Anne Hulegard

I went through a long and frustrating home purchase that felt like running an obstacle course in a marathon. The purchase was complicated mainly because it was a short sale and the seller and seller's agent were either confused or dishonest. Among the countless problems we encountered in the process, one of the highlights was that the seller, who was a widow, kept signing documents in both her name and her deceased husband's name. Apparently, neither she nor her agent thought to have the title transferred to the widow alone after her husband died. Anne called the escrow officer, the title company, and Remax's (she's with Remax) in-house attorney to get advice on how it should be dealt with. Another highlight was the seller's agent telling us on the day of the closing that the seller's family could not move out that day--because they couldn't find a mover who was available until a week later. I could have evicted them, but I didn't want to. It was a short sale and I realized that it was an emotional experience for the seller's family. I was resigned to give them the week. But Anne again showed really good sense without backing down. She asked the seller's agent to send a copy of the mover's estimate. She also asked for the mover's name and number. Then she started calling up movers in the area in the hope of finding someone who was available earlier. Throughout all this craziness, Anne kept her temper and dealt with each problem cooly and competently. Even though the selling agent was less than professional, Anne never descended to that level. She was always warm and friendly, and I was grateful she was working for me every time a new problem came up. Another thing I really need to say about Anne is that unlike some agents, she never once pushed me to make an offer on a house I didn't like. But once I showed interest, she fought really hard for me. You really couldn't ask for a better realtor.
