Lou and his crew did an amazing job remodeling our house, including a 2nd story add-on. From start to finish working with Lou was a pleasure. He has high standards for his craft and is fair and honest. He and his team were very professional and considerate. It was quite the job to completely remodel our house, from new foundation to support the new 2nd floor rooms to replacing every window, designing and building 3 beautiful bathrooms, building a great new fireplace and creating a new beautiful staircase, all new hardware floors, it was a massive undertaking but Lou and his team did a great job. We were really happy with the results and will definitely hire Stone Age for future work!

We used Stone Age Design to remodel the kitchen in our 1980's error condo. They did the entire demolition, tile work, electrical, plumbing, dry wall, lights, appliance installation and finishing and they were fantastic. The quality of the build is really top notch, and the level of detail was exacting. I can't imagine doing another renovation without Lou and his crew. I should also mention how professional they were. The crew was polite, helpful, kind, and understanding of any concerns or requests; we really loved them. Lou does things by the book, and won't cut corners, so don't be surprised if the occasional extra item shows up, particularly if you have an older home. But if you're looking for high quality and gorgeous work, look no further than Stone Age Design. We give them our highest recommendation.

Once the project began, I found the crew to be real craftsmen, each performing skillful framing, electrical, plumbing, tiling, and cabinetry work. Every step of the way, the owner kept me informed of their progress, explained my options when questions arose, and made recommendations that best suited the situation. The finished product came out looking exactly the way I envisioned, and the only cost deviations (to the original quote) were the result of change orders I requested. Stone Age Design has been my go to contractor for years. I updated my kitchen countertops that were previously done by another company. Stone Age found some issues that could have been dangerous. They showed me exactly what it was, gave suggestions and options on how to fix it and made it safe and beautiful. I'm very happy with their work and communication throughout the process. I've recommended them to several of my friends because of their work and honesty. I will continue to have them as my go to contractor because of the ongoing success of my projects.

Lou and his team provided an excellent level of craftsmanship and were very professional onsite. The two team leads I worked with (Miguel and Daniel) were both knowledgeable and easy to work with. Any minor follow up items were quickly addressed and any changes to scope were dealt with fairly. I would hire again for future work!

Lou's attention to detail is amazing. I've had contractors in the past that I had to fire due to the poor quality and thank goodness I found Lou. He is the only contractor that I have full faith in to get the job done correctly, professionally, and on time. He has done a number of projects from my full home remodel to my newly purchased condo remodel from top to bottom. Kitchen, bath, painting, electrical, plumbing etc. His crew is very clean when working and clean up really well when they leave. I would highly recommend him for any job. He is the only contractor I will use.

We recently completed a kitchen remodel with Stone Age. Lou has a fabulous eye for detail, with vast knowledge of construction and design. I really appreciated his input in making all the many decisions that go into a kitchen remodel. His crew was polite, respectful, timely, clean, and knowledgeable. Lou uses his own crew, no subcontractors and that makes a difference. Of all the remodeling I've done as a homeowner over the last 40 years, this was by far the easiest. When you work with a professional it shows! I would not hesitate to recommend Stone Age.

This is it least my fourth project with Stone Age. Lou and his crew are always a pleasure to work with. He will always do things the right way and there is a lot of attention to detail and the quality of his work is excellent. This project was completed two weeks ahead of schedule.

Fantastic! This was our second experience for a remodel with Lou Phillipe and his crew at Stone Age Design and Build and it was smooth and a very satisfying experience. They are highly professional, responsive and do very high quality work. The end product was everything we wanted. The team of Daniel, Carlos, Jose and many others are amazing with very careful attention to detail. They have become like family for us. We can't imagine hiring any other group for a remodel. They are not cheap but the high quality of their work is excellent and they stand by their work. They will come back if anything needs tweaking or adjustment.

We were in a tough position having started a remodel with a contractor that we had to terminate. We had been looking for several months for another contractor. We sought out Lou based on Angie’s list reviews versus a General Contractor. Lou’s operation is as a construction company and relies mostly on his own crew. His crew is great to work with. As other reviews have attested they are prompt, clean, respectful and do a full days work. They clean up at the end of the day and set a high bar that other contractors don’t meet. Lou was coming in on a project that had already started having had drywall up. As part of starting conditions we had to pay for the exploration and redoing several areas. I questioned the necessity of some of the rework, but that was the condition to have Lou take on our project. The electrical from the previous contractor had to be redone, but even with that we did not pass the final electrical inspections and we had more costs at the end. Windows and doors schedules were all very long, (I think it is an industry issue). Lou had promised a quick turn around on 2 windows if we ordered a standard window, but the delivery ended up taking as long as if we had ordered custom. Lou’s communication style is mostly emails. The routine is to speak with the foreman and he presents issues to Lou. We found this inefficient. I had an intense professional schedule during the time frame of our remodel with Lou and his insistence on email impacted many work hours for me. On numerous occasions, a short phone call with an email confirmation could have eliminated back and forth emails. While Lou does this to have a record of communication, he still missed confirmation, and specification that I had spent the time to craft in email. Several caused financial and schedule impacts to our project. Some of our initial designs glossed over how corners or materials would complete. Lou and his crew were great in figuring out these transitions. Lou stands behind his work, which is a plus. He will rework an area that is not correct. However in a few instances if our initial direction had been followed, reworking would have been unnecessary. As other reviews have stated he comes back to fix minor issues that occur after the project has completed. ( Circuit breaker warranty, and cracked tiles, etc). We had several warranty issues with Kohler during the project and Lou did not charge us for the labor to replace the warranty product. We ended up supplying most of the finish material ourselves. He provided the construction materials. While Lou puts an exclusion in his contracts about the match of a transition from existing to new construction you would be hard pressed to pick them out in our completed project. Matching the texture in both stucco and drywall is almost seamless. We had a cutting edge master bath design. Lou’s foreman for our project was detailed and instrumental in the tile layout, and we’re very pleased with the finished product. Lou went to bat for us on several issues we had with the inspector because of the master bath we had designed and ultimately prevailed. Lou supplied several custom cabinets (Master bath and laundry room). We found them to be adequate, and the cabinet maker stands behind them, but in the master bath the cabinets had to be removed and trimmed down 2 inches. They also ended up not being level, therefore the countertop is subsequently not level. In contrast, for our kitchen we had already sourced semi custom cabinets and as far as overall quality, we prefer the cabinets we had sourced for the kitchen. Lou saved our project for which we are very grateful and we wholeheartedly recommend Stone Age. It does come with a price but you’ll be happy with the crew and the results

Lou and his team did a major remodel for us. In addition to the kitchen, bathrooms, floors, closets, and fireplace, they also repaired and replaced the plumbing, electrical, heaters. They also turned outdated sliding glass doors into lovely French doors and built a beautiful laundry room out of what was essentially a basement cavern. We were abroad while the work was being done but there were no problems with communication. The Stone Age team is friendly, professional, and does quality work.

Such a wonderful experience. The craftsmanship, attention to detail and service level is like no other I have ever experienced. Our house is now like a piece of very beautiful, functional and livable art. Stone Age is the best around!

It went very well and we are very pleased with the final outcome. It is beautiful. Lou and his StoneAge team are highly professional and were responsive to all our requests. They did all of the demolition, tileing, electrical and plastering. He also did all the subcontracting for the cabinets, floors, and painting. The folks he works with are all very professional and attentive to detail. It was great to have one person responsible for the entire project. We did run in to unexpected plumbing and sewer issues which stretched out the timeline. But Lou and crew dealt with it in a professional and timely manner and brought in a great plumbing crew. It turned into a bigger project than we originally planned. But we are very pleased with the final outcome and our guests are very complimentary about the excellent work on our home.

All remodeling work from demolition to final inspection was excellent. Workers were on time worked diligently, respectful to the owners and cleaned up the area everyday. Work was very accurate and all custom work turned out better than our expectations.
