I was impressed with Gary's suggestions regarding accent colors, placement, and how they should continue around corners for a very complete, finished and professional look. I was also impressed with his honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, thoroughness and professionalism. It was nice to see how he and his crew cleaned up all areas at the end of each day.
Description of Work: Painted the interior of a 1650 square foot two story condo that had not been painted in 30 years. Gary removed the popcorn ceiling, consulted on contrasting colors to accent some walls (I wanted all blue at first), refurbished and repainted the kitchen and bathroom cabinets.

Gary was the low bidder with an Angie's list 15% discount. However, this was not the reason I selected him. Of all of the bidders, he was the only one that said that with power washing, he could restore the varnish finish that had been allowed to deteriorate. I had bids from four recommended by Angie's list, and all had bids that were in the same ball park. I never respond to telemarketers, but this time I allowed one because it was just what I was doing at the time. This clown's bid was almost three times the Angie's list bids. Never again. i learned my lesson., Only Angie's list from now on. Finally, I strongly recommend GK painting. The job that they did for me was outstanding.

Gary was initially the low bid of 3. However he had bid a lower grade of paint than the other bidders. So I asked Gary by email, to tell me the additional cost of using the better paint. Got a call from Gary a day later to tell me that he had talked to his supplier and that he would be able to do the job for the same cost, and sent me a revised quotation to that effect. I accepted the revised proposal, sent Gary his requested 10% deposit, and asked if he could schedule the job to start in about 5 weeks, to which he agreed. About a week and a half before Gary is scheduled to start, and after we have gotten him the chosen colors Gary asks to meet and discuss the job. It seems that he's unable to get the better paint for the same price after all. There is also a protracted discussion about the need for a primer coat on the white eves (which we were re-painting white) to prevent brown bleed through due to tannins in the wood. (I had not had even noticed the issue until Gary pointed it out). I finally agreed to the extra cost for the paint and for priming the 1'st story eves where such spots might be visible. This raised Gary's bid from the least expensive to the most expensive. But with the good Angie's list reviews and the asssurance that since he was a single crew contractor and he would be personally on the job every day I went ahead. Then on the scheduled Saturday Gary arrives to pressure wash. All is going well until the crew starts to wash the brand new trellis structures, and the brand-new paint that the contractor had put on the comes washing off in sheets. This wasn't Gary's fault, but now what was going to be just a "add one more coat so the color matches" becomes a full prep, prime and paint task on these new structures. This adds another $3,000 to the cost of the job. (In the end I figure that $3,000 bought about 44 man hours plus the cost of material which seems a bit high). In the end the job was well done. Gary's crew did pay attention to the details, were good about cleaning up every day, and most important got the job finished in estimated time depite the additional work on the trellis structures (which was knocked out one Saturday). One other surprise during the course of the job: Turns out Gary also has another part-time job. So out of the 12 days that the crew was here working, Gary was here 8.

I called Gary and he came out and gave me a great estimate on fixing our wall. Gary and his crew were very professional and you could tell the reason he does what he does is because he really enjoys the beauty in the outcome. Although they had to work nights due to our hours, they took time in prepping and working and also cleaning up every day they came out, so that my morning crew would not be affected by the work. Needless to say the job came out great!

We hired GK Painting to paint the exterior of our home. We had previously hired him to paint the interior and he did such a beautiful job, we knew we would not be disappointed. Once again Gary did a wonderful job. He was very thorough, making absolutely sure that all loose paint was taken care of, patches were applied where needed and damaged fascia boards were replaced. Again, his attention to detail and meticulous work really shows. We are beyond happy with our final product and highly recommend GK Painting.

Again they did a great job. We had used GK Painting in the past for exterior work. And they came through for us on the inside. Gary the owner has a great knack for picking colors. We were going to paint everything off white and he talked us into going with two tone and helped pick colors that went together. It really came out nice. I also thought it was nice that they offered to pressure wash the outside of the house that they had painted the year before. The pressure washing really keeps the paint looking new and gets rid of the dirt and cobwebs. I think I will have them do it every year.
Description of Work: Painted most of the interior and put up crown molding in our bedroom; also stained our fence in the back yard and painted the back and side wall of our yard. In addition he pressure washed the outside of the house.

They did an excellent job. The house is 2 stories and needed scaffolding with a lot of windows up high. They converted the wood framed windows from oil base to water base paint. This meant that they needed to sand and prep each window frame and put a special primer on. I wanted to go with the oil base paint, but Gary the owner talked me into the water base paint and did all the extra prep work without charging me extra. The water base paint does not get chalky like the oil base and am glad he talked me into it. This is the second time they have painted the outside of the house the last time was almost 10 years ago and they did a great job then.

We asked Gary to come out to the house to provide a quote for exterior painting, he arrived on the day scheduled, and was early. Gary provided a verbal price range over the phone, we never received a formal written quote. His price range was a little high, but in the ballpark, however we don't think he wanted the job, so we moved on.

We hired GK Painting to repaint the interior of our home. It had not been painted in approximately 20 years. Gary and his crew repaired some drywall in the ceiling that had been damaged. They prepped and painted all three bedrooms, the bathroom, hallway and living room. Gary and his crew did a wonderful job. They were on time, neat and cleaned up at the end of every day as well as a thorough clean up at the end of the project. Gary also assisted us with our color selection and we could not be happier with the final results. His attention to detail and pride he takes in his work was unremarkable. One thing that really impressed us was that Gary was hands on for the entire project. We would definitely recommend GK Painting and look forward to having him paint the exterior of our home in the future.

Gary showed up early and toured the job with me, although i felt completely confident in his ability to do the job, his costs were a bit more than others due to equipment, our house is situated in such away scaffolding would be needed, which added quite a bit to his costs and therefore mine, the others that quoted the job had their own scaffolding, i would contact Gary to quote on other jobs

The crew was awesome, polite, clean, hard working and meticulous. The arrived at a reasonable time and cleaned up every day before they left. The preparation of the house took several days due to stucco damage and dry rot in eaves. Each problem was satisfactorily addressed. The were always willing to work around our needs and leave pathways open for us to access the house and yard. Gary did an awesome job showing numerous color combinations and helping us to truly do a complete home makeover. We love the color and are getting numerous comments on the quality of the work done. It looks new again -...! They definitiely took the time to address issues and to perfrom high quality work. We got several lower bids - but they in no way had the expertise and attention to detail in their explanation of work to be done; or in their approach to the project. We are glad we went with this business. If anyone wants to see the finished product you can email me at lpinla@aol.com . As soon as my pics are uploaded I will be happy to share the results!!! BTW, they did a lot of extras such as installing new porch lights, cleaning our vinyl fence, hauling away old lumber, and showing us samples of colors before they started at no additional cost cost.
Description of Work: Services included consultation on improperly adhered stucco, color consultation and recommendations, installation of a new cement driveway about 50' x 22'. I just recently had my house painted by GK Painting. However, we found out during the rain that we needed a new roof. The roofers left some stucco that needed repair, along with quite a bit of painting, due to a lot of new wood replacement & new metal siding. In addition, our rafters needed new caulking because of all the foot traffic from above. We also had new garage doors installed, so the garage jambs needed some attention. Called Gary on Friday to do some damage control on the paint, stucco & caulking. He came out on Tuesday and worked through Thursday to get it all back to speed. I can always count on Gary. He knows what he's doing. He doesn't like to cut corners in his work and is very detail oriented. If you see it, he probably saw it too and before you get a chance to bring it up, it's usually fixed. He communicates everything along the way. Both he and his crew are hard working & professional. I've had many other workers for various jobs at my house over the last couple of months and GK Painting sets the standard high. I don't have to worry when he's on the job or babysit to make sure it's done right. All in all, I trust his work and I'll continue to use him for future jobs.

A++++++ All I can say is WOW, Exceptional work and service. I cannot say enough good things about Gary & his crew. I sent an inquiry on Angie's list to GK Painting for exterior paint & Gary called back within 10 mins and scheduled a time to come out immediately. While he was at my home, we walked around the house & went over all the details of my home that needed to be painted, wire & old vent holes that needed to be closed up, stucco repair from our trim removal & what needed to be sanded on our eaves and fascia boards, etc. Our fascia boards really needed a lot of attention & sanding, especially since I was changing the color from dark to light, not to mention that the eaves on our home are closely related to that of a cabin chalet - they are huge and therefore very noticeable. The fascia/eaves were originally a dark chocolate brown that covered up a lot of flaws, but I wanted them to be primed and painted over white. White will always show wood details (including problems), so the prep work that needed to go in was going to be a lot of work. However, Gary was more than willing & prepared to do the work. In addition, he asked about my badly damage gates on each side of my home and about our front balcony railing that had wood rot & was not up to code (the rails were too far apart). He said that he could build us two new gates and re-do our entire balcony railing. The gates and railing were very high on our priority list of home repairs, especially because we have a pool in the back & not up to code, so it was necessary for safety purposes. I didn't think my budget could afford the work at this time and figured it was too expensive but he gave us not only a favorable quote but it really was an exceptional one!! It was an answer to prayer. So we decided to move forward with GK Painting. He even gave us some referrals of other gate work he had done so we could see the work in advance. Gary and his crew showed up every day, very early and on time. They worked very hard and practically non-stop all day long. They kept their work areas clean as they worked and also before they left each day. They even cleaned up the side of the house and trimmed a few overgrown plants to make sure the house was ready to paint. Gary and his crew were very professional, very polite and friendly. He worked with me on the paint colors. I was so indecisive with the colors but he was completely patient with me the whole time. He didn't have a problem with letting see some samples on the wall before I decided. Also, I had removed the stone trim around the house and it needed to be re-stuccoed before they painted and they did an awesome job! Very professional. In fact, down the line, we were having some problems with our window guys around the same time and thankfully Gary caught it in time before final payment was made and was able to help us get them to fix up their problems and make sure they did their job right. In the end, we resolved between all parties to allocate some of the window money to pay GK Painting to fix up the problem, as the window guys said they were not trained to repair the stucco they damaged. The work around the windows looks great! I have to say that GK Painting went ABOVE & BEYOND! One thing that I noticed about Gary was his attention to detail. He really has an eye for detail and a strong work ethic. I noticed it all throughout the job. Plus he always knew where things needed to be re-touched, re-caulked, etc. I never had to ask them to be careful or make sure they did this or that. In fact, he did quite a few extras that not only showed he cared but reflected that he's not interested in cutting corners to make sure the job was done right. He put in the extra work on painting our back wall that normally wouldn't be included, he painted my front door and side door that he really did not have to do. The real above and beyond work was put into our eaves and fascia boards & caulking. On his final day, he even hung my brand new mail box for free. Overall, I felt as though Gary worked on my home as if it were his own. Everything looks great! The railing work & gates are awesome & our eaves and fascia boards are a showpiece. We consider Gary a friend, as we got a chance to get to know him a little on the job. He even brought us some food from his mom's restaurant. We are very pleased. You can be sure we'll be calling Gary back to do some remaining work on our home in the near future, including a pony wall, a pergola and interior painting of our open beam ceilings. My husband & I have nothing but good things to say. Give GK Painting a call and see what they can do. THANKS AGAIN, GK PAINTING!

Gary did a fantastic job. His crew were experienced and polite. Everything that I asked for was ment and his knowledge was appreciated. The clean-up was quick and spotless. I look forward to our next project and expect to hire these folks again.
Description of Work: Gary and the crew came early as planned 7:30. The set-up took a few hours as we have tall ceilings and a large living area. They did some sanding on our mantal from fire damage and used sealant over the burnt area on the stone. Every detail was talked through and we knew what to expect.

Three bids were taken for the project of repair/repaint the trim of a large single story house and double detached garage. Gary Kassabian of GK painting gave the most thorough estimate of what would be done. He spent a considerable amount of time looking at the entire trim of the house and garage, pointing out problem areas that he could see. He answered all questions and although his bid was higher than the others, his reviews on Angie's List influenced the decision to choose GK Painting. The initial contract was written 12/3/2012 and accepted 12/8/2012 with an estimated cost of $2,840. Work began on Saturday 12/8/12 with the power washing, at which time it was discovered that two more fascia boards needed to be replaced. Supplies and labor were adjusted to $350 to bring the total up to $3,190. A deposit of $360 was made and the new balance was $2,830. Work resumed on Monday 12/10/12. The two workers arrived early and worked steadily all day stopping for a half hour lunch. After two days of working they found more extensive damage to some rafters and fascia board. Gary would stop by to check on the progress and when his workers showed him the damage he talked to us about it. He took the time needed to explain how the existing flashing was not properly measured and tacked down to prevent water seeping into the wood. After much discussion we decided to replace all the flashing on the house and garage because the existing one had been painted and was chipping in some areas. We decided to replace with the brown color and then match the trim to it. The last decision to replace the flashing, additional fascia board, and sister the worst rafters increased the bost by $2,000 making the new balance $4,830. The completion of the work was hampered by rain until Monday 12/17/12. We decided to postpone the work on the thresholds, reducing the balance by $220. The final cost was $4,970. The work was very well done and we are extremely pleased with the results. The two workers were very neat, always cleaning up the area every day they were here. They were very pleasant and polite too. As a side comment to this project we would like to say that Gary was very patient and understands when questions must be asked, particularly by women who want to know why the cost is what it is. Gary stands by his work and why he charges what he does. Part of the issue with these types of home maintenance projects is waiting too long to repaint and/or repair, in addition to having the work done right the first time. Lastly we would like to add that Gary was always quick to respond to phone calls. He is a very courteous, respectful professional. In all fairness we had no other prior experience to compare the price to so we felt that rating it "Good" was appropriate.
Description of Work: Replaced flashing on large home and detached garage. Sistered bad rafters. Replaced badly worn fascia board, sanded/caulked others. Primer and color coats on eves, rafters and fascia board. Replace one threshold and scrape/sand two other thresholds, apply semi-gloss. Initial estimate was $2,840. Final cost was $4,970.

Nothing but kudos for Gary and his crew. Entire experience was positive and the results were phenomenal. He started with unique color combination recomendations, showed up on time, crew was pleasant and minimized the mess during the process, cleaning up every evening. He performed absolute magic with our wood doors and moulding trim - transforming our once ordinary looking pine doors with a darker, richer hardwood look that has elicited many compliments from subsequent guests. CK Painting has now painted 4 of our neighbors homes and we all have enthusiastically recommended him to other friends. He was not the low bidder, but he was well worth the difference in price. He's more than a painter - he's an artist at what he does.....
