We recently hired Simms to do a solar install project on our home and it has NOT gone anywhere close to planned. We signed the contract in August 2022 and the panels were installed in late September. The panels were NOT installed per the agreed upon site plan and two of the panels are severely shaded by the other installed panels and producing about 50% of the other panels. However, that's the least of the issues we're facing. They installed the panels before officially getting the city permit and after many weeks of saying they were waiting on the city, I contacted the city and found out that the permit was never submitted. Simms then submitted the permit in late December and it failed review. They never corrected the permit submission and have now ghosted us. They no longer return calls or emails. So the current state is an unpermitted install not to plan with NEM 3.0 coming very soon with potentially large financial implications. They've left us high and dry with no clear path on completing the project in time for NEM 3.0. There are more trustworthy solar companies to do business with so look elsewhere.

It went like clockwork! I had a few people come out and bid for the job and Simms Solar was by far the cheapest. I was a tiny bit skeptical at first because usually the cheapest price company cuts corners, but after the owner came out personally to talk about the project and verified the quote, I felt a lot more comfortable and decided to go with them. The workers were incredible professional and kept the area they were working spotless. The owner mentioned that it would take 1-2 days to finish installing the system (which i my mind usually means 3-5 days) but they worked a very long day on a Saturday and were able to get it done in one day! The owner was there for the whole job and then came back the next day to do a final inspection. The owner and all of the workers were surprisingly personable when we talked to them, but other than that we hardly knew they were there. I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket and I am was thrilled when I saw my energy bill at the end of February!!

I personally worked with Simms Solar, more closely Matt Simms the owner of Simms Solar, and I can attest to the fact that the company is a highly professional and licensed solar contractor. Matt works closely with clients to determine their energy needs and then recommends a solar system to offer the optimum in energy cost savings. Simms solar maintains low overhead operating cost and he is therefore able to pass that savings on to his clients. Matt and his crew of installers are kind, consummate professional individuals and I would highly recommend them for your solar needs. In this instance Simms Solar Electric Inc. installed an 11 KW solar system on an asphalt shingle roof on a residential home in 1 day, which is a very remarkable installation period. Simms Solar handled all of the permitting requirements from the county building department as well ordering all materials, installing the materials and ensuring that finished solar system passed the county inspection.
