Design Concepts

Description of Work: It was fabulous working with Design Concepts. They understood from the very beginning what we wanted to accomplish. As a result, we were able to proceed at a relatively quick pace, and the results were stunning. The kitchen is the central part of our house. As avid food and wine people we spend an inordinate amount of time in our kitchen. We liked the general lay out of our existing kitchen, but we wanted to update it to improve the visual impact, and make it more functional, from a culinary perspective. With Design Concepts assistance, we added double convection ovens, a deeper sink, and a larger cook top. We also wanted to add more seated counter space, since this is the area that people inevitably migrate to when we entertain. Design Concept s provided a new design that enabled us to modernize the kitchen, while maintaining the warmth of the space, which provides an inviting place where you want to spend hours cooking up your favorite recipes.

Description of Work: Design Concepts provided the overall room design, color selection, furniture selection, window covering selection, and wallpaper selection for converting an existing bedroom into a den/study area in our home. Design Concepts also helped us remodel an existing bathroom and bedroom, and Design Concepts is currently helping update our Living Room, Dining Room and Breakfast Room. Yesterday afternoon the new furniture was moved to its ultimate destination. The new wall-to-wall carpeting was installed, which looks great and is very thick and luxurious. Also, I finally removed the butterfly linens (I waited until all the dusty work was completed), and put on the new skirt and coverlet. I used my flannel sheets since winter is approaching. So last night was the first use of our new den/study and the first night we used our new bedroom without it being filled with temporarily stored furniture. Everything was great! For the first time I have all of my clothes in my bedroom. The new closet there is perfect. The coverlet is rich and elegant. I was perfectly comfortable with just a sheet and the coverlet for warmth. And just across the hall is our new deluxe bathroom!

Description of Work: My first priority was to update the kitchen in my townhouse. I didn t know what I could do to fix it. During our initial meeting, Sylvia helped me select a palette of colors that worked not only in the kitchen, but a range of colors that compliment each room in my house. At the end of our meeting, Sylvia had given me a vision and a plan for my entire home. Sylvia also designed a new lighting system for my kitchen that has improved the overall look of the room, and includes new recessed lighting throughout my kitchen and new rope lighting that highlights the coved area in my kitchen ceiling. After the kitchen was finished, Sylvia helped me to remodel my guest bathroom. Sylvia fauxed the bathroom walls in a pale, sea-foam gray tone, that gave the guest bathroom an exciting new look. Sylvia completed the make over of my townhouse by updating my living room and master bedroom suite. Sylvia worked within my budget and accomplished miracles.

Description of Work: Consultation on paint colors for living room, dining room, bedrooms and kitchen. Help arranging furniture in living room. Shopping for accessories for living room, entry way and bedroom. Referrals for other contractors such as painters, wood floor re-finishers, and handyman. Faux painted my fireplace hearth and stone fireplace.

Description of Work: We engaged Sylvia Elliman of Design Concepts to help us remodel our home in Palo Alto. We started by having Sylvia decorate our dining room. She created a room with faux walls, added a coved ceiling with a dramatic new lighting system and widened the entrance to the room, which provided a whole new setting. At this point, we knew we could trust Sylvia to proceed with designing the rest of our home. Sylvia's design experience proved invaluable. She enabled us to see the potential of each room in our home. Her sense of color and style is truly unique. With her help, our home evolved into a series of harmonious rooms. Sylvia earned our trust with each stage of the project, and we came to rely upon her skills to coordinate and manage all the details that are critical to a successful project.

Description of Work: Provided layout and design for my kitchen remodel project. Created room for island, and in-kitchen seating. Also, included remodel of master bath and 2nd bathroom. Tile selection and design makes the house look new again!
