Pros: Excellent advice and pricing info from Rob Rowe; he was even able to get us a discount on the door model we wanted, as well as a door handle set. Scheduling and coordination went well, too. The installation went smoothly, the technicians even painted door trim (which we supplied), even though that wasn't really required. Cons: The big disappointment, however, is that the exterior stucco FAILED to match our existing stucco! Unfortunately, we noticed this only after the new stucco had been properly painted. It's embarrassing to look at the mismatched stucco textures, at the front door of our house. We've had windows replaced before (by another company), and they managed to match the stucco style. We were quite surprised that Custom Exteriors, who markets themselves as also doing stucco work, could not deliver on that point. For that issue, we cannot recommend them, at least for installation.

I thought the price was reasonable. They were good, friendly, did the work, and I have no complaints about them. Their pricing was pretty good.

Got an estimate on window replacements and was very happy with the estimator. He was professional, punctual, and very thorough. There was no high pressure sales pitch and the price was very competitive. We ultimately went with another company but we would definitely consider these guys for future projects.

Bullet Points: Great first impression. Sales and inspection process was timely, professional and friendly. Bad last impression: No follow up, Took over two months to have have door locks repaired. Still waiting to close this transaction to have one key for all doors. I couldn't confidently recommend this company to anyone. The sales and installation process went very smooth. We experienced professional, punctual and friendly service. The doors were installed the first part of November. Around Thanksgiving, we started to experience problems with three locks of our five doors. I called and we scheduled service to inspect the locks on December 2. Someone came out to look at the locks and we were told it was a manufacturer issue annd we should have the locks fixed in 7-10 business Days. Three weeks later, I called back on 12/23 because there was no follow up on the status of our locks. No one was in the office so I left a general message. A week passed and I didn't hear back, so I called on 12/30. I spoke with someone who told me no one was in the office but I could leave a message. I did, and no one returned my call. On 1/6, I called while on vacation and spoke to Tricia who took notes on the situation and said she'd give the message to Kevin and to call back if I didn't hear back in an hour. I called two hours later and Kevin was on the phone with two other calls ahead of me. I said I'd call back. We finally connected and Kevin in Service informed me the locks should be in 1/12 or Tuesday, 1/17. He mentioined the manufacturer was closed over the holidays. I said the main reason for the concern is the lack of follow up from Custom Exterior. Finally on 2/1 after all the lock parts were in, our door locks were reapaired. We are now working with a locksmith to get the locks rekeyed so we have one key and not three. As of today 2/2 this transaction continues. I'm very disappointed

Very well--I called them because they replaced a door and several windows about 4 years ago. I was satisfied both times with them and with the quality of the products.

I got quotes from a couple different companies in the Bay Area for new windows and patio doors for my condo. Custom Exteriors was not the cheapest (nor the most expensive), but Rob, their rep was the most thorough in his explanation of the different types of windows available for me and which one would be best for my situation. The company checked in regularly with me throughout the process of measuring, ordering, and installing the windows, which I appreciated. The installation crew was a bit late getting to my place, but they were very professional and did a good job installing the windows, cleaning up, and even helping me get rid of some old ugly sliding mirrors that I had in my condo.

Unavoidable delay in getting started because of truck problem. They called me to explain.

It went really well. They were professional, showed up on time and were timely on getting back to me on questions.

I had received 6 different estimates. I decided to go with them because they seemed the most qualified. Their licensing is all in place and were rated on the California License board. They have excellent records regarding their business practices. They provided excellent service and were fairly priced.

Overall, the house looks great but it was a rocky road getting there. A job that should have taken 10 days was dragged out for months. Yes - there was a lead time for the front door but the portico should have been finished in a timely manner. Jose, the foreman, showed up four days late, did demo and didn't show up for the rest of the week. John Banke (company contractor) explained that he was needed on another job. So the work started again.... Jose works his own schedule and shows up when it suits him. Calls to John were not fruitful in that he was either sick or on vacation. I had to call the owner. Every time there was a technical problem, Jose looked me to solve them. I hired a general contractor for the express purpose to oversee my job and solve these issues. If you have expectations of a company showing up when they say they will, this is not the company for you. If you want to have to hound the forman to do proper finishes and then have him call John to complain of my many "changes", then this is the company for you. Like I said - the house looks great but there was a great deal of aggravation to get there.

Later I will look into adding another floor. I'm still shopping around. They seemed professional and friendly. They may have a lot of work on their hands because their responsiveness is a little slow.

The windows look very nice. I had a couple of issues with window screens and I’m still not done with them. They are in the process of replacing those screens. They are supposed to come in next week. They came when they said they were going to come and did what they said they were going to do. My only disappointment was that they told me to remove things from the windows from the inside of the house, but they said nothing about the shrubbery outside and my shrubbery got trampled. I’m happy with the windows. I would tell people to take their time in making a decision on what company they want to use and when they select a company to make sure that they ask all the relevant questions concerning licensing and insurance coverage and also ask for really specific instruction on how to prepare their home before they come. Their price was average with the companies that I compared them with. The quality of the windows was excellent. I would use them again in the future if need be.

After calling Custom Exteriors, a salesman promptly came out for an evening appointment to look over our situation and make recommendations. After getting a quote and talking with a couple of other companies, I visited their showroom to try out the Integrity windows. (The company's only downside for me is the long trip to the Pleasanton showroom.) Within the next couple of days, we decided to go with Custom Exteriors and signed a contract. The windows arrived from the factory about a week earlier than expected, and installation started the following week. The team of 3 installers was highly competent and professional and they completed the job in 3 days. This was one day ahead of schedule because we decided to deal with the interior trim ourselves, to match the somewhat uncommon door casings. In the end, we are extremely happy with the look and operation of the windows, and with Custom Exteriors' installation.

We called for an estimate and someone came out within a week to measure the windows and give us an estimate. He returned about 10 days later to confirm the measurements and finalize the estimate. About a week later Jeff, one of the co-owners, came to re-confirm the measurements and make the change order when we decided to have tempered glass in the dining room and changed from single-hung to sliders in the dining room. All this was completed by the end of August. Our windows arrived and were installed on Sept. 19, 2011. The work took about 4 hours to complete and the two-man crew was very professional and competent. They even cleaned up after themselves (swept & vacuumed). In all, it was a very pleasant experience and we are very pleased with the service and the windows.

They were fantastic! Their installation people handled everything beautifully and cleaned up really well afterwards. I live in a retirement community, and the sales person worked extremely well with the HOA to get approval.

My experience with them was quite good in terms of the quality and professionalism of their work. Once we had a scheduled time they were quite prompt and came when they said they would. The issue with them is that they are a little on the pricey side. In all fairness they are a very large company and my jobs would be small to them so they might be a factor. I would use them again if I couldn't find anybody equally as good.

It was a good experience. The workers were very professional and very nice. They were very fast. The best thing was they did exactly what they said they were going to do in the amount of time they said. I really liked them. They were not cheap but they were good. They were great. That was all they did and all they talked about. They were very professional. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Called twice and requested info on replacing front and back entry doors. I was told I would have a call back "right after the meeting". This was three weeks ago and I am still waiting for a call-back. :(

The sales rep. came to give us an estimate for the new windows. Measurements were made. Installation was done in about two weeks. It took the workers about 4-5 hours to complete the installation. We were very pleased with the outcome. The windows look beautiful. It was a very pleasant experience working with Custom Exteriors. We highly recommend them. Thank You Custom Exteriors.

Quality is excellent, and I appreciated their hard work on the price. The quote came in a little high--so much that I needed to think about delaying such replacement. They then went to the manufacturer who agreed to lower the price of the materials and, therefore, my quote came down by about $2,000. Very responsive to phone calls and on-time; good clean-up afterwards. My only minor complaint: they didn't make clear that, because one window was on order, that there would be 2 installation dates. Thus, I had to rearrange my schedule for 3--rather than 2 (the first installation) days.

I was really disappointed by the large disconnect between the sales force and the people that did the work. The sales force was professional and seemed to know what they were doing. With previous jobs I've had done you could work out problems and details with the job superintendent, but with this job superintendent I was unable to. I was not able to work out the problems and details with this firm. They would end up doing stuff and it would get shifted back to the company guys who would then determine the cost of the change order. The price was usually very unreasonable. So, we had to argue about whether or not I approved the change order. Normally, you approve the cost of the change order ahead of time and then you complete the work. This was exactly the opposite. In this case they wold just do the work and then a few days later I would get the cost for it. And, that is normally fine if the cost is reasonable but these were crazy high. One example is when they installed a new door in my garage. I knew from past experiences with the building department that they would require an exterior light to go with the door. I kept asked them if they had an electrician that is going to put this in. They said initially they didn't have anybody, but when they showed up they said they could have one of their guys do it. So, one of their guys did it and he didn't do it right. He tapped into an existing 20 amp circuit and he used the wrong gauge wire. So, I had to hire another local electrician to come in and fix it after being charged a lot of money for work that was not done to code. I'm trying to get another company to come out to finish out the trim work on the windows and the doors. The windows are nice fiberglass windows but someone ordered them with jam extensions that are the wrong size. So, the windows were put in and now it's going to be difficult to finish the installation because the jamming extensions don't match the stucco on the inside of the house. I eventually just gave up arguing with them about that. It's been a bad experience all the way around.

We had just had a roof and until we recuperate from that expenditure we are not going to do anything for a while on the windows. They were very professional. We liked them very much. When we do the windows and the stucco, the job will probably go to them. They didn't charge us anything to do the estimate. Other than their price, their professionalism, and their credibility assuming everything was equal, what I liked about them is that they have a showroom right near where we live and the tons of business that they have done in our town. We have had a couple of rip off artistes regarding the roof. It was important to us to see a business they had. We could go in and touch and feel and see the products that we were interested in. With other estimates you are looking at drawings and pictures. If they had been highly priced or unprofessional, none of that would have made a difference. They got back pretty fast to me, but they weren't as fast as some of the others.

Overall, we were satisfied and felt we had good customer service. There were a few hiccups along the way, primarily: - Estimator made a calculation error which made the bid lower by about $1000, corrected it after we'd chosen them but before we signed the contract. -Description of the way the new construction windows would be framed on the outside turned out not to be possible, and at one point we were in the middle of the job and it looked like we might have to greatly increase the scope (and price) of the project to include stucco work. Fortunately, their installer had a creative solution that worked out for us. - Have called once or twice since with questions related to the warranty and the tax credit and received excellent service.

Learned about Custom Exteriors on Angie's List, then attended a home & garden expo to meet the company and learn about their services/products. From the first encounter, I found the company and its employees to be warm, informative, efficient, and responsive. From start to finish, outstanding customer service, plus solid product line offerings. This project involved coordination of 3 service vendors working interdependently, because our living room's patio door leads to a deck over our garage, the roof of which needed to be replaced during the same time as the patio door was replaced. Custom Exteriors amiably accommodated my roofer's changing schedule and their installation team helped the roofers troubleshoot and repair some issues with the flashing that went underneath the trim of the patio door. They did all this on the same day they also installed the new interior door to the garage. The results look great, and I can sleep a little easier knowing we have improved our home's safety and security.

They did a great job. They answered all my questions about the different types of services and products. The workers did a fantastic job putting in the windows and the trim. They cleaned up after themselves and went the extra mile to do an excellent job. I felt like they did an excellent job and all for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend them to others.
