R & K ROOFING

Roof on this one story house near end of useful life. Further, had been repaired 3 times due to Santa Ana Winds damage. April 12, 2018 I phoned Rodney McGee, who is R & K Roofing and asked him to look at the roof and give a price to replace. He and his son came out and inspected and measured. On April 17 he handed me a Proposal and Contract. I called him on April 20 with several questions, which were answered to my satisfaction. Following discussion of available colors, Rodney, on April 23, brought shingle samples and an actual shingle in a color which he judged would be acceptable. My wife and I looked at the samples and actual shingle and made our color choice. At that meeting, accepted his Proposal. He obtained City Permit, ordered port-a-potty for his crew and ordered the shingles. On May 7, Rodney and his crew arrived about 8 am and started removing the old shingles. As a good area cleared and prepared, new roofing paper was applied. This work continued on the 8th and the new shingles were delivered that afternoon. Laying new shingles began on the 9th. By about 10 am on the 11th, work was done. All drip edge replaced, new flashing at all plumbing and stack penetrations, new fireplace chimney flashing and new flashing in the one valley between the house and the garage. Replaced turbine ventilators with "eyebrow" type. New flashing neatly painted. Clean up was through. Shingles are CertainTeed Landmark. Crew composed of experienced roofers who took time and care to do a through job. 29 squares of roofing. We are well pleased with the new roof. Price was somewhat high, but we wanted, a got, a quality roof.

Winds on night of December 16-17, 2017 damaged house roof. Roof is near end of useful life and has been repaired twice before due to wind damage. Called roofer who had done previous repairs, he had not returned my call by December 19. Found R & K Roofing on Angie's List with numerous positive recommendations. Called R & K Roofing. Got lucky! Rodney McGee, owner came to house that afternoon, inspected damage and made repair estimate. As rain in forecast, I was anxious to have work done. He said they could do it the next morning, December 20. Accepted his price. Rodney and his son arrived at 8 am the next morning, as agreed. By 11 am had removed and replaced 100 square feet of composition shingles and 50 lineal feet of ridge covers on two ridges. All cleaned up. They were very efficient and tidy. Rodney is a second generation roofer and has been in this trade for 40 years. His son is also a roofer. Work went very well and I am very pleased.

Rodney responded quickly to my call. He arrived on time to our appointment, professionally assessed the problem and provided an estimate of the cost. He had no problem with my intention to get a second estimate. After a much less satisfying experience with the second roofer I'd contacted, I scheduled the repair with R&K. Again, Rodney and his son arrived on time, completed the job beautifully and charged the lesser end of the estimate range that we'd been given. We haven't had a heavy rain yet in order to fully test the results, but our experience with R&K was excellent.

Showed up right on time for the estimate and the job...replacing tiles and resealing vents. The estimate was fair yet the final cost came in under the estimate AND he did a bit extra, even though it wasn't required by the buyer (or on the inspection report), because, "it needs to be done and without it they'll be problems down the road." Good, honest and reliable contractor...doing great work at a fair price. If i need ANY work on the roof of my new house R & K is who I'll call.

I've had a really great experience with this provider. He arrived on time both for the estimate visit and the day of the work. He was pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. He explained the work that needed to be done and made sure that I understood it. He worked efficiently and safely. His workers were very polite and respectful. They left the area clean. They really take great pride in their work and it shows. Really great job and I would use this company again in the future!

THEY'RE VERY PROFESSIONAL, AND THEY DO GOOD, HONEST WORK. I WOULD SAY THEIR PRICES ARE IN THE GENERAL REALM OF A FAIR PRICE. THEY ARE NOT WAY OFF THE SCALE, BUT THEY ARE NOT CHEAP. THE PEOPLE ARE EXCELLENT.
