Prior to finding Tom from Poway Pools, I had been through atleast 12 pool guys in about 2 years. So many flakes and irresponsible people in the field I discovered. Tom was a gem and kept my pool in tip top shape over the years. Replaced a pump. Kept up with my pool cover, dealing with setting it up, replacing them approx. every 3 yrs. I left my pool covered most of the time (during swimming season) because I like the water to be about 90 degrees (arthritis). During his weekly service he would uncover the pool, clean it and cover it up again. Tom was my pool guy for approx 14 years. Since he stopped working for me, I have been through 3 guys in 3 years and I'm looking for another one now. Either they leave the pool with algae, don't show up, try to sell you all sorts of "repairs", won't deal with pool covers, etc. You might be wondering why he isn't servicing my pool anymore---it was a most unfortunate understanding. I had water squirting all over from my pool pump, flooding my yard. Water level in pool dropped to almost bottom of pool. Being the extremely unmechanical household that we are, we couldn't figure out how to turn off the pump so it would stop spewing water. After 5 minutes of fiddling with the pump, the timer or other parts, it stopped. I refilled the pool. Then the same thing happened again the next day. I was unable to reach Tom and left many messages. Water spewed all over. Water level in pool rapidly dropped. I got it to stop after fiddling with timing mechanism. I filled pool again. During this whole time I flooded my yard, my neighbors yard/garden; I thought my new pool pump would get ruined since water level dropped so low. We were in a frenzied panic. I still Couldn't reach Tom. I called around friends and got referred to a guy who came out immediately and fixed the seal in 5 minutes. He didn't even charge me. My boyfriend hired him to be our pool guy. That was the mistake. Several days later Tom finally called back and explained he had a medical emergency with his father who lived out of town and never got any messages until he got back to town. It was all a terrible misunderstanding. That man who rescued us from the crazy events, was a kind man, but the worst pool cleaner. We had yellowed walls under his care. With Tom, we NEVER had algae or yellowed walls. I went on to 2 other incompetent guys and am looking for a replacement--I found a guy who was rated high on Angies list, and might hire him---the only thing is he won't deal with pool covers and that is very important to me. He wants to do his weekly cleaning with the pool cover still on!! The search goes on. I HIGHLY recommend Tom of Poway Pools. The keyword here being: COMPETENCY!

I think their price is very reasonable compared to everyone else. I would highly recommend them to everyone and I trust them to do a good job. I have used them for quite some time and they have always treated me well.
