Rancho Santa Margarita Lock & Safe-RSM Lock

I was locked out on the first night in a new rental, while walking my puppy. It was cold so I went to a friend's, instead of waiting for a locksmith that night. I emailed several locksmiths and went to sleep. RSM had responded by morning and was able to squeeze me in first thing. He drilled out the front door knob, which the landlord had neglected to repair. He repaired and essentially rebuilt the broken deadbolt on the garage door. He replaced the front door knob. Since the hardware, on the double doors, was fancy brass hardware from the 70'5, he had to rig something up to make it work. It looks fine and works great. He rekeyed everything to match and made multiple keys for me and the landlords. Professional, courteous...recommended!

Service above and beyond! I drove in from out of state to a newly purchased residence and wanted locks changed before the first night there. Bob and his wife were very responsive to all my questions and were available on Sunday to confirm my Monday afternoon arrival. Bob was prompt and, not only performed the needed service, but volunteered to change a furnace filter while he was here. He also offered suggestions regarding new door hardware for our renovation. I also found out that Bob does garage door opener work. He came back the next morning to change the code and add an outside keypad. I would absolutely recommend RSM Lock & Safe and would not hesitate to use them again.

Bob came earlier than I expected and was extremely professional. He communicated everything for me. This was especially important because I had never done a rekey service before and was about to change the main lock, but because of his work, I saved hundreds in getting new locks and repainting the door. I called RSM Lock & Safe and a quote was given over the phone. I scheduled an appointment for the next day. Bob was very professional and punctual and he completed the job quickly. He called before his scheduled arrival time, asking if he could come in early, which worked fine for us. He was friendly and efficient. He even offered to show me the process he goes through to rekey the locks. Overall a pleasant experience, I'd definitely use him again!

After another company I called from Angies list ABC electric cancelled on me on the day of service my husband found RSM locksmith. I called him and he was able to come within 1 hour. The owner was so nice. I found out that one of my deadbolts that were not locking into place was due to the fact that a previous locksmith (Mullholand security/locks) did a shotty job. I had those locks replaced with more secure locks upon moving in but they were too lazy and only replaced the lock but not the strikeplate that the locks slide into. Mulholland used the original one and so the give was not big enough for the new one. We also found that they used the smaller screws that were 1/2 inch instead of the supplied 3 inch ones , hence making my brand new Grade A deadbolts for outdoor locks not as secure. He fixed all the screws with longer ones . He also readjusted my keys so they would fit better onto my locks because those were not done properly too. The owner was so nice and knowledgeable. No hard sell, no scare tactics. Just plain honest truth. You can't go wrong.

They were good. It was only one guy that came out and he was the owner. His name was Bob Slammer. He came on time and did whatever I had asked him to do. He’s given an estimate for some future work. He did a pretty good job. He was pretty fast and was here within an hour or 45 minutes. I would use him again in the future.

Bob Slama did a good job fixing my front door Baldwin lock and dead-bolt, so I'm not complaining about his work or professionalism. My only beef is with the price. I had a "1/2 Price Service Call" coupon from Cost Cutter Coupons. We talked on the phone before he came to my house and I understood something was $35. I didn't know if that was the full price for the service call or the half-price rate. I knew it would be more money for parts that were needed. The only part added was a long screw. He used WD-40 and spent about 30 minutes working on the lock including dismantling it and drilling the doors a little. I was expecting to pay a lot less than the $120 he charged me. Bottom Line: RSM Lock and Safe Inc. (Bob Slama) knows his stuff and should be able to fix your door lock problems. I have complete faith in his knowledge and ability. I just advise you to understand how much he will charge you and not make the assumption I did that without extra parts, it would just be the service call fee. UPDATE: April 18, 2011. I received a refund check in the amount of $20 (making my cost now $100) from RSM Lock & Safe, Inc, after they read my ^review on Angie's List. I also received a very nice note with it including this, " I understand that you didn't have a problem with the work itself, but with the lack of clarity of the cost of this work. I truly apologize. Your review helped us in realizing that we need to communicate with our customers better." I feel better about having paid $100. I would still call them again, for future work, but will ask for a minimum and maximum estimate, next time.

Bob showed up promptly the following morning, and fixed the door so it now works perfectly, and I don't need to replace it. I was very impressed with his professional manner and prompt service as well as extremely reasonable price.

It all went extremely well. The service was performed efficiently and with very high quality. One of the dead bolts had been purchased from a manufacturer that did not allow a matching key, but Bob had the parts needed to replace this one deadbolt--and with a perfectly matching color. The entire process took only about an hour. I was VERY satisfied. (Note that I had, before finally getting in touch with RSM Lock & Safe, had a problem in that the Angie's List website was linking to the wrong email address for RSM Lock & Safe. This turns out to have been an old email address of the company's...and this problem has since been corrected.)

Excellent. Called the office to schedule an appointment, had somewhat of an emergency. The office person that answered the phone was pleasant and easy to talk too - that's when I knew I picked the right company to complete what needed to be done. Bob called me from the field and scheduled the work during lunchtime that afternoon. I was called twice; upon arrival and completion while I was at work. All work was completed, keys were placed exacly where Bob said they would be and I am very pleased with the professionalism and expertise with the way everything was handled. I spoke with Bob on the phone, he gave an estimate and arrived on time. He explained what he did, completed some extra work to give us a better job (machining to install Baldwin's new-style shaft in our older door) and held to his estimate. This was a top notch experience from initial contact to completion. I'm so glad I checked Angie's List, found Bob and had him fix our door. The alternative was a brand new lockset - that we clearly did not need. Bob steered us the right way.

I had a front door lock that needed to be replaced. It was a special order knob that could not be purchased at the hardware store. RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA LOCK & SAFE came over within a few hours of my call. He showed be the problem, explained in detail what could be done. Then he presented me a catalog to choose my door knob, but I picked the one he had in stock. He gave me an estimate that was accurate. He came back in two days and did the job within an hour. He was clean, threw down a drop cloth and went over my bill, it was the same as the estimate. You could not tell he replaced anything! There were no scratches, missing paint pataches or chips. Perfect job. He also keyed my front door lock to my existing keys for free.

Bob was on time, efficient and very pleasant to work with. He did a great job and we will definitely use him again. We recommend him without hesitation.
