They were friendly and told me that they would have a service personnel out to my house quickly. Mr.Allen Suetos (technician)arrived at 3:30 pm. and did his magic. He had our system up and running in 2 hours time. The temperature outside was 105. A Miracle!! I would recommend him again to anyone seeking good and honest service.

I called Gilmore for assistance and they promptly sent Ryan E. and John. Ryan meticulously troubleshot and found the problems, repaired them and educated me on the workings of the system and causes of the trouble. He was professional, knowledgeable and answered all of my questions.
Description of Work: About 2 weeks after a new HVAC install by Gilmore Heating, Air and Solar, an electrical problem developed (overheating wire in main elect panel) and high electrical usage were noticed by me.

Derek C. was friendly and professional. He quickly diagnosed and explained the problem, and had cool air flowing again inside of an hour. He also gave me some good information on additional maintenance that might be needed soon. I was impressed, and signed up for Gilmore's Service Club. It took 1 month to get a service person out, however this was the soonest I could get service from any AC business-all were in heavy demand due to the 105+ temps causing problems with the AC systems. When the service person did arrive he was on time, and helpful. He discovered the service panel was on wrong which may have caused the problem, and installed it correctly. I signed up for their service plan which reduced the cost of the visit from $78, to $55.50.

Unfortunately, our problem is a high priced situation so Derek advised we go through our Home Warranty for the fix. However, he did offer to do a short term fix to give us some cool air until our Home Warranty company sends someone out to fix the problem. He explained the situation in detail, gave us our short term fix option, and recommended Gilmore's yearly maintenance plan which we can use after our Home Warranty company fixes the problem - to confirm the system is working at its optimal level.
Description of Work: We just moved into our house a month ago. Now that we have hit the high 90's, we discovered our air conditioner isn't working. Derek came out on Sunday to help us cool down. He had worked a long day on Saturday and was tired, but you wouldn't have known it. He was very friendly and most importantly, thorough.

We selected the item that needed the most attention and replaced it. We also signed up for the Gilmore Club, which gives us 2 calls per year, and discounts and credits which seemed very reasonable as our unit is older.
Description of Work: We had the annual check on our air conditioning and Allen explained, with pictures of our unit, how our unit was functioning. At the end he listed a couple of things that should be fixed and also a couple to watch. Excellent presentation with no pressure to buy, just options. I

They were courteous, professional and all of that; but they are very focused on sales. Their prices are just astronomical. The estimate was insanely high. They know what they are doing. They have good quality stuff.

It went very well. I felt that the sales representative was upfront and honest in laying out our options. The installation team did their work on time, and left no mess. The county inspector that showed up later to take a look was impressed at the thoroughness of installation.

What was installed: 1. Two stage, variable speed, RUUD, 80% efficient furnace. 2. Two stage, RUUD, SEER 17 A/C with non-RUUD condenser. 3. Honeywell 8000 WiFi thermostat. 4. Additional 14x14 air return in the casita suite. 5. New 20x30 air return filter holder. 6. Six new 3-way registers. We received a 10-year warranty on all components (lifetime on heat exchanger), and 10-year on labor. This differed among companies we talked with. The old system was 2-zone (1: bedrooms, den, work area, 2: living/dining, kitchen, nook, laundry). New system was 1-zone. The install went well, but with one glitch. Two workers arrived Monday at 9:00 am. They put down protective cloth over our hardwood floors, removed the old system, installed the new system, taped the register outputs. By 8:00 pm, they had completed the install and showed us that everything worked. But all testing control was done from the furnace unit located in the attic, and not from the wall thermostat. (It was late and the guys wanted to go home. We understand.) Early the next morning (Tuesday), the new system was turned on at the thermostat and the furnace failed to start. Gilmore was called at 9:00 am, and a Gilmore technician arrived at 1:00 pm. By 2:00 pm, the units (furnace and A/C) were working, and the cause found to be a blown fuse from a crossed (shorted) wire. We understand that after almost 11 hours working on our system during the previous day's install, mistakes or testing shortcuts could happen. We just wished the installers came back refreshed the next morning and thoroughly tested everything from the thermostat. We ordered (Honeywell 8000 WiFi), but they didn't have one on the truck and installed a Honeywell 6000. On Friday, when this was corrected, the install was complete. One surprise about this system was the size of a SEER 17 dual-stage A/C unit. It's huge. But, it will be much more efficient than the antique they replaced. We had 4 other companies (from Angie's List) give us bids (all with different alternatives) before Gilmore, so we knew what we wanted and how much we should pay. We investigated Trane and RUUD on consumer websites. Ryan, the Gilmore sales guy was thorough and spent 2-hours describing the alternatives, negotiating the price, writing the order and scheduling the install. All Gilmore employees were very professional. The installers and final technician answered all of our questions. Despite the initial glitch, we would strongly recommend Gilmore. Update 1: 3 weeks later, a subcontractor scheduled a pressure test and that easily passed. We are waiting for the city inspector to approve the install. Update 2: In mid-December, The Honeywell 8000 WiFi thermostat started to go blank at night. When the unit was wiggled, a red light appeared on the bottom right and it showed it was resetting. Pushing "System" and "Done" restarted things and all was normal. The second time this occurred, December 23rd, we called Gilmore at 8:00 am. A service person was here two hours later and within one and one-half hours the thermostat was replaced and all was working. Quick, efficient service.

Very good responsiveness (2 day wait) during heat wave. Technician installed Hard Start Kit (essentially a capacitor for just the compressor giving it a greater kick to start) and it worked. My only complaint was the cost of the HS Kit. It was $294 and installed as part of the diagnosis process that I paid for. Online the part is $12. I put no on "would hire again" question, but in truth it would depend on cost. I will be sure to do more research before authorizing repairs.
