While I did end up (finally) with a very nice fence, it was the project management that was the problem. After looking at five different fence companies, River City Fence was selected as the best price. This price appears to be at the cost of a project manager. The crew came late and left early daily. Due to the lack of English speaking skills at the site,directions that I had to give as there was no project manager that knew what was really estimated, continual errors (boards on wrong side of fence, broken concrete instead of decorative rock was thrown in between retaining walls, gate latch problems, holes in privacy fence boards, split 2x4s used, uneven fence cuts, boards the wrong size installed, Etc.). While there was a week lull in the project to install a drainage pipe, it took 6 weeks to get the work done. I also had to remind them to clean up after they left, leaving wood debris, latches, and my hose left out, paper cup left from their lunch. The problem was project management and quality control of the materials used. Due to this I would not rehire.

The service turned out well. A couple people came out for the service. They showed up when they said they would and stayed until the job was finished. Scheduling was fairly easy.

It went very smoothly.

We used them to install a rear fence line. They installed one half of the fence and when they returned to finish the job, we had to have them to repair what they had previously installed. They provided shotty workmanship, they could not even cut a board straight. The foreman frequently left the job site and left his employees alone at the site. I was very uncomfortable with this action due to none of the workers spoke any English. There would not have been a way to communicate with them if something had gone wrong. The price was the only thing they had going for them related to the significant amount of work they performed. They installed about 119 ft of fencing. Their punctuality was poor due to one day they did not arrive until noon, I would not use this service again.

We would call them again.

The company was hard to communicate with. We were always playing phone tag (which is of course partly my fault as well). After all of the questions had finally been answered, the contractor we were communicating with assumed there was still a problem. He did not call to confirm the start date or call to double check, and instead just didn't show up on the scheduled day. When they were there, they were on time but there was one day at the start when we were told they'd show up around noon and they never came at all. What should have been a two to three day project took about five days not including the days delayed by rain. They did not hang our gate correctly and mounted our latch incorrectly such that it doesn't close as it should. There are gaps between the boards (it's tongue and groove so there should be zero space), and we ourselves are going to have to pull boards, pound them in place, and fix the fence. And, they messed with our circuit breaker box when the tried to tie too much equipment into one outlet and as a result our air conditioning wasn't working right for a month. Once we discovered this problem it was an easy fixed but it shouldn't have been messed with in the first place. It took us weeks and weeks to find a contractor who would even touch the kind of fence we wanted and the price was fantastic! $3500 under the first four quotes. Well, you get what you pay for. I'm never using these guys again.

THey did a good job. I had no problems with them. They replaced a very small section of fence and a gate on the other side of the house. It was just a small project, but they did a good job. They gave me an estimate. They completed the job according to the estimate. It was just a great experience.

They answered promptly and the work that they did was perfectly satisfactory.

This was the second fence I had River City replace. Their estimate was lower than several other estimates I received, and the work performed both times was excellent. The workers showed up on time and worked steadily and efficiently. No extra costs or add-ons - I was charged the amount of the estimate and that's all. Good attention to detail - the fence looks great.

They are very prompt and efficient. They did exactly what I asked and I am very pleased with the result.

The estimator arrived exactly on time. We received the estimate by mail two days later. They gave us the option of redwood fencing or wrought iron fencing on the street side. They quoted $2997; they billed $2997. Ramone and Alonzo were great! Their work was meticulously done, looks better even than the first job the company did for us four years ago. They cleaned up completely! Both workers were exceptionally polite, and made sure they understood how we wanted things done every time they had to make a decision. We could not be more satisfied.
