He also was very helpful with my questions. He left the area clean and neat. The inspection by San Mateo County went without any problems. There may be less expensive companies, but the promptness, courtesy and quality provided by Water heaters Only would be hard to beat. An added note: California now requires residences to have a carbon monoxide detector if they have combustion appliances (such as a gas water heater). If the cost of replacing the water heater is $1000 or more, the inspector will ask to see the CO detector before he signs off the permit. The permit will indicate what is needed.

Contacted Water Heaters Only to inquire about replacing our ancient water heater, which had sprung a leak and was pretty rusted on top. Got a quote for around $1000 for a basic 40 gallon gas unit, decided to go ahead with the work, and was given a 3-hour window for the contractor to arrive. Kevin, the contractor who actually performed the work, gave me a courtesy call right at the start of the 3-hour window, and arrived shortly thereafter. After inspecting the old unit, he determined that much more work needed to be done than just swapping tanks - the old transite (asbestos) exhaust needed to be removed and replaced, proper bracing needed to be installed (old water heater was resting on some of the pipes), and the water heater stand needed to be replaced. I also opted to get the higher-efficiency water heater, so the final quote came out to $1577 (including permit), a bit more expensive than other quotes I had received, but given the additional work that needed to be done, I determined it was acceptable. After signing off on the work order, Kevin got to work, contacting the main office to order additional parts and the higher-efficiency unit, draining and dismantling the old water heater, building the new water heater stand, and repairing/installing the support bracing on the garage wall. After Kevin's colleague (Michael? Sorry, bad with names) arrived with the additional parts and high-efficiency unit, Kevin removed and rebuilt the exhaust piping, set up the new water heater on the stand (well, drain pan on the stand), installed copper piping to drain the drain pan and the water heater pressure/temperature valve to the outside (vs. the garage floor like our old water heater), installed earthquake straps, hooked up the gas and water lines, started everything up and made sure it was up and running. About 6 hours total work. Throughout the process, Kevin was courteous and responsive, and explained what he was doing and why whenever I asked. He seemed genuinely interested in doing the best job that he can, and IMHO it shows in the final product. I'm impressed with the "cleanliness" of the bracing he installed, the copper pipe runs he had to install, and the new stand he built. Before he left, Kevin showed me how to operate the water heater (dead simple really, but still nice to have him walk me through all the controls), and gave me tips on proper water heater maintenance. If I have any gripe about the whole job, it's that it cost a good chunk more than the original estimate. However, given the additional work that needed to be done (especially in removing the old transite exhaust), the higher-efficiency water heater that I decided to get at the last minute, and the quality of the work performed, I feel it was more or less justified.

I called in about a leaking hot water heater in the late afternoon and a representative - Alex - was at my condo within a couple hours. We assessed the situation and decided that a new water heater was needed and I chose a somewhat smaller 40 gallon size. From then on it was all Alex. He did a super job quickly removing the old heater and installing the new one. He also replaced some aging connecters and pipes at no charge. He was finished in less than two hours with no trash or debris left behind. Alex was totally professional, explained what he had done plus some instructions for the new heater. We scheduled a Sunday appt, which had no extra charge. While making the appointment, they didn't ask any questions about our current set up and gave a narrow range of what the cost would be. They advised the brand of the water heater and that it was the best rated water heater on the market. They gave me time to research the brand while still on the phone. I was impressed! Given another company had asked lots of questions and then surprised us with a 30% increase on install day, I wasn't sure about not having any questions asked and still getting a quote, but I thought, let's see.... One person came out, on time, looked the current water heater over that's in our garage and gave a quote on the spot - surprisingly nearer the lower end of their estimate given on the phone! They ended up costing hundreds less then the other company we had considered using. The install took about an hour, and the installer even swept out our garage afterwards. The city came out and inspected and signed off. All in all, I love this company! They were professional, no nonsense and customer service oriented.

We came home after work to find our 12-year-old water heater leaking from the bottom of the tank. We called Water Heaters Only at 6 PM and they said they could be there tomorrow at 9 AM but they may be able to get there tonight. A guy showed up that night at 7:30 PM and worked until about 9 installing a new water heater. He also added an additional bracing support to make it more secure. The price was $999 and didn't change from the estimate on the phone to the final price, even including the extra brace. The installer was very friendly and helpful and we are thankful they were able to fit us in on a weeknight so late. It comes with a 6-year warranty. We will definitely call them up again should we need anything more in this area, such as a larger tank.
