Everything went really well and just like the name states Mike is very thorough.

I met Mike for the first time at the home to be inspected. He was punctual, professional and at the same time friendly and approachable. He works quickly, but is very detailed. As a potential home buyer, you will know exactly what you are buying before Mike leaves. I have real estate experience, and Mike noticed everything I noticed and much more. Because of the costly repairs Mike itemized, I was able to back out of the transaction and I was later offered the ability to purchase the home at a substantially reduced price.

Mike showed up to the property for inspection prior to the scheduled time. He clearly stated his role as a home inspector before he started inspection. He spent almost 3 hours inspections. He responded our questions and concerns in a professional manner while he was perfomring his task. After the inspection, he explained his findings to a buyer's realtor and to us. He delivered a complete inspection report within a few hours. We are very impressed with his professionalism and integrity. Thank you Mike!

This was the second time I used "A Thorough Guy Home Inspections" to perform a home inspection. Mike was punctual and professional, as he was in the past. And as the name says, very thorough, of course. Once the inspection was complete, Mike sat down with me and the agents and explained his findings. He had two tablets where he uploaded the pictures to, so we could all follow his explanation while looking at the detailed pictures he took. Mike's fee is not the lowest out there. It can be tough and stressful in finding the right home inspector. An Inspector that will provide information you need to know anything regarding your property without surprises. A knowledgeable person that can help you feel confident in making the right decisions on your future projects, let?s face it, when it comes to home inspections, Mike is hands down the guy to see. I have dealt with other home inspectors in which they do have their own strategies here and there, but none of them compares to the professionalism and courtesy that he brings to the table. He literary inspects every part of the property, internally and externally, with pictures to visually make it easier for others to see and understand the situations from minor to major. Mike will share his opinions and educate with a variety of information such as: construction, up-to-date standards, foundation, electrical, plumbing. The reports are so well detailed that the contractors, who have previously seen his reports, were able to provide quotes without ever doing a site visit. The third word is?reliable?, you have a question, expect an immediate answer within that day to hours or even minutes. This is the kind of service you can expect for someone like Mike Okamura, for those of you that are still considering other options, just give him a try and see it for yourself. Due to Mike extraordinary performance with other customers, I as well became a customer of his when I was in the market. The first possible property was in Coto De Caza which I knew needed some work. I happen to bring my niece along and normally on a site, having kids around, tend to get really bored. He was kind enough to lend my niece his IPad to keep her occupied with Netflix as well as snacks and drinks. After his full thorough inspection, Mike spent an hour on reviewing the issues with us and explaining the severity it has. Few hours later, I received a PDF Copy of the whole report which boggled my mind with the detail and addition of pictures from the site. Needless to say, after going through the report, I ended up not going through with the sale due to the large amount of needed work than I previously anticipated. A Second inspection was also done by Mike over in Fullerton. The house had a dog in the backyard, but Mike actually had dog treats with him and actually made friends with it, than shortlyafter, he was able to continue with his inspection in the backyard (who does this?). Although there were many issues Mike addressed, the house was in better conditioned than the previous place, which we ended up buying after reviewing the cost and repair from his reports. I been living with my wife for over a year here in Fullerton and couldn't be happier with his opinions and suggestions. I will definitely refer Mike to anyone and everyone I know looking for a home inspector.

Mike Okamura of A Thorough Guy came out to inspect my home. He looked over everything and provided a detailed report about his findings. I appreciated the pictures that went along with it. This was not to sell my home but to know about areas like structural support, termites, etc. in areas that I cannot get to. He got to them and told and showed me the status of areas in my house. I particularly appreciated this because I knew some things needed repairs but was unsure of other areas that might be more critical. Mike was professional and provided a detailed report in writing and verbally. I only wished I'd taped him right then so I could replay it. Take the tip!

Mike lived up to his company's name, being extremely thorough in his inspection of my prospective home. He provided a very complete report, walking me through his findings page by page to ensure I understood each detail. Mike also patiently answered all my questions. This allowed me to purchase my new home with confidence, as I knew exactly what I would need to address upon move-in.

It went great. He is truly fantastic. This is the second time I have hired Mike, he does such a great job. In fact, in the first house I considered he found some mold in the kitchen that the sellers tried to hide; the sale was cancelled and I am glad I did not move into a house with a serious mold problem. He really checks everything and makes sure to answer questions if you have them. He is efficient, professional, and friendly. His work is unparalleled; I had to get bids for a few electricians and plumbers after moving into my current house and I used Mike's report to show them the problems...they were impressed with his report and photo documentation. I would highly recommend him and will, of course, hire him again in the future.

Last year Mike performed a "thorough" and I mean thorough Home inspection and report. He provided the hard copy report in a binder immediately after the inspection and went over the report with me then and there. I have been using the Report as I renovated my new home. Because his Report and explanations were so complete, I was able to use contractors that understood that I was knowledgeable about my home (Important as a single female). Mike did a great job It was our first time to buy a house and we need somebody to help us out. He was a definitely that kind of guy1 He prepared a great report and we asked a seller to give us credit to fix those issues that he brought up. It has been a while since then, but I really wanted to thank him for his job!

Mike definitely did a thorough home inspection. He took his time and reviewed his findings with me as well as providing a copy of the final inspection with photos of areas of interest . He was punctual and very professional. I would definitely recommend him.

Just as Mike has named his company, he is extremely thorough! I have bought and sold many homes over the last 15 years living in SoCal and he is by far the best home inspector I have ever had. It is no wonder it is my realtors top recommendation as well. On my most recent purchase in Orange, he left no stone unturned. Although he does not get on the roof, he inspects from windows and the ground and noticed a couple concrete shingles were in need of repair and recommended that I get a roofing company to inspect the areas he could not see. I have made all the recommended repairs or improvements he recommended. For the electrical concerns, I gave those details to an electrician and he was quickly able to resolve all the concerns. Same for the HVAC areas. You will not go wrong with hiring Mike - he is the best and extremely efficient and professional. He will be my first call when I go to purchase another home.

Mike did the most complete home inspection I could ever have hoped for. He told me prior to the inspection that it would likely take approximately four hours for him to complete his home inspection, but in this case it took him several hours longer. There was no additional fee for this, even though Mike did not anticipate the length of time my home inspection would take. Thanks to Mike, I have rectified the many problems that he found during his home inspection and I am happy to say that my home is now in great shape. I am most grateful to Mike for his conscientious and thorough job.

Mike was recommended to us by a friend of ours who had also recently purchased a house and used him to inspect a few prospective places. He arrived right on time, with any and all equipment he could possibly need to perform the inspection. He inspected the whole house, including underneath where the supports are, the attic, roof, and pretty much everywhere on the property. Once he finished his inspection, he compiled and printed all of the data--complete with complementing pictures--into a handy binder and handed it to us. As if this weren't enough, this is where he went way above and beyond the previous home inspection services we've used, and sat down to review his findings with us page-by-page... Before we'd even begun reviewing, he also mentioned that along with all of his tools on the porch, he also had a cooler with drinks and snacks and if we'd like anything to help ourselves; as a 5-month pregnant woman at the time, this alone was enough to make me sing his praises. He was extraordinarily helpful and candid with all of our questions (some which were admittedly stupid), and while he specified that he couldn't tell us what to do, offered information as to what he would and wouldn't do if, hypothetically, it were his home. Once finished, he assured us that we could contact him any time in the future with additional questions that came up.

Mike assisted us in our first time home buying process in early 2013. He provided a very thorough and detailed inspection that gave us ample information to make informed decisions. The first home we put an offer on had had some "mascara" work done on it. This is what Mike calls it when you have a problem and fix the appearance instead of the issue. When he sat down with me to give me the inspection report, he had a laundry list of red flag items that he explained to me in as much detail as I could handle. We were so thankful we spent the money to have Mike save us years of fixing a money pit! About 4 months later we put an offer on another home, and you better believe Mike was our first call once we signed the papers. He gave us a discount for using him again, and put our worries to rest with our first home purchase. He still found items to report on this house, but told us which things should be priority and which things he just wants us to be aware of and probably wouldn't be an issue. I felt extremely confident in his knowledge and ability, and couldn't have felt as at ease in the process without his input. Mike Okamura has inspected two homes for us in the South Bay in the past couple months. The first property was a beautiful flip: newly redone kitchen and bathrooms, new floors, new driveway -- perfect in every way. After a couple hours of him looking at it, he came back to us with an extensive list of things that we would need to fix to make the property as nice as it seemed on the surface. As it turned out, the flipper had cut all sorts of corners that meant we would need to redo the place to make it worth the offer price. We ultimately decided to walk away and could not be happier. If it weren't for Mike, I have no doubt that we would've made a terrible financial decision to buy a money pit we couldn't afford. The second home he inspected for us was in much better condition, but he was just as incredibly detailed. He caught everything that was caught in a previous inspection of the property, but also a few important things more. For example, there were three remodeled bathrooms in the property that were previously inspected by a certified inspector, two realtors, and myself. We all thought they checked out fine. Mike got in there, pulled the accumulated jumble of toilet paper, beauty products, soap, and q-tips out of the cabinets and discovered that the back walls were not properly covered after the remodel -- three gaping holes where the pipes were. On top of his attention to detail, he's knowledgeable and patient. He thoroughly answered the many questions I had for him during his final run through. He takes copious pictures and leads you through them slowly, carefully, and accurately. Both times I've walked away completely certain that I know everything there is to know about the property because Mike had it covered. Thanks so much, Mike! Mike, the inspector, was truly a professional and knows what he's doing. Not only did he show up early, but he brought water for everyone and even tools for us in case we wanted to measure or look closely at something. He spent a great deal of time testing and examining every part of the condo and provided a VERY detailed report on the property's condition. To say the least, there was no stone left unturned. Mike's price was also more than reasonable, considering the amount of time he spent (almost two hours for per condo) and the amount of work involved for him. We have found our go-to home inspector!

Mike made time in his schedule for the inspection as we had a short escrow. He contacted me directly by phone and email. I wasn't able to be at the site, so he emailed me the report which was very complete with photos, and included a Summary Report which gave a brief review. He said that I could call him up until 10 pm that night to go over the report on the phone. He was willing to give me all the time I needed to ask questions about items on the report. I was very satisfied with his service.

Mike arrived on time and prepared to go. He spent several hours going around the property and taking many notes as will as a ton of pictures. He then went over all the issues he found, and delivered his report the same afternoon. If you need an independent voice to go over a purchase, i would recommend this guy over going through someone who might be beholden to the real estate agent for future work. His price might be higher than someone the agent knows, but he will work for you.

Mike was absolutely tru to his company name! The inspections on each property was much more comprehensive than any report we've ever had or seen. In both cases, he identified several major issues which would have been very expensive to repair, including attic insulation installed with the flamable side up, grading problems, defective dual pane windows throughout one home. He also reported a huge number of minor items which added up to major isses. We were unable to come to an agreement with the sellers on either home. Mike helped us to avoid potential "money pit" situations, and we are very grateful! We heartily recommend him to anyone who wants a truly thorough inspection.

I was impressed at his diligence as well as his use of technology to provide an extremely detailed and easy to follow report. After the inspection Mike briefed me on every piece of his findings and took the time to fully answer all of my questions and address any concerns I had. He did a very through job with the inspection. He outlined all the issues no matter how big or small. He provided a very detailed report with pictures on the spot. I have had home inspections at other properties before but no one has ever come close to what was provided by this inspector. I would definitely recommend this inspector to anyone who would like a thorough inspection done at their property.

Mike is nothing less than great. He arrived early to inspect the outside of the house. This is our first time hiring a home inspector and it was a pleasant experience. He exceeded our expectation in every way. Don't be too alarmed at the hundred-page long inspection report because he poked through every corner. Luckily our house only has "minor" problems but I am sure he will find it no matter big or small. He spent probably one an a half hours going through everything in the report which you will get hours later in your email, complete with pictures. His professionalism is outstanding. He was completely unbiased. Highly recommended.
