Hi (Member name removed), Thank you for your feedback, and the positive grade you gave our company. I wanted to respond to your concerns about us offering you additional service, and the disclosure of allowable room sizes, and the price for over sized rooms in this deal. 1. You wrote that the ad did not mention anything about room size, and I wanted to point out that we mention this in the very first line of the ad - "CitruSolution Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning, an A-rated service provider on Angie's List, is offering premium carpet cleaning for one room (up to 200 square feet) for $25. This service is normally priced at $50, saving Angie's List members 50%." We also disclose this in "The Fine Print" section of the ad, and it's also posted on our website's pricing page. I'm sorry if you missed this, but we do make every effort to be completely up front, honest, and transparent with our pricing and terms. I'm almost certain that we are the only carpet cleaner in this area that posts their prices on line, without having to enter any information, etc. 2. I am terribly sorry that you felt that by our offering you additional service when you scheduled your appointment that we were bordering on "scamming" you. I can assure you that this is absolutely not the case. This industry has a terrible reputation for "up-selling" and dramatically increasing the price the day of the appointment, and we make every effort we can not to be associated with that type of practice by: a. Posting our prices, terms and conditions clearly on our website. b.) Only offering ALL INCLUSIVE service, meaning we do not UP CHARGE for pre-spotting, high traffic areas, stain removal, odor removal, protection, etc. etc. That is the practice that has earned this industry a horrible reputation, and I truly be we are very successful because we avoid it and treat our customers honestly, fairly, and transparently. I have to explain / defend our prices in most initial client calls because it seems at first look that we are much higher than our competitors, when actually, we are usually LESS expensive. The difference is that the lower priced quotes usually don't include the services you'd need or want, and they are hoping to lure you in with the artificially low price, then increase it the day of service based on the condition of your carpet and you needing "pre- spotting, high traffic area cleaning, deep cleaning, stain remover, deodorizer, scotch guard, disinfection, etc. etc. etc.). I think it's also wise to consider that there are major differences in cleaning methods and solutions, and the lowest price usually corresponds to the lowest grade of value / service, as with most other products and services. We do not want to position ourselves as the cheapest service, but rather the best overall value for our clients. 3. We absolutely do hope that our customers will hire us for additional services beyond what was purchased in this deal, and I think that's a fair expectation of any business. I also think its customary and fair business practice to offer additional services. You may not have known we do upholstery cleaning or area rugs if I had not asked. Just about every business I know does this, from McDonald's offering you an apple pie with your order, your server at a restaurant offering you a dessert or coffee after your meal, Apple offering "Apple Care" with your Iphone, etc. As long as the offer is done without pressure, and done genuinely to offer the customer added value, or a better experience, I personally see it as excellent business practice. I sincerely apologize if you felt any pressure or sensed disappointment in my voice when I offered you more service and you declined. That was not my intent at all. You are absolutely correct in that we lost money on performing this service, and the $10 additional we charged for your 20 extra square feet room was the ONLY revenue we generated on your service. That's the risk a business takes in advertising such an offer, and I accept that. We tried to avoid this by putting a "3 Room Minimum Service Requirement" in the deal, but Angies List would not allow that ,and I understand and accept why. The reality of this business is that we break even at about $100 / appointment due to the time and expense in travel, equipment set up, break down, and maintenance of the equipment between jobs. It's probably closer to $150-$200 for steam cleaners. This is why we have minimum service requirements - we want to stay in business, and be profitable. I hope that my response has helped ease your sentiments, and improved your perception of our company and business practices. Please know that I"m always available to discuss any concerns of any of our clients "off line" or on the phone - the business phone # (650-919-3996) is my cell #, and I'm available whenever our clients need me. I wanted to respond to your feedback online in this forum so that Angie's List members could hear our side of the story, and know that we absolutely disclose max room sizes, prices associated with overage, and all of our terms and conditions in every deal we offer, and on our website. Our reason for being and model for sustainability is to provide an exceptional service and customer experience at a fair price, and earn the privilege of being your preferred carpet and upholstery cleaner for life. Most Sincerely, Craig Radley, President CitruSolution Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning - Silicon Valley www.CitrusCleansCarpetBetter.com 650 919 3996
