I ordered this door on Feb 23 and was told 6-8 weeks. Ok, fine, I can live with that. It was actually installed on May 20, some 12 weeks later. I was trying to work with Robert about also ordering up a back door for my house. He was going to check on some things and get back to me. I hadn't heard from him for a while so I contacted him. I asked him if my front door had in fact been ordered yet from the manufacturer. He said I assume so or I think so or something to that effect. He said he would call Vanessa who does the ordering and make sure it had been ordered and he'd get back to me. Never heard back. So I called again and asked if it had been ordered, once again he says I think so, I will call and find out and let you know. Never heard back again. This happened several times so I finally called the store and talked to Gary. He said he would find out and call me back. He called back and said it was ordered and implied that it would probably be another couple weeks because they had some problems. He said Robert probably didn't know they were having problems and I said at least he could have called me back and tell me anything, something, not just ignore me. So anyway the installers finally show up to install the door. Turns out, what I had ordered and paid for was NOT what Robert had ordered. The door that was ordered was not the correct thickness for the size opening my house had and no molding was ordered. The were getting ready to install the door and butt it up against the existing molding, the old rotted wood with screw holes from my screen door and chipping paint. Now that would have looked real great! Luckily I caught them just in time to stop the process and we compared notes as to what exactly was suppose to happen. That's when we discovered the difference in their work order and what I had ordered. So the guys agreed to put new molding up but they would have to improvise due to the thickness of the door. When I got home from work that night and saw the final product, I was not happy at all. The door is fine, looks good, except the moldings. The two side moldings where they meet the top molding at a 45 degree angle is a mismatch. Meaning, the cut is fine but the top molding is higher than the side moldings and they just filled the gap with putty or sealer or something. I called them back the next morning and they all were apologetic and said they would send them back out and make it better. They seemed sincere. Next day, Eric and Jason came back to redo the molding and his words to me were, "I'll make it perfect for you". Well when I got home that night, I realized his idea of "perfect" is way different than mine. Next day I called Mike the field supervisor and asked him if that's the best they can do because I'm still not happy with the final look. It's not they type of look I think a $4000 door should have. Mike told me he'd check with Eric and see if something more can be done and maybe a different molding would help. That was almost 2 weeks ago and haven't heard a word from them since. If that's the best they can do, at least let me know. Don't just blow me off.

This was a very easy, pleasant experience. The salesman, installers and telephone scheduler at Hardy Windows were all very professional and helpful, and friendly. Everything was done as promised, with only one problem. The bathroom windows did not fit (they were measured incorrectly) The installation foreman explained the problem, and had the correct windows ordered that same day. They arrived as promised 2 weeks later, and were installed without any further problems. It's great to have such good service.

Tony from 'Hardy Windows' came out to measure windows and doors. He was very professional, personable and easy to work with. Answered all my questions, and provided requested informational materials. Work was done quickly, professionally, and crew cleaned and carted away old doors and windows. After a couple of months, after the rainy season, I noticed some leakage around exterrier of 2 windows. Called Tony. He sent his workers to come out to look at windows. They said that it looked like caulking was not cured enough before rains started. They resealed leaky windows, and so far looks ok.

We had windows installed recently by them a couple of weeks ago. I always work with Casey Hardy and so I have gone through Casey with other jobs. His company merged with Hardy Windows. So this would be my sixth time we went through them. Their pricing is always reasonable. He is very professional. When he makes an appointment he is on time. They are very professional. They are the ones that I can trust, whom I would hire over and over again. I used them less than two weeks ago, may be on February 1st. They did an install on January 30th and January 31st, and then they came back. They did a good job.

The showroom was great and the service I received was very responsive. Someone visited me at my home to collect measurements and confirm the selection of the door. I was happy with the door I selected and it was delivered to me in just a few weeks. The delivery matched the one I selected, the installers were on time, and the process went very smoothly. The replacement included a new doorframe, threshold and decorative molding to match. The fit is much better than the door that was installed when the house was built. The installers took care to ensure that the job was done right and they were professional. Now there are no gaps where air and light can seep through.

The salesman Robert was very patient with me as I was going through the process over a couple months. I compared a few companies and quotes and I was most comfortable with the brand of windows with the features that I wanted that Hardy Windows showed me. The showroom was awesome and it let me test out the windows and compare to other manufacturers. Once I decided on the window, Robert and I worked out a price and then once that was done, he came out and measured the openings. He was on time for the appointment and that means a lot to me. We signed contracts and the order was submited and then the office called a couple days later and confirmed all info. They said they would call back to schedule an installation day that best suit my schedule which they did. The crew showed up on time and completed when they said they would. They were very professional from the time I was there watching them work. Once it was completed, the walk through was a litttle fast but I have never been through this and maybe that was normal. Once I realized that I was going to have to sign off as being OK I looked over it a little more thorough. The installer was very patient and professional during that time. The only complaint I might have is that some of the windows weren't as clean as I would have liked to have seen. I am noticing occassionally some dried caulking in the window channels and on the windows that I have cleaned up. Other than that, all the molding and caulking lines look pretty clean and straight. Overall experience would make me recommend them to someone.

We first saw Hardy Window Company at a Home Show in Orange County and later when we decided to replace the windows and doors in the kitchen and family room, we went looking at replacement windows. We went to the Hardy Window Company show room and worked with Dirk Huffman on selection of brand of windows and decided that we liked the Simonton brand that he showed us. Dirk came to our home and took measurements and gave us a quote for 2 windows and 2 doors. We wanted the doors and windows to be white on the inside and bronze color on the outside. The bronze color adds to the cost of the product but we did not want white on the exterior. Dirk worked with us on the price and we agreed to have the work done while he was at our home. He came back a second time to double check his measurements. Everything was installed in one day. There were no issues with the installation. The windows and doors fit the space exactly. The three installers were very knowledgeable, polite, and did a very good job. They put down drop cloths and plastic sheeting inside the house. They left no trash or debris and swept up the patios. The windows and doors are very good quality with low e glass, double pane, with argon gas. The doors and windows slide very smoothly and are a big improvement over the old aluminum frame windows and doors that we had. The only issue found was that we had expected that the screen doors would be white on the inner side and bronze on the exterior. The doors are bronze on both sides. We brought this to the installer's attention and they worked with Dirk about this matter. We found out that Simonton does not sell screen doors that are white on one side and a different color on the other. Hardy Windows offered to replace these screen doors with screen doors from a different manufacturer. We next wanted to see a color sample in order to see if the other manufacturer's bronze color would be a good match. We were told that Dirk would be out next week with a color sample and we would then decide if we wanted to keep these screen doors or have Hardy Window Co get the other doors for us. I also wanted to make sure that the metal part of the frame on the new screen doors was the same width as the Simonton screen door. When I went out to measure the metal frame widths, top, bottom, and sides, I realized that the Simonton screen doors were about 1 1/4" too narrow. Because the screen door was too narrow, you could see the bronze colored screen door frame from the inside of the house in the center. If the screen door was wider, then the frame would be hidden by the center sliding door frame. I told this information to Dirk and a week after the initial installation, he and a representative from Simonton came to our house and took new measurements. The new screen doors are on order and should be here in a couple weeks. We have found Hardy Window Co to be a very good company to do business with. They are doing everything possible to make us totally satisfied with the them and their products.

Everything went perfectly and as planned and on time.
Description of Work: We had 3 new windows retro-fitted and one window in the dining room turned into a sliding french door. Hardy windows was very prompt to give us an estimate and very knowledgeable about window and door products. The new windows and door were installed in a timely manner and the work crew were excellent. The new construction in our dining room looks as if it has always been there and they added a light outside for us as well. Clean up was excellent. I would use Hardy again and recommend them to a friend.

We visited Hardy Windows on a Sat, to look at a few different brands of windows. The salesperson, Billy, was very helpful and spent time explaining different features about the different windows we were interested in. He gave us a quote and my husband and I left very interested. My son, who lives in the house, contacted Billy to have someone come out and measure the windows . Billy told him that since he doesn't handle residential installs, he would have someone else contact him. Several days later, after not hearing from anyone, my son called the company directly and set up an appointment to have someone come out to measure. Jim came out. The new quote was almost $1500 more. The only difference I could see between the 2 quotes was 1 was E2 and the other was E3. I don't know if E3 costs that much more, but the window company that we ultimately went with was $1000 less for the E3. Hardy does have on their quote sheet that they will beat any competitors price, however I'm not interested in playing games. I want a companies best quote up front!

Response from Hardy Windows
Hardy Windows has a reputation in the industry of providing some of the best pricing around on high quality products and installations. Low E3 does add close to 20% over the cost of Low E2. We also carry over 20 different manufacturers which vary in price. Often times as well, when jobs are priced unseen in our showroom, there are things that differ and are more difficult when we visit the project which affects pricing.

On the day of installation, Kayden and Mike came to the house at exactly 8:00am, and worked efficiently for 5 hours. They removed the old windows and retro-fitted the new Simonton Widows & Doors doing all the finish work and cladding the old Gold Anodized Break Metal with beautiful white caps to complete the finish work and giving the new windows and doors a real professional look and feel. They completed the job to our satisfaction. They were very kind, and cleaned up their work areas thoroughly before leaving. We are extremely pleased with Hardy Window Co. and would recommend them.
Description of Work: Casey at Hardy Window Co. guided us through the design process , color, glass etching pattern, secondary lock placement for our Simonton Large Fixed Kitchen Windows and French Sliding Glass Door. Hardy Window provided 2-Large Fixed Vinyl retro-fit windows that have Etched Low-E Argon, tinted Insulated Glass, 1-Large French Sliding Door next to these Fixed Windows. They removed to old windows, and installed the new windows and door, and did all the finish work and clean-up, even hauling the old windows and door away. They also provided the exterior and interior finish trim and break metal cladding.

It went great. I have no complaints. Within the first year I had a couple of small issues that I needed them take care of. They took care of the problems right away. In one case I called them and they had someone out that very day. They did such a good job I called them when I needed to replace the sliding door on a house I was selling in Riverside, CA. I should also mention that when I first called them for an estimate they gave a detailed one showing the price of everything they would be doing. There was no pressure to get us to sign right there and then. This was unlike the experience we had when we had someoned come out and do an estimate from one of the large warehouse stores. They tried pressure us to sign right then. Later on I could see why. Their price was about $8000 more than Hardy charged me and wasn't broken down showing what the cost of each item was. No wonder they didn't want me looking around. Hardy was confident enough with their price that they didn't worry about us comparing their price with other companies. I highly recommend Hardy Windows.

Delivery and installation was over 1 week later than promised. Installers lacked experience, and admitted my wooden windows were only the second ones they'd ever installed. Installation was incomplete, parts were missing, and product was damaged while installing. After the sale, service was totally non-existent. Ten telephone calls were placed for follow-up, and only 2 messages were returned. Admin office is lax and unprofessional, and the problem still exists sixty days after the company was paid in full. They are now blaming the mfrg for the snafu, and have promised to have the mfrg correct the errors. The windows do not operate properly, have a broken return spring, are mis-shaped, had to be installed without proper priming to all sides, and are still without weather stripping.
