Johnson's Tree Care Inc

I run a solar installation company in Santa Clara and needed a tree trimmer that could manicure some trees near a planned solar installation. I called three tree trimming companies that had good reviews on Angie's List. Johnson's Tree Service responded to my inquiry immediately and had a consultant meet me at the project location within hours of my call, the second company I called never returned my phone call and the third company didn't get back to me with an estimate until after I had already had the trimming completed by Johnson's. John DiGandara, was the representative that worked with me. Throughout the process he was courteous and responsive. As a prime contractor it's very important to me that I can trust the subs working with me to be friendly and professional with my clients, which John was. The trimming was completed satisfactorily and reasonably priced. I will definitely use Johnson's again in the future and would recommend them to others.

I was immediately impressed not only by the company's punctuality but also because when they came to give the estimate, they first gave me a copy of the company's certificate of liability insurance. The estimator/arborist was very knowledgeable and offered me a lot of practical advice. The trees looked pruned and trimmed rather than hacked. Apparently my neighbors liked the job they did and the price as well, because Johnson's picked up at least five other jobs from my immediate neighbors.

They did a great job trimming two trees that were well overdue for trimming. The canopies look even and natural now despite being thinned significantly. They let me know promptly when they needed to reschedule the estimate (because another job ran long), they showed up on time for my job, they answered all my questions, and they thoroughly tidied up afterward.

Our new house has a very large wisteria growing on the eaves. It was in desperate need of trimming but we weren't sure how to do it without hurting the vine. Johnson's was very honest, telling us a gardner could do the job for less money. However, we really appreciated their honesty and professionalism. They did a great job and took the time to educate us about the wisteria and how to care for it. Now, the wisteria looks great. We are very satisfied.

Most of the work that was done was good, but they lacked a bit of knowledge in trimming a tree. It was a japanese mable tree. We have a tree that needed to be trimmed a specific way. We found that out because a few years later, when the tree grew back, another tree service company informed us that it should've been trimmed a certain way. But other than that, the overall experience with this company was okay.

They were punctual. They did a good job and did it fast.

They were pretty friendly and helpful. The work went fine.

Very happy with their service. The team was very professional and did a great job grinding the stumps in a difficult location.

I would hire Johnson's Tree Service again in a heartbeat. They did everything they said the would and I did not have to remind them of anything ever, they were great to work with!

The estimate was on target and punctual- Henry had great ideas and insured the tree looked great. I liked that the person who gave the estimate ( Henry) was onsite all day-in the past with other companies, the person who gives the estimate is not onsite when the job takes place- often requiring phone calls etc. to verify what was supposed to be done on the job

Henry Vargas represented the company very professionally and personably. They had to reschedule due to an emergency and they were quite apologetic. A five man crew arrived promptly on the rescheduled day, and led by Beto, the on the job supervisor, they trimmed 6 trees and removed one. Beto was very knowledgeable and gave me good advice which I took in regard to how to appropriately trim my bay tree. They shaped it beautifully, trimmed a large horsechestnut to my requirements, cleaned up a pittosporum which had been damaged by previous tree trimmers, trimmed two loquats and did a magnificent job of cleaning up and trimming a large deodar cedar in my front yard. They were very conscientious about not damaging the azaleas beneath the deodar, and they cleaned up all the debris beautifully. I will definitely use Johnson's again.

We found Johnson's on Angie's list and called. The estimator, Henry, came out to survey the scene and gave us a detailed explanation of what the job would entail and estimated it might go into a second day. It took only one. The crew did a great job of cleaning up and the man who climbed the trees was like an acrobat. It was fun to watch.

they responded very promptly to my request for an estimate; gave me a lot of information; came to do the work a few days later and were hardworking, well-supervised, and clean. The price wqas reasonable, and the job was done exactly as promised. It was a pleasure to find such a hardworking and professional team.

After a minor truck breakdown and subsequent change in job date, they arrived on time, completed the work professionally, and cleaned the site thoroughly.

We were pretty satisfied with them.

The stump was ground down 14", which is the depth to which their stump grinder worked. Previously to the grinding I had started digging out around the trunk to severe the roots extending outwards, but was told that wasn't necessary. By late April there were suckers from the roots sprouting in a radius of 15' from the site of the now buried remainder of the stump, including several in my neighbors yard and from the stump itself. I ended up digging about 3 - 4 feet down to uncover all the viable roots and cut them out. Kevin did come back, but felt that I had torn up so much of the surrounding area to the trunk that there was nothing to be done at the time. as his machine needed a solid surface on which to work.He will return to further grind down the trunk, now that I've removed the major roots and replaced the soil. Lesson learned, don't just have the trunk ground down, but the roots worked on as well. (Because I'd planted fruit trees at the site of the former tree, I did not want to use the available commercial poisons which would affect the soil and the trees.)

They are very good. I am very impressed with them and this is the second time I've used them. They were great and I would absolutely use them again. It is hard to get tree people that know what they are doing and they are very good.

They did an excellent job of removing the tree, grinding down the stump, and removing all debris. They were able to schedule a crew on a Saturday (after being called on a Thursday) and showed up on time. When their chipper truck became full (mostly from a previous job that morning), they went to the local dump and then quickly returned the same day to finish the job.

They were able to schedule the work fairly quickly, though I was not in a hurry for the job to be completed. They had a crew of several people and completed the job in a single day. They did a good job of cleaning up afterwards and even removed a few bits and pieces that had fallen onto the roof of my house during trimming. They left me with a few pieces that I requested to use as firewood, cut to length.

Excellent-- I called on Monday to arrange an estimate. John indicated he would be at my house at 10 am on Tuesday. He was right on time. I walked him through the trees I desired to have trimmed and he gave me a written estimate and a copy of their insurance on the spot. He also indicated he could do the job this week... I asked when and he said as early as Wednesday (the next day). The price was compelling as was his enthusiasm, so I agreed. John showed up at 8:30 AM as promised and reviewed exactly what I wanted done (to make sure). The crew was here by 9 am and finished about 5 pm. Everything was done in a conservative fashion with several checks and re-checks to make sure I was happy. The crew was careful around my other plants and they removed all the debris as promised. My trees are now well trimmed and my yard looks as though no one was ever here. Excellent work by Johnson's Tree Service. I highly recommend them.

They did a very beautiful job with the sycamore! It was a work of art. They were very careful in removing large branches that could have caused a lot of damage to our house and power lines. Clean up was very good, but they left a few too many wood chips to compost.

I would absolutely use this company again. Frank came out to my house the next day to provide an estimate, and we scheduled the work within the next few days. Frank and his team were punctual, efficient, and neat. In adddition, Frank answered questions regarding some other trees on my property, so I expanded the job.

Since Frank spoke English, it was not a problem that much of the crew spoke only Spanish. Frank was available the entire time. The 4 person crew was hard working and efficient. They worked on high trees and around power lines with ease. Their clean-up was incredible, again going beyond all of my expectations (they helped me clean out a shed and dispose of the extra particle board that I had lying around). They saved small birds that were in the tree branches and repositioned their nests trying to disturb them as little as possible.

The gentleman who came out to give me the estimate was very prompt and professional. He gave me a reasonable estimate. The crew came out when they were supposed to and they made sure to clean up after themselves. I have been satisfied with their service.

All work was done promptly and to our satisfaction. Clean-up was so good that we couldn't tell by looking at the ground that anybody had been there.
