Greg's Portable Welding

Greg and Matt went above and beyond to get wrought iron rails designed and installed in order to create much needed handicap access from our house to our back deck. Even though they were booked, they came over each day and worked until dark and worked on the weekend to get it done for us. The price was very competitive and I can't thank these guys enough for their kindness and consideration all the while working so hard to get it done for us.

Update: He did give us a quote, but he did not inform us that he will be busy for three weeks. So from August 3oth until this point, there has been no response from him, except for the rebutt he placed on our review. Greg came out to look at our gate and motor. Although he gave a verbal quote on the gate repair, he was going to do futher research on the gate motor and provide an estimate. We contacted him several days later and his response was that he forgot and will be contacting us later in the week. It has been 2 weeks without a response from Greg. He had selected him as the vendor based on the A ratings. Unfortunately, We are sadden by the unprofessionalism.

He arrived on time, was professional and the price was exactly what he quoted. I will use his company again for any of my welding needs and highly recommend this service for their promptness, professionalism and dependability for a job well done. Thank you Greg's Portable Welding!

I needed some work done on my fence. The problems started when I asked Greg to send me a copy of his welder's license as well as proof of insurance as requested by my HOA. Greg took a terrible picture of his license and an insurance statement (not certificate like I asked for). He texted me the pictures of both which were blurry, the expiration date cut off on both AND so blurry they were impossible to read. I asked him to resend the picture of his welder's license , which he did. i then asked him to email me the insurance cert or to bring a copy with him but to also send me a picture of it. Things went downhill when he didn't send me anything. He was supposed to come this morning to start the work but I texted him in the morning telling him that he could not get started on the job until I had the insurance certificate. His reponse? "***" then he copied and pasted the message I had sent him asking him to bring a copy with him. He conveniently left out the other messages where I also asked him to send me a picture of proof before he arrived. After I told him he couldn't start any work until I had that documentation, he texted me again telling me that he was not going to play my games and that he would pull over to take a picture of it. At this point, seeing how unprofessional he was (I mean who says "***" to a client or accuses someone of playing games?) I told him not to bother, I wasn't going to hire him. His reponse? "Thank God, you weirdo" he then threatened to send me a bill for wasting his time driving out to my location. Funny, because I never gave him my address, so where the **** did he drive to? This is by far the most unprofessional and nasty person I have ever dealt with in this capacity. He is also quite sketchy with a torn up license and no insurance proof. Who works like that? I cannot understand how he can have an A rating. This was my first time using Angie's List and will probably be my last time.

It took Greg about 4 or 5 hours to complete the repair. He was very straight forward and showed up on time and said what he was going to do and did it.

I chose Greg because he did a fine job for me for the same issue a couple years ago. The gate gets out of alignment due to earth settling and Greg has provided the adjustment with excellent results. I plan to use him again!

I called Greg because after having a new wood privacy fence in my backyard between property lines, I then noticed that the fence could not swing open anymore because of the added fence. I was looking at having a new wood driveway fence built, but looking at prices of well over $1000.00 I decided to call Gregg to see if he can weld new hinges for the gate and cut it to fit the new opening dimensions. Well, after less than one hour the gate was installed with new hinges and cut to fit. Gregg did a greta job, and I did want to keep the gate to match the fence on the front yard. Great job Gregg!!!

Had trouble finding a welder to come out and even look at my corroded gate. I found Greg on Angie's list and emailed him a picture of the gate and asked if he could fix it. He emailed back that he could, gave me a price, and said what day he could come. I agreed and the rest was easy. He did a very professional job for a fair price. I would highly recommend him and will of course use him again if I have any welding work needed.

Greg came, said he could fix them, and gave us an estimate. He returned the same afternoon and finished the job.He removed the old hinges, bought new ones, and then welded them on. The gate, which didn't work at all before, now works perfectly.

Very rarely are you fortunate enough to meet an individual who is as honest, hardworking, courteous, and professional as Greg. I felt compelled to write this review tonight as he is still outside working on my railing after 12 plus hours. Incredible work ethic - well, yes! Greg will not leave until the job is complete, and entirely safe for me to use the area. His assistant Mark is also very professional, and worked diligently during the process, as well. The work is excellent and beyond my expectations. All areas where work was performed cleaned, and great care taken not to damage any of the surrounding deck landing. I asked Greg to prime the area for my husband to paint this weekend, something which he normally does not perform. He did not hesitate to accommodate my request, purchased all the extra materials to prime the extensive work performed, and drove quite a distance in rush hour traffic so that the job could be completed in one day! I wholeheartedly recommend Greg for any job, but especially if it involves a staircase and intricate ironwork. His estimate was incredibly reasonable, his workmanship and dedication to completing the job correctly and safely is remarkable. One of the best companies and individuals I've had the pleasure of working in Los Angeles!!

Greg came over at the appointed time to give us a repair estimate on our side gate. It has taken a beating for years with our rottweiler jumping on it every time someone goes past the house. She actually wore a hole through the metal. Greg and his crew (ladies) worked on the gate, removing and replacing the metal screen. It took at least 3-4 hours to do so. They cleaned up and hauled away the old debris and also adjusted the lock hole to work with outside elements. (Expanding in heat and shrinkage in cold). He also gave us 5% discount from Angie's List!! Worth every cent.

I saw Greg's listing on here one morning at 9am, called him at 10am, he came out at 12:30pm and was done w/the job at 1:45pm. If that's not portable, instant service I don't know what is. I did call 2 other places and one quoted me $550 for the job and another $250. I knew this was a simple job so I figured those prices were too high. As far as Greg and his work, he is a really nice guy and took all my comments about how I needed it reinforced very professionally. He added a gusset on each post which I really appreciated. I feel Greg is going to be my "welder guy" from now on.

One of my driveway gates had settled and no longer latched with the other side. I saw Greg's Portable Welding on Angie's List and left him a message. Greg returned my call, he said he was in my area and would stop by. He evaluated the job and said it would be a simple fix. He removed the gate part which comes into contact with the latch and rewelded it in a new correct spot. The gates now latch together easily. He was finished within 30 minutes. He brought all the necessary equipment, was polite and courteous, and generous with his Angie's List discount. Greg knows what he's doing, work fast and cleans up after himself. I would use his services again.

Greg returned my call the same day. Came by the following, told me he'd just charge his minimum which was $150. It was fine for what I needed and how quickly he could fix it. Highly recommend.

The swing gate across the driveway has an "Elite Miracle One" electric motor operator. A weld was busted when someone repeatedly tried to open the gate with the motor while it was latched & locked closed. The gate was also gradually sagging after the neighboring lot was excavated up to the property line for construction of a new SFR with basement. I wanted to address that issue too before the bottom edge of the gate eventually hit the pavement. I could not get in touch with a guy who's done similar work for me in the past, and found Greg on Angie's List. The job required cutting about a half-dozen pieces with a torch, straightening the post and then about eight new welds. Greg, and his assistant, came out the next day with all the necessary tools and equipment. Greg quoted $250 and did the job in about 2--2 1/2 hours. I think the price was very reasonable and I could not be more pleased with his work. I'd grade Greg A++ and highly recommend him.

He did a very good job on the iron, matched the specifications exactly and he was very flexible and accommodating when it came to installation. I would recommend him anytime.

Called Greg after reviewing on Angie's List and seeing he was less than 10 miles away. He came within 45 minutes after our conversation and told me he could do the repairs right away. He really is a 'portable welder' because he had all the equipment in his van. He was pleasant and professional. I was happy with the results and will use him again for any future welding needs.

Greg was fantastic! He was able to retrofit my garage's forty year old gate door with custom brackets and pins to make it operate once again. We are so dependent on the garage working, that it was quite a joy when he was able to come out and spend his evening fixing the garage, even in the middle of an electrical storm with heavy rain. he had to grind off existing rusty parts, retrofit the gate with custom fabricated parts, weld those and other parts he had on the gate to reinforce the existing steel, and test to make sure the brackets could hold the gate's immense weight. He did a great job, is hard working, honest and will not stop until the job is done right. The entire building greatly appreciates his help. If you are looking for someone to fix a gate or old garage gate, I would give hims call.
