A Thorough Guy Home Inspections

I was in escrow for a house when it came time to do the inspection. Although my real estate agent was pushing for one of the inspectors on his list, I had used Mike before and was really impressed by his thoroughness, completeness and professionalism. My real estate agent wasn't particularly excited about an inspector he wasn't familiar with, but I wanted an independent, unbiased opinion and I knew Mike would fit the bill. I was not disappointed. He took the time necessary to poke into every aspect of the house that he calls out in his inspection contract. He produced a report complete with pictures and detailed explanation on the spot. We sat down with my agent, the sellers and seller's agent and he went through each of his findings (with multiple iPads to display the pictures he took). His professionalism is outstanding. He was completely unbiased, presented his findings with evidence and avoided raising any emotional reactions. Highly recommended.

He is courteous and incredibly professional. After going through everything g with a fine tooth comb and documenting all. He sat and explained every picture for an hour. The about 3 hours after I received an written report over 100 pages long. I highly recommend him. Not only did he do his job, I felt I learned a lot . Great guy.

A friend of mine used Mike for his home purchase and referred me to him. Mike did an exceptional job. He was extremely professional and detailed. He has incredible knowledge of building systems and building codes. He arrived on time and was extremely efficient. Mike was great from the start and consistent through-out the entire process. He was very prompt and clear in all communications. He made it very easy to work with him by offering electronic signature via email on the up-front agreement and delivered the report via email after reviewing all the details with me in person. Like the name says, very thorough home inspection. You could tell he was not in a rush to complete and not only noted deficiencies but also suggested improvements that are not required but may be considered for safety or to be in compliance with current standards. Leaves you with a professional binder that outlines the fulll inspection, has pictures, and gives suggestions for routine home maintenance. Will use him again in the future.

Mike arrived earlier than expected- pleasant surprise! And he brought snacks too. He went through our home and was very meticulous in identifying all necessary and recommended repairs throughout the house. We plan on using his recommendations to guide us in taking good care of our home in the years to come. I would highly recommend him to my friends and family. Mike was ridiculously detailed about our home inspection. He spent double the time that other inspectors would have going through every inch of our new home. Even printed us a massive binder filled with photos immediately after the inspection from the printer in his car. Would recommend him to anyone!

Mike was VERY professional. His communication was top notch. We received our appointments and documents electronically both when we made the appointments and the day before our inspections. Mike was very thourough in his process and covered everything in the house. When the inspections were over we were presented with a summary report along with tablets showing us the pictures of all the items that were of importance. Mike even had pictures of what things should look like when done correctly for reference. I also received a very detailed COLOR report later that evening along with a binder containing other very useful information on our home buying process. I could not have been more pleased with his professionalism, work ethic and knowledge and would recommend him without hesitation to anyone needing a home inspection.

Mike is fantastic. Easy to work with. Responsive. Flexible. Extremely thorough and professional. We had realtors comment that he's the best they've seen and have asked for his contact information. He brings snacks for customers since he knows how long the process is. He takes the time to talk through all the issues he's found and explains how they should be fixed. First, I'd like to make it clear that my husband and I were first time home buyers. We had looked at a number of homes, and found a beautiful house, 100 years old, that captured our interest. Rather, he explained in specific detail the condition of the house's foundation, roof, cement grading around the perimeter, electrical wiring, etc. He gave us so much information that allowed us to make an informed decision. In addition, he was very timely by returning our email request the same day with a phone call. He's so popular, we had to schedule an appointment right away. He showed up on time, spent nearly two hours on the job, being very thorough, and had the patience for all our concerns. I would highly recommend him to all potential home buyers. He showed up in professional business attire. I thought "How is he going to crawl under the house and into the attic?!" When the time came, he put on a pair of coveralls and did his job in a serious manner. He took so many photos, supplied us with a CD and binder on the spot, and made a pdf file available as well. And if he can't fit you into his packed schedule right away, and you can wait an extra day for his services, do so!

I contacted Mike after reading the reviews on Angies List. He was prompt in responding, and sent over all of the paperwork to be digitally signed -- love the effort to be green! On the day of the inspection, Mike arrived early and conducted a thorough inspection of the home I had purchased. Aferwards, he spent time going over every issue he found and the photos he took. A few hours later I received a very detailed and lengthy report of all of Mike's findings. I will definitely recommend him to anyone looking to get a home inspection.

On time very efficient . Printed out in a great binder of everything he inspected. Very impressive work. No waiting for report. Printed everything out with pictures.

Everything was wonderful from start to finish. Mike's attention to detail, professionalism, customer service, and the care he took to fully explain everything to me was perfect. I really think I hit the jackpot with his level of detail. I'm not an expert, so he explained all the issues one by one as we went through the report just 30 minutes after he finished the inspection. The report had photographs of all issues, major and minor, with clear explanations by each. He even brought snacks, water and tea, lawn chairs (the house was empty), and let us use his iPad and tape measure.

He provided me with a full print out of the complete report and then sat with me to make sure I understood everything.

Mike returned my initial phone call in about five minutes. Great first impression. We set a schedule and he promptly sent the forms to be signed via e-mail. I arrived at the property shortly after the inspection. His vehicle was clearly marked and he wore a shirt with his name on it. Very professional in appearance. He offered me water and said he would be with me shortly after he prepared his report. Approximately 10 minutes later, he provided me with a thorough report (hence the business name), with photos, in a binder for me to keep. He explained, line by line, the issues he found and what needed to be corrected. Very professional, punctual, thorough and a very nice person too. Mike is amazing! What an apt name for his business! He truly is a Thorough Guy! And professional, friendly, and well prepared. He came on time, with water and snacks that he offered to me throughout the inspection. He introduced himself, summarized what he would be doing, and set right off to work. I have been through many home inspections but Mikes really stood out from anything I have ever experienced. His report was unbelievably detailed and it comes with extra value items such as a pre-move-in checklist and a wonderful book about home construction details. He went over absolutely everything with me, large and small. Too bad A is the highest grade. Mike is more like A++

Price was $400 (for age of home and 2000+ sq ft), but got $25 off coupon from Angie's List, which was great. This home is 14 years old, so fairly new comparatively speaking, did not identify any really significant problem, but was impressed at how thorough he was. In the shower, he used some type of metal ball to assess placement of tiles and direction of water flow, whether there could be potential water problems, etc. He was on time (even a bit early) and got started already in the garage when I arrived. My only regret is that I didn't follow him around for the entire duration of the inspection because I didn't want to feel like I was "hovering". So for the parts that I did follow him around for, was impressed by what he was doing. He provided drinks/snacks in a cooler, as well as an iPad to use in case I wanted to take a break. Overall very happy and would recommend to others.

Mike arrived on time. He stayed for several hours and even brought water and goodies with him. He looked at every nook and cranny and before he left, he reviewed everything with us. His report was "thorough" to say the least with lots of pictures and descriptions. It is unheard of for a bank to drop the price on a short sale, but with the aid of Mike's inspection, we were able to get the bank to lower the price of the house by 10%. Thank you Mike!!!

I called Mike on a Wednesday evening and he was able to fit us in the following Monday. When we arrived at the scheduled time, he had already been there for an hour examining the outside of the home, including the roof. He gave us a very informative spiel about his job as an inspector and what types of things he would, and would not, be doing. He also had a cooler full of drinks, snacks and an ipad for us to play with (if I had known ahead, I wouldn't have gotten a babysitter for my daughter!) He spent about 2.5 to 3 hours inspecting the house, then spent about 45 minutes preparing the report. He then spent another hour going over everything with us. I was very impressed with Mike's knowledge of California building codes. He gave us a wealth of information, and was very good about breaking down what items were urgent safety hazards, items to take care of sooner than later, and things that may not be necessary but were recommended upgrades. Compared with home inspectors I have dealt with in the past, this guy is far and away superior. I didn't expect him to get all the way into the attic or under the house and I am grateful he did, because he found a couple very serious problems. And I was so happy with the turnaround time for getting the report (a previous inspector took 48 hours to get us a report on a house half the size and it was only 18 pages). I plan on keeping his inspection report handy in the new house because it was so helpful, and its a great reference. Mike was very friendly and he gave me the Angie's List discount even though I forgot to bring the coupon. He was worth every penny and I will definitely be recommending A Thorough Guy to friends and family.
