He called the previous day and asked if it was OK to move the appointment back 30 minutes due to a special request from a large client. I was more than happy to accommodate Bob. He showed up when promised, finished the job ahead of schedule, and was very professional and friendly. I would definitely use this provider again and would highly recommend him to others.

He arrived when he communicated he would he looked at the door and we talked through what we had discussed on the phone. He was very fun to talk with and very professional. He fixed the door AND made us keys to work with what we had. I will definitely use his services again. I actually asked him for extra business cards so I can hend them out to recommend him. He was great!

+ -1 moreWhile repainting our front house door, we removed the hardware, including the key lock and dead bolt. When we tried to reinstall it, we realized that the mechanism was delicate and would no longer work correctly. It was late Saturday afternoon, and we had a gaping hole in our door and no way to lock the house! We called Bob Slama, and he was out in less than an hour. He told us that the lock itself was slightly bent, and to replace it would be difficult because the style was discontinued and a similar lock by a different manufacture was very expensive and had to be shipped. He managed to repair our existing lock, and quickly finished the job. We were quite relieved, and would definitely call him again.
Description of Work: Reinstalled a front door key-lock/dead bolt combination door handle and lock.

+ -1 moreWe bought a re-sale home and wanted to have all the locks changed for our protection and peace of mind. I called Bob and he was great over the phone. I asked him all of his pricing on the phone because I wanted to make sure I understood. He took the time to explain everything. For the day of the job he was on-time, very professional and did an excellent job. I felt that he really took the time to do the job right and did not rush anything. I gave him a "B" or good for pricing because I did get a better quote from another lock smith company who was also on Angie's list, but the other lock smith (Not Bob) was also not as nice over the phone and kept putting me on hold. I felt that sometimes you really get what you pay for and was willing to pay a tiny bit more because my gut told me Bob would be on time and reliable. Glad I went with him!
Description of Work: We had our entire home re-keyed, we also had Bob change out our mailbox lock.

+ -1 moreBob came out within hours of my call. He removed the deadbolt and replaced it with one I had already purchased. He fixed the sagging door. It didn't close right. I had no idea that this was what was causing it. It just needed longer screws in the hinge. He had extra parts to work with the latch because the one that came with it didn't fit. I mentioned that I was going to buy another deadbolt for the backdoor and he showed me how I could order the lock with the same key code, and told me that I'd get two more keys if I bought a new lock so I didn't need him to make more keys. Good honest guy.
Description of Work: Changed deadbolt on front door. Put a long screw into the hinge to correct a sagging door that didn't close properly. Install latch hardware.

+ -1 moreBob was extremely responsive and professional when helping me deal with a Baldwin mortise and tenon lock. These are not very common and can be very expensive if needing to replace so when I heard the tenant in our rental house had trouble with it, I joined Angie's list to find someone reliable. Due to my schedule, I called early in the morning and asked him to coordinate with tenant directly. Not only did he talk to the tenant directly he was such an expert that he had diagnosed it before even going out. He gave me an estimate and true to his word, it was within his estimate range. I was literally many time zones away, and yet within 24 hours of calling, the lock was fixed. Great job!
Description of Work: Bob repaired a Baldwin mortise and tenon front door lock after tenant complained that inside handle came off. In addition he cleaned and serviced the lock (it is over 20 years old) and adjusted the striking mechanism so it closed properly.

We finally got a front door key, but all of the other keys were missing. RSM was able to produce keys for the rest of the locks. All of the keys worked smoothly and the job was completed quickly. We were given good advice and information about our locksets and options for the garage door. We thought the pricing was competitive, service was professional and friendly. They we very accommodating about fitting us into their schedule. Absolutely would hire again and recommend to our friends.

Description of Work: My wife and I recently purchased a home in Mission Viejo. The home had several keys to different doors and we wanted one set of keys and to have the doors re-keyed as well. Also, some of the doors hit the door jam before closing them. We went through Angie's List, Google, and Yelp. Bob had a lot of good reviews and was also licensed and insured. The owner Bob called me back shortly after leaving him a message. He explained his services over the phone and scheduled an appointment the following day. Bob came over (on time) and explained how locks worked and how to maintain them as well. We agreed on a price and the following day Bob installed three new locks, fixed a two doors that struck the door jam when closing them, and re-keyed several others. Bob would have fixed everything the day he was initially here for the estimate, but he did not have all the parts with him. Our doors did not have mathcing locks, makes, or styles.
