They are very professional. They did a very good job. Their pricing is reasonable. They listen to our requests.

It all went very smoothly and on schedule. Blanco and 2 helpers showed up the first day right on time they quickly moved the furniture and removed the carpets. They sanded the floors then applied the stain. They let it dry overnight and applied urethan the next morning. They came back that evening and the finish was still not completely dry the weather was unseasonably cold so they waited till the next day to put back the furniture. During the process they were also careful not to contaminate the rest of the house with dust by putting up plastic barriers on all the doorways. There may have been some other steps in between but I was at work most of the day. Blanco was easy and pleasant to work with and did everything he said he would. I would definitely use them again.

We asked other people to do it and they said it couldn't be done. He did a beautiful job. There were a couple of scratches that he came out and fixed immediately. I would talk to Mr. Blanco, he did a very nice job, he's very professional, and a good man. I would use him again and I have suggested him to our interior decorator.

It overall was a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE! I can barely type this without my hands shaking in fury. I have never been so frustrated in my life. To begin everything was fine, Blanco was courteous and punctual, but that quickly faded. The tearing out of the carpet and laminate went quickly and cleanly. We decided to restore and match the oak flooring to have hardwood flooring throughout the house. As soon as the teardown of the old flooring was complete installation started on the new floors as well as the wall furnace. I asked Blanco if permits were needed for the Electrical and Furnace upgrade and he stated that they were not. ( HE VERY MUCH LIED ABOUT THIS.) The floors were installed and sanded and bleach stained in some problem areas. (He charged extra to wood bleach those areas even though he guaranteed in the beginning that the floor would not show stains after the sanding) This is when things took a change, as soon as he was done sanding he was trying very hard to have me leave the floors bare and not stain, which i wanted to stain to match the tones of the kitchen.(HE WAS FRUSTRATED and so was i) while this was done along with the polyurethane of the floors the electrical work took place. another crew came in to do the electrical work. (This was the third crew, none of them sub contractors even though he has no employees according to the state, which i found out yesterday made all of these people a liability to me.) The Electrical work was completed but a huge hole in the back of the house was left open, where they had to tear out to run new lines up to the roof. (I asked if he was going to fix that and he claimed that the painters would have to fix that not him,??? , we argued this point and he agreed to patch it) the floors are now stained and dried and they come in to run quarter round for all the gaps left underneath the baseboards. (This is the last day of the build for him to make the deadline because i was moving the day after). I come home later that day as the workers are packing up and find that only 1 of the 5 areas that needed quarter round was completed and that they did not finish the patching of the wall in the back for the electrical work. I call blanco to tell him this and he gives me HUGE attitude claiming that he is upside down on this job already and that i am nit picking his work..( BECAUSE IT WAS HORRIBLE!) at this point i am super frustrated from all the things i find. ( BRAND NEW FLOORS ALREADY SCRATCHED IN THE KITCHEN AND DINING, FRESHLY PAINTED WALLS ARE FILTHY, BATHROOMS WERE VILE, DOOR FRAMES NICKED, BASEBOARDS STAINED, SCREEN DOOR HANDLE BROKEN, FRONT WINDOW SLIDER DERAILED AND CRACKED!) and to make things better he is asking me for a cash advance on the remaining balance. (He received half up front, which i found out yesterday is illegal fromt he state contractors board website. you should only pay 1000 or 10% whatever is less). So after a scream match on the phone he says he will come over and write down everything he needs to fix. He comes on my moving day, when i have no patience for him and takes the list and schedules to have the guys come on monday.(I request time off work, then he calls me monday and reschedules for tuesday and does the same to finally come in wednesday and half a** fix some the things he left wrong) after all these lies and deception from him, i make a call to the city to find out more about permits, and find out he lied about needing permits for the wall furnace and electrical panel even though i directly asked him. I am now stuck with probably being fined for the unpermitted work by this shady contractor. I now hope that angieslist will somehow help me in this dilema. I cannot express the level of frustration that i have delt and still am dealing with.

Blanco is a very nice man and put a lot of pride into his work. We had a couple of miss communications but over all he has good to work with, For the price the quality was good. He also is a licensed general contractor. I trust Blanco and would definitely call him again.

Martinez was friendly and we were able to schedule an appointment for the next day. After his assessment he emailed us a price quote within a couple of hours and promptly answered all questions. However, he quoted labor and supplies based on 700sf when our unit only needed less than 500sf of work. Additionally, when asked for a detailed breakdown of his price quotes, specifically requesting a per sq feet labor charge and details on all the supplies he was planning on using etc, he returned only quotes for "labor" and "Materials, adh. glue. and miscelanous" without any explanation on how he got the numbers. Although, Martinez was very a nice person and was very punctual, we decided not to go with him for this job.

He was prompt in coming out to give me an estimate on the job. Once we worked out the final price, he began work within a week. The job lasted a little longer than anticipated because of some problems encountered along the way, but nothing out of the ordinary. I would definitely recommend him, especially if you're on a tight budget.

It was difficult to start the work once we got a quote, because Mr. Martinez was battling a cold and there was a job before ours that took longer than he expected. Once he finally arrived, however, things were smooth sailing. He did beautiful work and repaired the area in our living room/dining room, where we took out an old floor furnace and the previous owners took out a small bookcase. Mr. Martinez found the same wood and size as our oak floor planks, and then made it look as if the repaired planks were a part of the original floor. The results were magical. The floors look incredible, and Mr. Martinez was very professional and did not have to be supervised. He said it would take 3 days, and it ended up taking 4 because he was still recovering from the cold. But I would not hesitate to recommend him - he does great work, very reasonable prices, and is worth the wait.

I think is work was excellent, there only small details that we wish we had brought to his attention at the time for him to correct, but I think speaking to him works. He his a good listener and responds well.

I called Pastor on approx. the 9th of March and we set up an appointment for the next day where he arrived at the designated time. He took measurements and right on the spot he told me how much he would charge and absolutley no hidden charges or anything. I hired him on the spot he came well dressed for the occasion very polite, professional and most of all very humble man. His number one priority was to get the job and do it right. He came on Monday the 15th of March and began the job like he said he would. He covered everything up, took good care of my furniture and made sure everything was clear so he can begin. The first day he sanded away the old color and put on the first of three coats. The next day he came back put the second coat and came later on that afternoon and put on the finishing touches and he finished it up. He gave me detailed instructions on how to keep the hardwood floor clean and keep it looking good and he advised me if I had any further questions or concerns to not hesitate to call him anytime. Great job!

My husband and I are renovators of rental property and we've had hardwood floors sanded before, so we know what a difference it makes in the way renters see an apartment when they come to look at it. Martinez brought back to life in a few short days what seemed to be pretty bad off red oak floors and didn't balk when we asked him to fill in the gaps around the flooring pieces rather than replace them. Martinez was able to work in the small portion of flooring my husband had already replaced and make it look as original as possible with the rest of the flooring. Most important to comment on and confirm all the good things that others are saying about the way Martinez works. He was willing to be as detailed (or not) as we wanted him to be, he communicated and showed up when he promised. I got the price quote from him and set the job up but he dealt with my husband after that, and he worked seamlessly with both of us. He is very personable and easy to work with and will get the job done when he says he will. The language barrier didn't stop any of us from getting what we wanted - beautiful hardwood floors that increased the value of my property and rental potential. I will absolutely have him back to do the second apartment when we're ready for it.

Everything you've read about Martinez is true. He does impeccable work for a good price. He's very personable and easy to work with, as long as you can get over the language barrier. The floors were in pretty terrible shape and now they look like new. He came out on Monday and the job finished the following Monday, with a thorough sanding, 2 coats of stain and a coat of high-gloss on top. My only warning is if you're super picky about what you want or you want work to happen on a tight schedule, make sure you have a bilingual friend on hand who can interpret exactly what you want. If you're a little more open about things, you'll have no problems even if you don't speak Spanish. Overall, it couldn't have gone better. Martinez does great work and I'll recommend him to anyone who needs this sort of work done.

We met with three flooring contractors for the job described above. Of course, with each estimate, we learned more about what goes into a flooring project and eventually changed what we originally asked of Martinez. Martinez's price was about 35% less than that of larger flooring companies. We felt confident about his work after reading his Angie's List comments. With the language barrier in mind, we made a list of Spanish flooring words. With the list and my existing moderate Spanish skills, we were able to communicate our questions, wants and explanations. We modified our original plan for a neutral/natural stain and went for a darker stain. Martinez was happy to do so for a small price. He laid samples and worked with us to pick a stain that matched our architecture. Our second big change was to upgrade the top coat to "Traffic" and apply two coats. Again, Martinez was happy to oblige our desires and explained the price difference before we made a final decision. Martinez worked quickly and cleanly through the five day project.

I called him for a minor floor repair and we set up a tentative appointment for Saturday 12/5/09. Later his wife called to confirm appointment. On Saturday, he doesn't show up or call. The following Tuesday, I called him back to see what happened (give him the benefit of the doubt), I left a message and never got a response.

On budget, on time, no surprises. Very courteous and pleasant.

Overall a good experience. Mr. Martinez knows floors and does a good job. He is polite, punctual and professional and his price is fair. As mentioned by others, though, communication is the weak link. It is not that we could not communicate -- between his English and our Spanish we got along fine. However, there were some misunderstandings as a result of not communicating thoroughly enough. The floors in our house had multiple serious stains. I initially indicated to Mr. Martinez that I wanted a dark red color and Mr. Martinez let me know that that would not be a good choice because of the stains and he said that we needed a darker color. After the floor was stained and sealed I saw that the stains were still visible and the color was not all that dark. Mr. Martinez explained that that stain was the best one to use because it made the stains least visible. After he explained it to me, I did believe that he made the best of a bad situation. However, I also felt that he had not clearly communicated the expected outcome at the beginning of the process. Perhaps if we had discussed this issue more fully at the beginning of the process we could have discussed other options, such as replacing part of the floor. After the floor was stained and sealed, I decided that I would live with it and that it probably would be OK once the furniture was in the room. I would use Mr. Martinez again but I would really make sure that I communicated with him every step of the process.

After reading several good reviews on Mr. Martinez, I called him to give me a quote to refinish the hardwood floors on a home I recently purchased. I had removed the carpet myself, but there were nails and wood strips with carpet tacks that still needed to br removed. The floor was dirty but he told it was in good shape and did not need wood replaced. He measured the floors and told me he would charge $1680 to remove the nails, sand, and then lay down one coat of stain and a few coats of polyurethane. This quote was to do living room, dining room, a hallway and 2 bedrooms. All in all, about 1,200 square feet or so. After sanding, he told me to select a stain color from his samples, and he laid it down in a test area. I did not like the original color, so we changed it. He started and completed the job on schedule. The whole job took about 3-4 days to complete. Overall he did a great job and there were no surprises. I would recommend him to others.

I did not even think we needed to get the hardwood floors refinished in our house until I saw the end results. I thought they looked OK when we bought the house but they now look like completely brand new floors. The floors look beautiful, we get compliments on them from everyone that comes to the house. Martinez came on time, gave me the best price, finished when he said he would and I could not be happier. The area where he had to repair them and replace boards looks and matches perfect - even I can't remember where the damage started exactly. Great job!!!

Martinez made an appointment for an estimate on a Sunday. He was right on time. He gave me a price to remove my old flooring, repair some of the sub floor and install the new oak flooring which was supplied by me. He said it would take 2 1/2 days to complete and he could start on Wednesday. He arrived on time everyday and completed the job as promised. He and his helper were very polite and did an excellent job. I am pleased with the outcome and would use Martinez again.

Wanted Pastor Martinez to redo the flooring before moving in. He had 2 other people to help and did a great job. He estimated that it would done in 4 days and they completed the job on time. I spoke some spanish and it was very helpful. My husband though spoke no spanish and there was a serious language barrier (Even if Martinez appears to understand, make sure and verify that he really does understand ) Overall though, the floors look amazing and for way less than what others had quoted us.

Mr. Martinez did a great job. He was quick to come out for an estimate, and very friendly and cooperative when we had a miscommunication as to the first appointment time. He explained what needed to be done and what my options were for the finish.They were prompt, and removed the carpets (and at the end hauled away the refuse), sanded and then applied two coats of varnish to the living and dining room, hallway and two bedrooms. He was understanding of some difficulties in being able to clear away the furniture and objects from one of the rooms, and worked around this obstacle with a problem. The floors look outstanding, and we were quite pleased.

Martinez knows hardwood floors. The work that he and his worker subs did turned out beautifully. He was knowledgeable about which stains would lift, made color suggestions and was always affable on-site. The language barrier is a real problem, even larger than I anticipated from the other reviews and our initial estimate visit with Martinez. Ours was a complicated job, demanding the install work and refinish work be divided into two chunks, working around an excellent contractor, tile man and painter. We had to repeatedly ask Martinez to make sure to follow through on several details: please remove trash, don't forget to execute one door threshold upstairs. Overall, the great floor work, which was very competitively priced, speaks for itself.

Did a really great job. Damage was more extensive than was apparent with old carpeting in place, he gave fair price to repair all unknown damages and complete the job.

Called him. He gave the best estimate. He started right away. He and his partner were always prompt. They had to tear out carpet and move a lot of furniture around, but they did a beautiful job.

Mr. Martinez was very prompt in coming over to give an estimate, and then completed the work on the next day. He also gave me a discount on flooring materials because he already had some in stock. The sub-floor was uneven and he did a great job of leveling it out before installing the new hardwood.
