Overall, Stewart's did a decent job; enough that I give them an A for the work that they did. I might consider them for further work, but only if they were in the same price range as others, after I did thorough research. The air conditioner of my central heating system stopped working just as the heat was starting to increase for the year. I used this service call to figure out what was wrong with the system. I specifically told the company that my unit was on the second floor. But I think they misunderstood; it was on the 2nd floor of an overhead crawl space, and required a ladder to access. For that reason they had to come again to actually do the check. I can say they did an accurate job of diagnosing the specific problem because I got a second opinion. I was not thrilled by the solution on they proposed, which was 1) get a repair at $300+ and/or 2) replace the furnace (~$4000). Remember the repair was for the air conditioner. They said the check revealed that the system was old (knew that), that it was rusted out, and needed replacing immediately (not quite true). Any repair would only put a bandage on a more severe problem. But then, I realized I had paid for a system check by a service company whose job it is to sell air conditioners and furnaces. I should have expected that. To end this repair story, the part they told me broke, I did have replaced, by another company for nearly half the price. The other company verified that was indeed the problem, and sure, I could get a new furnace, but I probably had at least another season with the current one. Plus the part that broke was not due to an inefficient furnace, thought it didn't help matters.

Our heater died on 1/16/16. My husband called and got an appointment for Sunday afternoon at 3pm. The technician called and said he could be early if that was convenient, which was great. He performed the diagnostic (for $89). His conclusion: "found bad board ($1,092) and spark igniter ($558). Due to age and condition of unit recommend replacing unit ($3,767)." We were also told that the price of the diagnostic could go towards the cost of service if ordered within 48 hours. My husband did some research online and discovered that the cost of a new motherboard was less than 1/5th of what we were quoted. Based on this, we decided to get a 2nd opinion. After another 30 minutes to test/diagnose, the only issue discovered was the spark igniter, which cost $97 and took about 15 minutes to replace. We were also told that our furnace was in good condition. Overall impression is that scare tactics were used to pressure us into purchasing a new unit.

They came out right around the purchase time. There were no extra charges. The thing that stood out about them was the individual who came was seemingly qualified for the job. It was really clear and he did make a statement that plumbing is new for Stewart Heating and Air and it's something that they recently added. Therefor he wasn't equipped to necessarily handle anything and everything plumbing related but he was professional and absolutely kind. He quickly recognized that Extra Hands, the previous person that tried to repair a fixture, a bathroom tub fixture, broke it and completely damaged it. He did recognize it and I will give it to him he did know what he was doing and did his best to repair. They were unable to fix it but it was most certainly not his fault. I would give them a B just for effort. They were courteous, great at trouble shooting, gave some suggestions as to other places we may be able to find a fixture, and honest, he just laid out the facts for me. I would use their services in the future but not for plumbing.

Our Guest Suite has an independent Heating/Cooling system. It suddenly stopped working one day. Our Home Insurance company said that this was a commercial grade unit so won't be covered under warranty. I looked up on Angie's List and contacted Stewart Heating. They sent a technician over; he was very knowledgeble and professional. It turned out that the unit was not broken and was going in defrost mode. He educated me on the unit and changed the filter that has been changed in a long time. He spent a lot of time making sure there was nothing wrong with the unit and went though all the major components of the unit. I am very happy with their service and will use them again.

Our furnace stopped working. Don from Stewart's came on time and explained what was wrong and what our options were. Options like rebates, financing, whether we would want to just put in a new circuit board, or a whole new system. He gave us two new-system options. We're still deciding which option to go with, but we know who we want to go with, and that's Don, he was so nice.

The heating unit in my rental property stopped working. I purchased the $39 diagnostic voucher for Stewart on Angie's list. A technician visited the property within a week. I was told the check valve was not working and it would cost $650 to repair. I authorized the repair. A new technician installed the valve but that did not fix the problem. Now it would cost me another $1,500 to fix the furnace "pump" and a new thermostat. In addition, they found leaks in my hot water heater which could not be repaired and that would cost me another $1,700. This is a big change from the original diagnostic. Unfortunately my tenant was suffering due to the cold spell, so I authorized the work. Upon billing I noted that the available Angie's list discount was not applied. Therefore I called to have this billing problem resolved. Unfortunately I was denied the Angie's list discount in spite of the fact that the work done qualified me for the discount. For this reason I have chosen not to continue using Stewart. Instead I suggest L.J Kruse Co. I have received good service from them in the past and no billing problems.

Not good. First, they didn't honor their time of arrival. I then waited till about 2 pm to find out if they were even coming. So the installer finally shows up at 3:30 pm. Installer installed a wall furnace and I had to ask how to work unit wall control as he was quick to run out the door. Begrudgingly ran thru it as it was late in the day. Terrible feeling asking him to help me out with my new unit. Installed on a Friday. By Tuesday evening, the unit no longer worked. Wall controls did not work. Suffered a cold night. Called for service repair the next day and received major attitude from the female desk clerk. She informed me that she knew I had posted a negative review from their email to me asking how they did. She suggested that it'd be easier for me next time I contact them first before giving them a bad review. I suffered a freezing night! Of course I'm p***** off. Their heater didn't work! I really regret dealing with Stewart's Heating & Plumbing. I don't want them to come back into my home to repair, but they have to to repair their heater that didn't last even 5 days.

The company resource another company to come and do the inspection. It ended up that first could not do the job correctly so i had to pay him travel cost and for services he couldn't do. Then had to spend more to get another plumber that was resourced out from this company to get him to properly do the drain inspection and replace the pipe.. SO i spent more money then what i planned and had to spend more time as well waiting for them to get somebody to me.

Service was exceptional. I got a great deal buying the package ahead of time on Angie's List and from scheduling to service the whole experience exceeded my expectations. It was for a new home, and I also wanted feedback on the ventilation tubes needing cleaned. There was no sales pressure. In fact, he talked me out of cleaning the vent tubes as they were old and encased in asbestos. He said they looked pretty clean and didn't want to put the high pressure cleaning vacuum on it at risk of causing cracks or damage to the tubes. We discussed upgrading it all during a remodel and he even helped with some old power line thermostats on some in-wall electric heaters. I signed up for the annual plan based on the service (even that he did not sell hard, and I finally asked him if he'd get any credit for it. After he said yes, I wanted to do it just for him - and it's a great deal). Steward will be my go to for heating and plumbing now.

Our service person was on time, very informative, fixed what we needed right away and recommended future maintenance. He was also very nice to Molly - our Cocker Spaniel. Everything is working well and we will definitely be a repeat customer.

Cancelled on me twice the day that service was supposed to be performed.

It went well. The provider was on time and courteous. He thought he was coming for an air conditioner maintenance but had no trouble shifting to doing the heater when I corrected his mistake. He made reasonable recommendations and wasn't pushy about getting me to do additional work. I would use them again.

It went perfectly fine. He arrived on time, pleasant to talk to, and detailed in his explanations on what he was doing. There was a small attempt at an up sale, but as soon as I let him know I wasn't interested, it was dropped. He was thorough in his checks of our wires, and appliances. For $55, I was quite pleased. He gave me advice to make sure I upkeep my system in a proper fashion.

Alfred was always on time, easy to work with and very professional both service calls.

I felt the service was great and the technician was very personable and honest. I will use them again when we need actual work done on our equipment.

They came in, did the work and then charged us more money. We decided that we would never use them again. The reason we decided that we would never use them again is that we've had air duct cleaners come in before and they normally have a truck outside with a generator generating the energy for their cleaning. They have a built-in generator on their service truck. They don't come in with their equipment and plug it into my household outlets. These people came in and plugged it into my regular voltage outlet. We called an electrician. They came, looked at it and said, "They should have known better. You can't put that kind of voltage on a kitchen outlet because they're meant for all the appliances that you plug-in. But, this one is meant for lighting and things like that." It blew my entire circuit board. It just blew the whole thing out. These people came in. They had this big monstrous round machine and they used our power to power their machinery. There was this main duct in our living room and he said, "Oh, I need to do that. We haven't done that yet." So, he just plugged his big machine into our wall outlet and we saw this bright spark come out. They said, "You need to get that repaired." Well, first of all, they caused it. They put some stuff into our ducts that made it smell nicer. But, did they clean the duct that goes behind the clothes dryer? We've had people come in and they have said, "Oh, this really needed to be cleaned." I asked my son, "Did they go and do that?" He said, "No mom. They didn't bother to do that." So they didn't do a full cleaning.

Bought the Angie's List deal for AC inspection and tune up. We have an older HVAC system and we just wanted to make sure everything was working correctly before the hot season when AC is a necessity around here. A technician came and looked at things, said it's working fine, but old and reaching the end of its life, but still seems to have a little life left--maybe a few years. Presented us with a written evaluation, including recommendations for maintenance, and offered to sell us a twice-yearly maintenance package. He was here probably a half-hour. Honestly, not sure exactly what we paid for. At least he didn't try to hard-sell us a new system. HOWEVER, he actually missed something that would turn out to be a real problem once the AC had to run a lot in the heat. A few of weeks later, during a heat spell while the AC was running, we had some significant overflow and leakage in the ac drain (not sure what it's called) which overflowed into the sub floor under the furnace. Water was actually splashing around. My husband ended up trouble-shooting and fixing the problem on his own. I get the feeling this "deal" is more of a PR gesture for the company, or for selling the maintenance package, than an actual service that would benefit customers. I would not purchase a "tune up" again, though I suppose I might call them if I had a real problem at a later time. The technician himself was actually friendly and professional, and seemed competent and knowledgeable.

He was prompt and very business like. We would use him again.

They charged us a lot of money for the a/c and everything. They still owe us four hundred and seventy five dollars. We would call them and they would never answer or call back. They said that we would get the $475 back on a card and we never received the card.

Showed up on time and provided needed services in a professional manner

I broke the pipe moving a heavy litter box under the sink and broke the pipe connected to the underside of the basin. I tried myself to fix it but was unsuccessful and took the opportunity to hire someone from Angie's List, my first purchase. The young mane came on time, wore shoe covers over his work boots and quickly repaired the connector. Luckily, I had previously purchased the right part and the repairman repaired the sink in about 15 minutes. He was very polite and professional. I am very happy with the work done and would not hesitate to use Stewart Heating Air & Plumbing Inc again.
