VAN'S PAVING & GRADING

Description of Work: Van's Paving resurfaced our private street (chip and seal) and also installed an asphalt driveway (we'd previously had c&s there as well). They did an excellent job on the street, and the driveway looked okay, but even the owner wasn't happy with the way the driveway turned out so he came back and resurfaced it at no charge. We are very happy overall with the work--so why the bad grad for responsiveness? It's because we went to some trouble to approach our other neighbors on the private road ahead of time, so that they could get their sections done at the same time (for a cheaper cost if done all at once). They wanted to do their section, and Van's was supposed to give us about a week's notice for their start date. They didn't (called the afternoon before, and I couldn't get ahold of the neighbors) so the neighbors completely missed out on getting the better price. They've since called several times, and have not been able to get a call back from Van's. The winter is really taking a toll on the sections of street that were not repaired, so it would have been much better if Van's had followed through with the advanced notice--and he would have gotten a lot more work out of it, too, which is the most puzzling part.
