Plane and Stain Inc. seemed to be a good company. They showed up on time and gave us the estimate but it just didn't seem like the right time to us to make the purchase.

It went GREAT! I read a POSITIVE review on Angie's list and gave them a call. I believe Justin came the same day to look at the property in order to give me an estimate. It took them only 1 or 2 days to email me a very detailed and thorough estimate of work (which was competitive with other bids). They worked patiently with me while I rethought the fence design and had them re-quote it in a few different ways (wood types and design). They were always completely easygoing and very responsive and prompt. Once I gave them the go ahead, they showed up for work and completed the project in just 2 1/2 days - even with sprinkling rain. While working they asked my opinion many times just to make sure I would agree with where something would line up or how they would make a height match. They were so conscience of my opinion and wanted to make sure that the work they were doing was exactly what I wanted. Their main fence builder is very talented and speedy. I was quite pleased with the quality of cedar they brought for the front fences, and Justin even went back to the East Bay to exchange some of the boards which he thought were not of the best quality. Perfectionists do exist! I realized that the cedar boards would look best if they were stained to match our front door (instead of to weather to a grey color) and Justin was completely willing to figure out how they could stain all these boards before installing them and all with a pleasant smile on face. I paid them time and materials for this part. The one thing I didn't do beforehand was look at the hardware. I would have chosen something silver, but they brought black. So be it. I am still thrilled with the work and amazed that there are contractors out there who like their job, and who strive to please their customers. Plane and Stain is a great business. I recommend them with the highest remarks ***** 5 stars.

They were willing to match a competitor's price. That really stood out to us. We were satisfied with the quote and are currently using them.

I wanted to use them but it was a shared fence and I was convinced by my to use someone else and that's the only reason I didn't select them. I really thought they were very professional. They provided a very professional and detailed estimate, it was easy to communicate via email and phone.

We couldn’t have been happier with the job that Ian and Jason did on our new cedar split rail fence. They fully exemplified the benefits of working with a small, owner managed business. The care and pride in the work demonstrated by them and their crew was impressive and not something that I have found with bigger companies. The result was an absolutely beautiful fence that was built to last. It’s been up for only a few days and people I know from the neighborhood have been stopping me on the street to compliment the fence. This is quite striking as we live in a somewhat fence hostile area. I got 3 bids. Plane and Stain came in significantly above the low bid and they worked with me to reduce the gap. While they were still not the least expensive option I am absolutely certain that they provided the best value and they were an absolute joy to work with.

They gave me a really good price. They were trying to grow a green business on how they approached things. They were very responsive and I was pretty happy with them. Their quality was very good and their price was good.

This company is run by two brothers, Ian and Justin. They were very involved in the project from start to finish. They listened to the particular specifications I wanted on the project and had good suggestions. The work was performed quick and efficiently with either Ian or Justin on site daily to assure the project went smoothly. These guys place a high priority on customer satisfaction.
