This was a very positive experience. I called APPLIANCE RESCUE (also 1-800 APPLIANCE) at about 9:15 AM this morning and made an appointment for between 10 AM to 12PM this morning. At 10AM Paul arrived with equipment in hand. After examining the oven, he explained what repair was required, said he had the part in his truck and told me the cost. The whole experience only took one hour and 15 minutes from the time I made the call. Paul was very knowledgeable, efficient and very professional. I would use this service again without hesitation!

I bought a $79 service coupon which covered all labor costs. 7 parts were needed, two of which were my choice to avoid another visit when parts wore out in near future. They came out as soon as I called for an appointment and came back as soon as the parts were available. The technician was knowledgeable and gave me good information about which optional replacement parts made sense to replace. I will definitely call them the next time I need repairs to an appliance in my home or rentals.
Description of Work: Replaced belt, 4 glides and parts holding dryer drum in place. Took a couple of days to get parts but it is an older dryer and needed 7 parts.

Location of thermostat made it necessary to remove microwave oven from its mounting. Resident was able to assist technician in removal and re-installation. In circumstances where resident would be unable to assist, technician would have had to reschedule repair and come back with a helper.
Description of Work: Technician had to diagnose an over-the-stove microwave oven that showed no signs of life. He discovered that problem was caused by a failed thermostat. Microwave restored to full service with installation of replacement thermostat.

Initial appointment was on Tuesday, June 12 and James was very courteous and professional. He said it was the motor and would have to order the part. He also said the part would be in by Thursday and scheduled an appointment for that day to repair my clothes dryer. Service was performed quickly and dryer working good as new.

The oven door in my new house would not open despite the best efforts of very handy non-professionals. Appliance Rescue Service was recommended on Angie'sList, and lived up to all the good things posted. They scheduled an appointment almost immediately, their representative arrived on time, was able to open the oven, diagnose the problem and order a replacement part. He returned as soon as the part came in, replaced it, leaving me with a working oven. Two house calls, substantial time spent opening the oven and diagnosing the electronic innards, a replacement electronic switch and installation -- all for $165. He was very professional - knowledgeable, timely, courteous. I will call them again for more appliance problems, and highly recommend them.

Overall, I had a very positive experience with Appliance Rescue. I thought the cost was very reasonable for the time Ilya had to spend getting the freezer fixed- he was here for around 2 hours.
Description of Work: Amana Refrigerator/Bottom Freezer- My freezer was not defrosting and the back panel was covered in frost. Ilya, the company's technician, arrived on time and quickly set to work. He is a most charming man and a true professional. He knew exactly how to take apart the freezer to get to the problem, diagnosed it and, after using an air sprayer to get the frost removed, he replaced the thermostat. He showed me the difference between the old and the new part. The charge for the thermostat was $79 and the service/labor cost was $139.95. He was very meticulous, carefully cleaned and dried everything, and did an excellent job in a timely manner. GE Washer (front loader)- when washing towels and throw rugs, the spin cycle gets out of balance, makes a horrible racket and doesn't get the water out. Ilya told me that my front loader was very sensitive to getting out of balance and the uneven weight distribution causes the washer to not spin at a very high rate of speed. He ran the washer awhile to see if anything was amiss. All was OK. Only answer is to learn by experience how full the load can be to spin evenly. No charge for his evaluation. Great service, great price and very well trained and experienced tech! I will definitely call Appliance Rescue again.

Guy came over to resolve a problem with Whirlpool clothing washer. He didn't examine any part of the machine (which really bothered me) but stood before the machine for about 30 seconds and said my problem is the water used for the washer. I told him to leave and I called another service provider thru my Whirlpool Extended Service Plan. He didn't even attempt to look into any part of the washing machine.
Description of Work: Let me explain the problem. For the past several weeks, and a few times over the past year, after I do a white wash using Clorax bleach (in the bleach dispenser) I do a dark wash a few days later and find there are several bleach stains on several of the dark clothing washed which has absolutely ruined the clothing.

I was very impressed with this company (also known as 1-800-Appliance). My oven stopped working on a Monday night. I called on Tuesday morning, having selected the company based on Angie's List reviews. They were able to set up a same-day appt that worked with my schedule. The technician, Tommy, called before he arrived to let me know he was on his way. He was very neatly attired in a crisp uniform. He diagnosed the problem within 15 minutes, had the replacement part in his truck (even though the oven dates from when the house was built in 1968!), replaced the heating element, and was on his way. He was very polite and professional. I was thrilled with the service. The diagnostic fee of $59 was waived when I did the repair, which cost $189. I highly recommend this company and will use them again for any appliance that needs repair.

Very well. Not only did they determine that my stove top was working properly, but before asking for payment for the service call, they asked if there were other appliances that I had concerns about--which I did. They inspected my 10 year old dishwasher which hadn't been sufficiently cleaning my dishes for months. I assumed it was just old and needed replacing. However, upon inspection, they found broken glass and detergent residue to be the problem. They gave it a good cleaning, removed debris and left recommendations on proper use (put the dishes in dirty!) and several samples of a new detergent (tablet form). Dishwasher has worked like new ever since ($40). I also told them about my built-in microwave/hood (6 yrs old) that hadn't been working since Jan 2011. When I had it looked at by another company earlier in the year, that company estimated over $800 for new parts! However, when Eric took a look at it, he discovered that the part it needed was $121. For the service call on the appliance that didn't need repair after all, I got my dishwasher and microwave in good working order for less than $300--no need to buy new appliances. I was very satisfied with the service. Eric was courteous and professional and I give him props for asking about the other appliances that I had rendered irrepairable. Not having to replace the dishwasher and microwave saved me several hundred dollars. It's now Jan 2012 and all 3 (stove, dishwasher and micro) are working wonderfully.
Description of Work: Service call for stove top--it was continually attempting to light without being turned on. After inspection, technician determined stove top was working properly and problem was perhaps a result of residual water after cleaning.

My washing machine broke. It would not spin, so I called Appliance Rescue. They arranged to come the next day. They have a call out service charge of $60 but they put it towards any repair (so no free estimates). The repair man came within the time frame that I had been told and he quickly knew what was wrong. He had the parts with him and fixed it in about 20 minutes total. He showed me the broken part and explained that my Kenmore is easy to fix and that it should last another 5-10 years. Their repairs are warranted for a year too. The repair man was very freindly and gave me a few pieces of advice on appliance care and then left.I would use them again.

On 9/23 Brandon diagnosed problem with igniters as being a controller and ordered part. Installation appt. set for 9/26. On 9/26 got a phone call that Brandon was ill and the appt was rescheduled for 9/27 On 9/27 Brandon arrived during the appointment window and set to work. He could not get the glass cook top to separate from the metal box even after removing the screws. He suggested that the installation may have been done incorrectly, but since I was not the original owner, I do not know how it was installed or by whom. He proceeded to apply pressure prying the glass up from the box and breaks the glass cook top. He calls in to his boss, comes back into the house and assures me that the company will replace the glass since he broke it. He continues with the scheduled repair, but only succeeds in breaking the glass more. He does not ever get the top off nor does he complete the scheduled repair. Later in the evening, I spoke with Greg Williams about the situation. He reports that the cook top is old and the part is difficult to get. He notes that he found it at one parts supplier for $700 but could not verify availability because the supplier is in Texas and was closed for the evening. He gives us the following options: 1) replace the glass – assuming it can be found and delivered 2) cut us a check for the value of the glass – which by his supplier is $700, but I could find it for no less than $1100 after a search of the internet 3) He could get us a cook top and install it. At this point, it became clear that this choice would be at his discretion and not of our choosing. He mentioned one he found at Sears Outlet that was only slightly more than the glass. He says he will contact the part supplier and find out about availability. On 9/28 I called Greg first at 1:44 and left a message telling him that we would prefer to have the cook top repaired rather than replaced if possible. After not getting an answer, I called again at 3:00 pm. I was told that he “had forgotten all about it” and would have to check on it tomorrow. This seems rather unconcerned considering the damage was done by his technician and has left one burner completely unusable. On 9/29 i called Greg Williams at 11:30 am. He has not looked into the availability of the part. I asked why not and was told that he “does not have $800 lying around to buy the part” so he has talked with his insurance company about how to proceed. Told me he would call back in the afternoon with news. At 3:00 pm I call the 1-800-Appliance number I called when first requesting service (1-800-277-5426). I spoke with a woman named Oraisa and explained the situation. I told her that the technician actually broke the glass on the cook top on Tuesday and that I am having trouble getting Greg to come to some resolution about the situation and at the last call was told that he was awaiting input from his insurance company about how to deal with the matter. She was shocked and I was told that they had never had anyone break a customer’s appliance before. She took my name and number and said she would look into the situation further and call me back. On 9/30 and 10/3 no calls were received. On 10/4 I called Greg. His stance is now that I signed a waiver and he is not responsible for the damage -- it says in the waiver that they are not responsible for damage done during the repair. He called GE and he says that since the cook top is 10 years old, if they had done the damage they would give me $100 and call it good. So, he is no longer willing to even give us the price of the repair ($700) in compensation. His stance is that since the cook top is 10 years old, he is not going to pay to have it repaired. His position is that since it is past the typical life of a cook top (he quotes GE as saying it is 7 years) he is not willing to do anything more. The best that I can offer is that he hasn't dared asked for any money for the and quot;repairand quot;.

My micowave stopped heating. Patrick came out to give me an estimate on the repair. My microwave is only a year and a half old and is a Maytag, but out of warranty. The transformer had to be replaced and the estimate was $268 part and labor. At Patrick's suggestion I decided to contact Maytag to see if they would cover the cost. Maytag covered the cost of the part ($148) so I am glad I called them. Appliance Rescue was able to order the part and returned to do the repair. The total cost to me was $120. I was very happy with Appliance Rescue's Service.

.I found them on Angies List. They came right away and ordered the part from South Korea. That is the only place you can get the Samsung replacement and that is why a lot of people don't deal with Samsung. It took nearly a week to receive the part and he fixed it for me. They were prompt, reasonably priced and they were very nice. The work went off very well. He actually found something else that we did not even know about. There are two little filter like things that is hooked on to your washer. One of them was installed upside down and backwards. So he caught something that I did not even know and that was nice. Actually we ended up ordering that part too because he said that was dirty and better order that part too. Since it was installed wrong that is why the washer ended up flooding because when I bought it, the guy who installed it had installed it just a little incorrectly. It finally broke. Those are like $900 a piece and my insurance don't pay it. I will use 1-800 Appliance in the future

Patrick was fantastic. He showed up within the time window provided, and was very professional and friendly. He found the issue right away, and removed the obstruction quickly. In addition, as part of his post-repair check, Patrick found a poor workmanship issue (i.e., pipe sections not properly connected and merely sealed by being painted over) and fixed that too. His attention to detail and care for his work prevented a future disaster that techically was not his problem.

They did quite a good job. The dryer is 12 or 13 years old. It was less expensive than buying a new dryer. He was friendly and helpful. He spent rather more time than I wanted explaining things to me which I understood it the first time he did. He didn't have to go through it 3 more times. He was a very pleasant gentleman and he was an older gentleman. I am not sure that he thought that as a girl I could understand the mechanical stuff he was talking about. But he was very nice about it and he did a very good job. The motor had to be ordered so we had to wait for it. After the motor came, he came right out and installed it and cleaned up after himself. I called him when the dryer was making a strange noise about 3 days after he did the installation and he came right back out. The dryer is still making the noise and is probably going to make it forever now. He also didn't charge me for the return visit. They know their appliances and they do a very good job. It turned out that the price he quoted me, the motor ended up costing more than he expected so I think they got less than $20.00 because all the rest was taken up by the price of the motor. I probably got a good deal on that.
