A Thorough Guy Home Inspections

I contacted Mike based on the other Angie's List reviews. Again, Angie's List was so helpful in recommending someone. Mike was outstanding. He was incredibly thorough, showed me every single issue he found, and also taught me about many of them. He identified 2 areas of mold for which further testing was positive. This made a huge difference in that this was remediated before I closed escrow. The seller was also so impressed with Mike's inspection that she hired him to inspect a home that she planned to buy. Mike was pleasant, professional, and articulate. I recommend Mike highly, and would certainly hire him again if I ever needed another inspection.

I was very, very pleased with this inspection. Mike was incredibly thorough as his company name suggests. My house turned 100 years old this year. I have lived in it for 30 years and knew there had been some upgrades prior to my occupancy but I had never done any upgrades myself. I decided to have a home inspection by a neutral party before calling in individual specialists. I used Angie's List to find this company. As I suspected, a lot of problems turned up, some critical that will require immediate attention. At least when I call for the repairs I know exactly what to have them work on. Mike gave me an incredibly detailed report with pictures and then went through everything before he left. He was really nice and didn't mind that my dogs followed him everywhere.

As a first time home buyer the amount and level of detail was truly staggering. Mike helped everywhere from my orientation to the process to being willing to follow up should I have questions in the future. Most importantly, I feel I have a very solid knowledge of my prospective home from top to bottom. I have the information necessary to follow up with specific home contractors to determine costs, which may in turn inform/modify the contract/escrow process.

We reached out to three potential inspectors. Mike was the most consistently communicative, helpful, detailed, and timely of them all. His price was right, his willingness to work with our schedule was really helpful. Onsite, he described every step he was taking, told us what to expect and what not to expect, and he provided us with an amazing wealth of information. Based on his inspection, we were able to go back to the seller with a list of things we expected them to either fix or give us credit for. Without Mike's incredible level of expertise, detail, and organization, and his clear explanations to us, we would have paid way too much and we'd have way too many items on our to-do list once we do move in. All this, and Mike is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. We would recommend Mike to anyone looking for a top notch home inspection at a very reasonable price.

Mike actually warned us beforehand that the report was going to be extremely thorough, and it was indeed. In fact without the caveat beforehand we would have been quite nervous about the home due to the number of items he noted. However, that was a great feature, since he made a note of every item that may have an issue down the road - even if it was originally built to older standards and is still working.

He charged a very reasonable rate. He is very good and thorough at what he does. I was very impressed with everything he covered. After the inspection, I called with some additional questions and he took the time to talk to me, which was very reassuring.

This morning, the day after the inspection, I got a call from my Realtor (20 years in the business). The call went like that : "So how much did you pay for that inspector", me: "$400", him: "wow... this is incredible. I have never seen an inspector so thorough, and with such an extensive report printed out the same day! And he brought water and snacks". I'm a first time home buyer so Mike is the first home inspector I've hired, but I don't see why you would want to use anyone else. I didn't want to go with the inspector my Realtor usually works with, it seemed like a conflict of interest and I wanted a truly independent opinion on the house. I picked the best one according to Angie's list and that's exactly what I got (plus a 68 pages report). Mike inspects the house as if he was going to buy it himself.

He showed up and introduced himself to me and my wife and explained everything that he was going to do. He even had a name tag that he wore to identify himself. Who does that? We had an appraiser show up at the condo and we didn't even know who he was. We had to ask. He was very polite and he had all of his equipment and testing devices to do his inspection. He wore booties over his shoes with respect to the interior of the home. He was quick, but thorough. Pointed out items that needed to be either repaired or replaced. Here is where he separates the men from the boys. After he was finished, he went into his truck and put together the most awesome report of the inspection. He had a CD that has all the pictures and the report and a notebook that explained everything that was done and what he observed in his inspection. All this was done on the scene and we didn't have to wait except for a few minutes. No waiting until next day or a couple of days later. Our real estate agent was so impressed by him that he is going to call him for all of their inspection from this point forward. If anyone reading this doesn't call him for a home inspection you are missing out. You will not be dissapointed.

We truly believe Mike did a wonderful job for our first home inspection/purchase. He was prompt in our communications and scheduling. Fortunately he didn't find too many issues with the house. He even charge us a little bit less than his original quote because the inspection finished faster than usual. We are very happy with Mike and gain a lot of knowledge about home inspection.

Mike was such a professional. He promptly responded to my initial inquiry and answered all the questions I had ahead of time. He was early to our appointment and really took his time to go through everything. He is genuinely a thorough guy! Such a refreshing experience with no complaints at all. Would HIGHLY recommend him.

From the first time I contacted Mike, via website and email, he was extremely responsive and provided a lot of documentation on what is and what is not covered by his inspection as well as a sample report (great prep if you haven't gone through this process before). I thought I would arrive early, but apparently my Realtor and Mike got there before the appointed time and he had began on the exterior inspection. Mike covered again what was and wasn't covered and answered any questions I had. As he began the inspection I accompanied him for some of the areas and he took time to explain what he was looking at, but also areas that would not photograph well. He even provided chairs/snacks/drinks and even an Ipad!! After several hours, Mike completed his reported and went over it step by step complete with pictures (and a CD) and provided us exactly what we wanted him to give us, the unvarnished truth of the condition of the house and even for those items we didn't complete understand (I know zero about roofing components) he had examples of what should be there. If you want a very thorough report, Mike is the guy for the job!

We saw Mike pull up to our house about 1/2 hour before the appointment and prepared for the inspection. He was right on time and came to our door, put booties on before he entered our home. He came in and explained what he was going to do, what he was not going to do and his training. He answered our questions and was very pleasant. Mike then spent more than 3 hours going around our house - into the attic, the garage, cupboards, closets, etc. He took many pictures and notes. He asked a few questions about things as he went. He brought his own ladder and was very neat, putting the booties back on when he came into the house. He ran faucets, the furnace, air conditioner, dish washer, etc. to assess how they operated. He paid particular attention to electrical and plumbing issues. At the end, he sat down and reviewed his findings, answered questions and presented his report in a 3-ring binder that included a book, "The Homeowners Handbook." We have begun implementing Mike's recommendations and licensed contractors we have hired have seen the report and remarked on how thorough it is. They are able to work from his report. Mike has even been willing to respond to phone calls and questions from contractors directly after making his report to us. Mike is easy to talk to, neat and what he says he is, A Thorough Guy. We would definitely recommend using him! Thank you Mike.

Home inspection performed at our newly contracted 13 year old home.

Mike arrived early, having conducted much of the property's exterior inspection prior to my arrival. He not only produced a report while onsite, he had it printed and bound in a three-ring binder, complete with CD and 87 printed images, before he left the residence. His work was so complete that I gained an extensive understanding of the work that will be required to make this property in good stead. He revealed far more than I had seen, anticipated or imagined. His price was an incredible bargain for the service performed and I can't understate how professional he is. He has the task at hand down to a science and he is enormously impressive. Within short order, he had transmitted a pdf file of the entire report to my real estate agent.

IWe had Mike inspection service for our house purchase in FV. And I'm glad we make a right choice. He's very professional and responsive. He even came early to inspect outside the house first. The report came right away and he took time to explain every details. I'd highly recommend him.

Mike is fantastic. His communication by phone and email before the inspection was prompt and very helpful. I was already impressed well before inspection date. When the day came for the inspection, Mike had arrived to the home early (all while having driven over 75 miles to get to me) and was already hard at work when I arrived on time. He had all of his equipment, including snacks and cold drinks for me to choose from. He explained what his job was and what it wasn't, making sure I understood exactly what was going to take place. For the next three hours Mike combed the house covering everything. Thorough indeed. He took extensive pictures and notes, all the while talking to me about what he was finding. He went into detail describing issues in a non technical easy to understand manner. Mike was extremely clean and thoughtful and after several hours, he was off to his truck to compile a gorgeous bound presentation folder with my report. The report includes page after page of photographs, a summary of his findings and an addendum in greater detail. As well, Mike provided a CD with the report and photographs in electronic format and even sent a PDF copy to my realtor later that evening. To say that I was impressed would be an understatement.

Mike was already at the house and had begun his inspection of the outside when I got there and I was 15-20 minutes early for the appointment. He looked at every system in the house, even finding a crack in the slab when he was taking pictures of the heating system. He looked in the attic and at all the major appliances in the kitchen. He turned on all the plumbing fixtures in the house and made sure that the drains were working properly etc. He climbed up into the attic and crawled around taking pictures. He took pictures of the roof, the grading and inspected the garage. To say that he is thorough just doesn't say enough! He spent about 3 hours looking at the house. After the inspection was over he took about 25 minutes to print out his pictures and report. He then met with me offsite at a location of my choice where he presented me with a binder containing 100+ color pictureswith room for notes, the written report, and a book about proper home maintenance. . He spent about an hour going over every picture and written statement. All of this while answering my questions and waiting to let me take notes. He told me the systems that needed additional specialist inspection and what type of specialist I should contact. Mike was so thorough and professional that I felt assured that I had someone looking out for my best interests. When it came time to pay for the service, I was pleasantly surprised when he told me that he had a coupon on Angies list and even though I didnt know about the coupon he gave me the discount anyway! Not only would I recommend him to others but I will use him again for my next house.

Excellent work. He even brought drinks for everyone and chairs to sit on. Even the agents at the property said this was the best home inspection they had ever seen! A++

Mike responded same-day on a Sunday to our initial inquiry. He made our appointment for Tuesday (the only day he had open that week) and he emailed us a copy of his contract, brochure and price list so that we would be prepared to sign everything when we met. We didn't have to bring any of that paperwork, though; he took care of all of that. Mike arrived before we did (we had made sure he had access) and he began his work immediately. He took us through an explanation of what he would provide, asked us a few questions and estimated how long it would take him. He brought tape measures, waters and snacks for us! A very nice touch. We left the premises for almost two hours. When we came back, Mike went over his report with us line by line and explained that we should feel free to call him if we had questions later. We paid with a credit card. And we were left with the three ring binder. Start to finish, it took about 3.5 hours for our 1750 sq ft townhouse and two-car-plus detached garage. The buildings were empty. He used a ladder and took pictures of a the roofs on both buildings. We are very pleased with his inspection and we will probably call him in the future to consult for us as we do renovations and repairs.

He was thorough. He did make some recommendations in his report.

Mike arrived at the scheduled time. He is a very courteous and professional guy. He did a detailed and complete inspection even though the house was full of people(former owners and real estate agent and us). He printed out a very professional looking inspection report right there at the location. He even gave us a discount because the job turned out to be smaller than he expected. We would not hesitate to recommend Mike or hire him again.

Mike lives up to the name of his company. He was punctual, and came with a cooler full of goodies since the home inspection tends to take several hours. He inspected the home top to bottom, inside and out, and along the way, would call us over to show us something that he thought was of particular concern that we might want to make note of. Of course, all of this and then some was included in a complete and very organized report that he provided to us at the end of the inspection which included pictures, recommendations and some other usefule resources and information. He also gave us the option to follow up around throughout the whole inspection process, but we opted out of this. My only bit of constructive criticism would be that it would have been nice to be able to get some prioritization of items needing to be fixed and/or recommendations of specialist for things that he suggested we get repaired or taken care of. Some others had mentioned this in their reviews on Angie's List and I didn't exactly know what they meant, but now I do. To be fair, Mike was also upfront about this. I guess I just didn't realize what all in entailed. Overall though, and as you can see by my ratings, we were very well pleased with the general inspection and Mike's professionalism.
