+ -1 moreIt went amazingly well. Sam, Beric, and Geric(no, they're not related. LOL) showed up on time, proceeded to get the facts of the job from me during a walk through of the job and wasted no time in getting my old equipment and ducts out and replacing them in the allotted time frame of two days. They also have a sub-contractor who comes and removes all of their trash for them for free in return for the recoverables, such as parts from the HVAC equipment and refrigerants in the AC coil and condenser. Jason, the spvsr. came by mid-day the first day to check on how things were progressing. We talked about doing a future solar electric panel addition as a solution to my energy needs. I would highly recommend using PES for your HVAC and Solar energy needs.
Description of Work: I needed to have a 20 year old HVAC system replaced. I submitted an RFQ and received 3 quotes from Gilmore, Alpine, and PES. While PES(Phoenix Energy Solutions) wasn't the lowest cost bidder, they were the ones who really took the time to understand my needs and provide the equipment I wanted, not what the others wanted to push on me because of discounts they receive from manufacturers to push their product line. PES is also a P. G. & E. certified contractor and is able to provide the rebates that P. G. & E. offer with select systems that meet their Energy Star criteria. That was a big plus in their favor as I am a P. G. & E. customer as they are the only energy vendor in my area available. The fact that they were willing to use any brand of equipment that I wanted to install was also a big plus in their favor and really pushed me to pick them as my contractor.

+ -1 moreExcellent! I asked the technician if I could tag along while he did his inspection and he said certainly. He went through all the checks he was performing, usual problems encountered, acceptable limits, etc. It was a real education. The technician spent over an hour going through the unit and then provided me with report that summarized all the findings. I bought the Residential Energy Saving Tune-up Agreement for $138 for two service appointments to inspect the furnace and AC systems. No pressure to buy a monthly service plan that most other companies push. The only problem was that the technician was late due to a problems with a prior service call and wrong address. Professional, respectful and competent service!!!

We described what we were looking for and they suggested a number of options for our consideration. they were very knowledgable about existing rebate programs and available tax credits. Once we selected our preferred option, they committed to a schedule and completed the project on time and for the agreed upon price. Prior to final payment, we identified a few items that needed to be addressed and without hesitation, they proceeded to address them.

But, they didn't try to do that. they just went in and said, "Oh, you need this, but otherwise it's okay. There's nothing wrong with it, why would you change it." That's the kind of people you want to deal with. Because then when it is time to change it, you know they're telling me the truth.

We tried three or four HVAC companies and they're the only ones I trust. They were excellent. It's "A" all the way down the line, the people, price, that you can count on them. I've used them for like three or four times.

+ -1 moreIt went fine. They came out right after I purchased it. It was just the tuneup, I don't think we needed any refrigerant. They also recommended work that needed to be done, I just haven't got it done yet. Their service was great. The only problem I had was the purchase experience on Angie's List. They didn't get the coupon or whatever notification they get from Angie's List that showed that I purchased it. Because they couldn't find it, they made me feel like they were doing me a favor. So, I wasn't happy with that. Setting the whole thing up was very frustrating, but as far as the service, it was fine. They were pretty good, they were thorough, it was great service. They didn't try to over sell me or anything like that, it was great service. I just didn't like the setup, that made a big difference. If I hadn't already paid for it, I probably would have canceled it. This was the first time I used them. I've used this other group that was on Angie's List, I've used them several times. They weren't offering the same coupon at that time. So that's the only reason I didn't use them. But, I've never had a problem with them. As soon as I purchased it, they called me. This one, I had to call them and then it was just a big hassle after that.
Description of Work: I purchased a big deal from them. It was $87 for A/C tuneup with one pound of refrigerant.

+ -1 moreVery misleading Angie's List deal posted by Phoenix Energy Solutions Inc. This provider not only arrived late to the appointment but was in a rush, first thing he did once he arrived late was to ask to go to the restroom!!!. I'm shocked Angie's List is allowing this type of misleading providers to post deals with other hidden services that need to be purchased in order to get the deal!! that is very dishonest.. The deal has a long list of stuff to do, but he was in a hurry to go to next appointment and was going to leave all the leaves and debris inside the AC unit. Only when I told him about it , he used my hose to remove some of the debris.. According to him, he could not put the refrigerant listed on the deal to recharge my unit because according to him my unit was too old, and needed thousands in repairs or other option was to purchase a new unit that costs thousands, before he left, he gave me a brochure to buy another unit that is not even for AC!!! This is a deal scam, used to sell other services and products! My unit was still working the same way after he left!! Very deceiving service, where nothing gets fixed, but instead is used to sell products.. Since unit was not working properly, days later I contacted a different AC company and connections were fixed, and now AC is working!!! and unit was recharged!!!!

+ -1 moreThe thing that impressed me about him, we had just moved there in 2011 and the heating and air conditioning system that we have in there is old. So, it's not brand new, it's probably at least 10 years old or something like that. I was fully expecting him to say, "Oh you need a whole new system." But he went in there and he was checking everything out and then he said, "Well, typically it's actually working really good." He left basically saying, "It's kind of an older unit, it's not a spring chicken basically, but it's actually in good shape." He didn't charge us any extra or anything.
Description of Work: The first time we used him, he only checked the heating because we were going into winter.

+ -1 moreBad. I have an old AC unit. I requested a routine service including recharge of freon. The technician inspected the unit, applied a power gauge to read amp drawn by fan motor. He determined that it was above the rating. Promptly declared that the compressor is shot and needs to be replaced. Offered to set up a sales call. I followed up and asked for a service report - was told that the only service performed was to determine age of compressor check amperage and determine that this was a sales opportunity. To think that they actually charged for this service! Strongly recommend caution in using this service provider - sales seems to be primary goal.

We contacted a bunch of HVAC contractors and ultimately decided on Phoenix Energy because of Micah. He was real straightforward and gave us a quote on the spot. WHAT A GOOD DECISION. Micah was able to work with our budget and our time frame for install, and contacted prior to confrim. We liked that. Day of install, Jason showed up super nice and accommodating. He was able to get the majority the install done early in the day. He was very respectful of my working while the install was going on and super communicative. A great representative of the company and general all around nice guy. These things alone would have been enough to merit 5 stars, however later on in the afternoon as they were finishing up and me and my wife were going outside to inspect, Micah mentioned almost nonchalantly, that they discontinued the model we selected so he upgraded us the newest, best model on the market free of charge. These guys are great, fair and really look out for the customer's interest. Thanks guys. You've gained a customer for life.
