It took me a long time to find the right company to paint the outside of my home, but very thankful I found So Unique Painting! The whole process was great! The workers that did the job were so good, they worked so hard and painted the entire house in just two days, couldn't even believe they could finish that fast. Everything was pretty flawless, only a few minor spots they missed but fixed quickly upon my bringing it to their attention. I also felt like the pricing was very fair, I did not feel like they were trying to over charge me, I did a ton of research before and they charged me right where industry standard indicated I should be! I have a single family home and was charged $3,400, original price was $3,800 but I received a $200 discount for Angie's list special at the time and another $200 discount for removing all the gutters and drain spouts on my own, so they were not included in the paint job as I would be putting new ones up at a later time. This price was based on two colors total. Very happy with the work and the employees! Thanks so much!

They never quoted but didn't decline to quote, either, just said they would send it but never did, even after multiple emails and phone calls.

These guys were fantastic quick to start job, work happened on time and they did a good job. I will absolutely use them again.

Couldn't be happier with our experience. Repaired small stucco area near side door as well as all cracks. Paint job came out amazing. Workers were very professional and went above and beyond. Would definitely recommend them for anyone else looking for a painter at a reasonable price.

The job performance was excellent. Jose answered the phone each time I called. His workers always showed up and did a good job. It was finished on time and looked terrific.

The crew was prompt and efficient. There was a threat of rain, but the crew was able to finish ahead of the rain. I was very satisfied with the result.

Date of Service : Oct 21-23, 2019. We have used So Unique three times to paint the interior and twice to paint the exterior. This job was for the interior. Jose was our estimator and he also was the crew chief that painted the exterior trim about a year prior. We needed suggestions for the proper sheen in a couple of rooms as we needed to move away from the shiny semi gloss finish yet maintain some durability in areas where moisture is more prevalent, meaning bathrooms and kitchen. He suggested eggshell which was the perfect combination of less shine but more durability. He also suggested eggshell for the trim to create greater differentiation between the wall and the trim since our new wall color was far more neutral than what was there before. Good call. As for the crew itself, Rogelio was the crew chief and he recognized our house as he was part of the crew that painted the interior 8 years prior. He's been with So Unique for 20 + years. The crew arrived promptly when promised and were so efficient that it only took 3 days to complete what Jose thought might take 4 days to finish. The owner, Mark came midday on day 1 and day 3 to inspect the work and point out any flaws he saw needed correction. He only pointed out a few minor color overflows along an edge line that separated the wall from the ceiling. Something I really appreciated was that the dry wall on the hall ceiling had a crack that needed patching but since we did not originally need the ceiling repainted, Rogelio showed Mark this and Mark said, that they would paint this hallway ceiling for us in order for the patch to blend in correctly. No additional charge. Now that impressed me. For us we will continue to use So Unique whenever our home needs additional work both inside and out.

We are extremely pleased with the end result of this project. We didn't know what to expect with the kitchen cabinets or the vanities but they look like new. Everyone involved in this project from Jose, who gave us our estimate, to all the painters, were professionals and very easy to work with. If we found anything that we felt needed touched up, it was done.

Contracted for Exterior House Painting. I called for an estimate for exterior paint. They responded within 2 days and met with me several days later. There was extensive peeling of the initial texcoating finish throughout the 2500 sq. ft.house. Bob was very professional and understood my specific needs for uniformity in appearance once the failing paint was removed. There was extensive pre work to be done before the actual painting. They powerwashed the house to remove the failing texcoating finiish, chalkey and failing paint were wire brush and scrape edges of texcoating to get to solid edge. They flooded the stucco with clear 98 sealer with brushing and rolling into edges of texcoat. They applied keltext texture patch to smooth stucco and blend to match texcoat as best as possible. All patches were primed. They applied a flat latex via airless spray with backroll. Prep, prime, putty, and paint wood sash windows and doors. Decktone entry porch. The house was pre 1978, so the EPA lead containment procedures were required. Throughout the entire process they were very careful in keeping the area clean and assured my plants and shrubs were clear of paint and debris. They arrived promptly each day and were very friendly and professional. I was kept informed of each stage of the process and appreciated their response to all my inquiries. My neighbors said the house brightened up and added value to the neighborhood. They were also very pleased with the outcome and I continue to get complements. One neighbor requested an estimate for exterior paint. I highly recommend them and would hire them again. I am very pleased with the outcome.

We've been working with So Unique Painting for many years on various rental properties. Jobs done range from individual apartment interiors, to single family houses (2 story), to the exterior of a three story apartment building. Their price is reasonable, their crew is professional, clean, and easy to work with, they are punctual, the office is organized, and if we have any concerns, they will correct/touch up areas towards the end of the job, if needed. (We love that if we have a concern, they are responsive, and take care of it.) Recently, I just had a 2bd/2ba condo with an HOA. It was challenging, with no parking on site. But they still came and did a professional job. - Jose was my estimator, and coordinator. He was prompt with his written estimate, which came via email the next day. I wanted a low to no VOC paint to reduce irritation/smell since I was living in the space, and he was able to get the colors I wanted matched by Sherwin Williams in a Promar 200 to accomplish this. I was flexible with my timing on when the paint work got done, but ended up being lucky due to some rain, that they were able to schedule my interior work the following week. - Manuel and Rogelio did a fantastic job painting. They masked off areas not getting painted, put down thick paper to protect the wood floors, carpet, and tile, and for an area/soffit I wasn't sure about on the color, they even did a test square for me to see how it might look painted. I ended up wanting to leave it white, so they repainted the test square back to restore it. They helped move my furnishings to the middle of the room, and protected it, and then moved the heavy stuff back out after they were done. It was a 2 day job. They even helped me move my sofa and console on day 1, so that night I could still use the sofa and pull out my dining chair, and then reprotected it/moved it back in and covered it in plastic the next day. How thoughtful- after a long day of painting/work! I noticed a bit of paint on the side of the bath mirror, very minor, and asked them to clean it. From the angle, it was hard to tell the color, but after they cleaned it off, it turned out it was white (not their paint, but from the builder's painters before), but they still removed it to make it look nice. They really are exceptional with their customer service and attention to detail. They are very knowledgeable. My windows had extra thick caulking only on one edge (which I thought made the paint job look a little weird, as I thought they had missed going all the way up to the window), but upon closer inspection, they explained that it looked that way due to the extra thick caulking applied by the builder before. I appreciate that they showed me and took the time to explain why it looked that way. Overall- the space looks beautiful, warm, and inviting now. I am very happy. It looks great, they did it on time, on schedule, and in budget, and were a pleasure to work with.

I recommend them highly. The service was excellent. Just for the interior of the house was it was around $1,000. When they did the entire house it was about $4,000, so about $5,000 total for interior and exterior. They painted the house the last time back in 2005 and we have other properties in the Bay area that we have used them for. So, we have used them a lot.

Bob provided a detailed estimate of the work to be done and a competitive bid for the cost (and he showed up on time on the agreed date). He allowed a choice of paint brands/quality. Work provided was exactly as written in contract and was professionally done. All the prep work (power-washing, stucco crack sealing, etc.) was done as agreed to. The whole job lasted about 3 days and was done per schedule provided. I was very pleased with the attention to detail by the painting crew and the fact that the painting crew always checked and asked me if everything was ok. The overall job was outstanding and I will probably hire this company for future jobs.

THE WORST! • Bad Quality • Bad Bookkeeping • Bad Attitude This job was supposed to take ~30 days. It took them 92 days when they finally were relieved of their duties. The quality of the work was horrible. They did not prep the walls, so when the blue tape was removed….so was our texture….and instead of fixing the texture, they just painted over it. They didn’t caulk jambs. They didn’t vacuum their sanding mess before spraying door jambs. The list goes on. Pretty much everything had to be painted multiple times. Our general contractor is still fixing their mistakes….at his own expense. After they left, and unfortunately were paid IN FULL, we found out how unprofessional and unorganized they really are. When the contract was signed in January, Bob Range actually brought the wrong contract (higher price dated September 2016 not January 2017) for our general contractor to sign. The contractor’s names were similar, but the addresses were very different (Dublin vs. San Jose). The amount did not even line up with the 20 day preliminary lien notice they sent me. I contacted them in hopes that they would make things right. I was sure wrong. Below are some of the written responses I received from Bob in email after numerous requests to speak to him by phone to clear this item up: -“I am so glad we are finished and won’t ever have to return.“ -“I don’t know what the final amount ended up being and really do not care. “ -“Please leave me alone. “ -“I don’t care what you are showing me. “ -“End of story. “ Then I gave them a chance to correct their mistake before writing a review and received these comments in the email response: -“Leave us alone. “ -“Don’t send me anymore e-mails as I will delete them if you do. “ I couldn’t let it stop there because the price discrepancy was so high….I wanted an answer to why I had someone else’s contract, so I responded with the simple question of why did you have our contractor sign the wrong contract? It was only then that he decided to review his mistakes. He tried to smooth over his extremely rude responses and confirmed that we had the wrong contract….. I was trying to tell him that from the very beginning, but he had refused to look at the details. He then tried to turn the situation on us stating we did not pay him in full…..another mistake, sloppy bookkeeping because he didn’t record the final check our general contractor gave him, but his partner, Mark Newton, had signed off of receiving. He then had the audacity to say it is certainly not his fault that our general contractor signed the wrong contract. It most certainly is…..Bob is the one who gave it to him in person and Judy in the office emailed to the general contractor for his records. Do yourself a favor and find another painter who will do a quality job and appreciate your business.

They showed up on time to place primer coat on Friday. On Monday, they showed up and sprayed finish coat. They were very neat and clean.... Have used them before for the outside of the house, nearly 25 years ago. Not disappointed at all with quality of job done.

So Unique Painting & Decorating was among six exterior painting companies that provided estimates for painting our house. Bob Range, the owner of the company, examined the house, explained our options, and pointed out items that needed attention. He was very knowledgeable and left me with the impression that So Unique Painting & Decorating was an honest company that would do a good and thorough job. Although they did not get the job, I don't think you could go wrong with So Unique Painting & Decorating.

Got a quote on the spot during a meeting with Bob, a co owner. We had a need to have all the work completed by a specific date. Bob agreed to match our schedule. His crew arrived on schedule. The crew was friendly and took care to keep things clean limit paint to the house not other surfaces. The crew leader, Jose, was particularly easy to work with. He was always available to answer questions and was focused on making sure I was completely satisfied every step of the way. When it began to look as if my completion date might be missed Jose had extra people on site and the work was finished on time. I had asked that some paint be left for future touch ups. Jose readily agreed and even went out and purchased trim paint since there was little leftover when the job was complete. There was a need for some touch up after the crew left. It took 2 weeks and several calls to the office trying to get some response. Jose did come out and happily took care of each of the issues I had. One caveat you should take note of is the contract language talking about 2 coats of paint. I discussed this with Bob who led me to believe all surfaces get 2 full coats. Turns out the contract states "2 coats for coverage". They define it to say that if some area looks thin they will add more paint. Slightly different than what we discussed. To be fair some surfaces of my home did get a second coat....just not all.

They were very easy to work with, friendly, and on time. They are very knowledgeable and experienced. They completed the job on time, and brought up any additional issues that we should know about before they started the job so we could discuss what we wanted to do. The price was reasonable for the quality of work. We were so satisfied we are now going to use them for the interior of the house.

Bob came out within a couple of days of initial call to review job and was able to quote bid before leaving. He was very flexible to the start date as I was waiting for a patio door to arrive that held the painting up a bit. When the patio door came in 2 weeks earlier than expected Bob was able to adjust on the fly and begin my project within a couple of days. The total process took about 3 days, washing one day and two days of painting which I appreciated because I had other projects lined up behind it and couldn't proceed until painting was done. I also had them paint and replace shutters. One of my shutters came in damaged so they had to come back which they did once I had it replaced (about 3 weeks later). All and all they did great work and I am really enjoying the new look of my house. They are very reasonably priced and I would hesitate to hire again. My only critique is that I would have like to have seen the owner at the house a little more. I had to give instructions to their workers on items that would have been missed during the my initial conversation with the owner.

Several days prior to painting So Unique sent one of their guys to do a pressure wash. The painting was done a few days later. My wife and I completely changed the existing colors on our home to a more contemporary palette. The painters were all very professional and worked very efficiently. The job took 2 days to complete and the touch up painter returned to detail several areas that needed attention. We have received several compliments on just how good our home looks with new paint done so professionally. I highly recommend So Unique Painting for quality work at a reasonable price.

Good job. The contact person is a little hard to reach after initial visit and estimate. Took me three tries and about a week before I got a call back. Other than that, the crew was neat and professional and did a good job. I plan on using them again next year to do the other three sides of my house.

They returned all phone calls, answered all questions and responded to my concerns in a satisfactory manner. The painters arrived as scheduled and performed all work specified in our contract. Afterwards, they cleaned up completely. They were friendly and had a pleasant demeanor all the time they were at my home. I am satisfied with the finished work.

My house is a two story that had not been painted for over 10 years, The total job took 3 days. I was very impressed by everyone in the process. They were all very professional , on time , worked hard and the paint job looks great. I will hire them again sometime for the interior painting.

For the most part, the service went very well. A little better communication would be good, but we are happy with the work they did. I thought they were prompt and did an excellent job.
