Darren Kicker's Affordable & Reliable Electrical

We got several bids for a three-day electrical job and went with Darren based on his fair price, responsiveness, and subject matter expertise. He worked efficiently, always showed up early, and left the site cleaner than when he found it. The city inspector approved the work with no issues. Would definitely use again for our next electrical job!

Darren was right on time. He offered several solutions to our problems, several of which were faster and more affordable than the original approach. I will use him again on our next project.

Darren was excellent. He found the problem quickly and fixed it in less than 1/2 hour. He has an extensive background in all things electric.. He has a degree in electrical engineering. Darren has lots of history in cleaning up other electrician's bad work. If you need an electrician who will fix the problem the first time, call Darren!

I made initial contact via email (as it was the the recommended way to reach Darren). It did take a day or two for Darren to respond, but once he did, his communication was exemplary. He did his best to accommodate the urgency of my situation, and kept me well informed of his status and expected arrival. Upon arrival, Darren had all parts on hand and got to work immediately. Although I am far from an expert, I was able to observe Darren's work style. He was quite efficient, yet also careful and systematic (very little wasted motion). He cleaned up and simplified a messy wiring scenario and left me with a new, simpler and safer configuration that is plug-in ready for a new pump.

I emailed Angie's List with this info already. My first time using your service(?) and none of the listed folks returned my call. A waste of $29. This is the last time I am going to let you know.

Darren did a great job. I got three bids besides his and everyone of them wanted to upgrade my panel and do a bunch of work and he came in and just said, "Well, here is how you fix it." It was about a 15-minute job and he fixed what was wrong with the panel and it went right back to operating normally. He was the first one that came in that did not try to upsell me. He did quality work and pointed out where the issue was with the panel and fixed it. One company came in and they wanted to charge me $4,000 to change up an outside panel that had nothing to do with the problem. They wanted to do a bunch of work to the inside and the outside panels and it was totally ridiculous. So, I am glad that I checked Darren out. That is the thing. I go to Angie's List to give me ideas and I probably came across Kicker's name through your service. I was thinking about calling him to do some other work in my house.

Fantastic. He is everything you would want to have as a professional coming into your home. I have had a lot of trouble since September trying to find someone who would call back or show up, so was delighted that Darren was so responsive and did a great job at a good price. I will be very happy to use him in the future and would recommend to anyone.

We called and left messages and email for the provider to contact us. To date, we haven't had a response which is why we went to another provider who called back and was at our home yesterday.

When we purchased our first house last year we realized that the electrical system would need some updating. We knew that it was going to be a large project. I evaluated several electricians via Angie's List and Darren came out on top so we gave him a call. Darren is very prompt and friendly and really knows the trade. He came out and went over our electrical to-do list and gave us a quote in a few days which we accepted. Darren spent a week at our house quickly getting everything done in a clean and organized manner. He was very careful to minimize the amount of wall drilling and there was never a need to open up a wall. Darren did let us know up front that sometimes electrical work requires opening up a wall. Communications from Darren were excellent and he always kept us in the loop. Luckily, there were no huge electrical surprises although Darren did find a few items that needed to be corrected. This was not a small project and Darren completed it with ease and the work was outstanding. We would have no problem recommending Darren's services to others and I'm sure we'll call him again for our future electrical needs.

Darren was fantastic. He carefully read the inspection report, listened to what we wanted and did the work efficiently and professionally. He arrived promptly, was clean and neat and very pleasant to work with. The next time we have any kind to electrical work to be done, we will call Darren. In fact, we have already planned to have him install a ceiling fan for us. I have been praising Darren to my friends and neighbors. He excels in every way.

Darren was on time all three days and was efficient in his work and effective with his communication. All holes in the wall were kept to the minimum. And he cleaned up after all work. This was a pleasant experience. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

We had a lot of electrical problems for Darren to fix. He replace a bad breaker in our main box, and rewired two breakers in our pool shed. He then created a dedicated 20-amp circuit in our back yard so that we could safely use our electric power washer to clean our redwood fence. As part of this job, he cemented a redwood post in place in the ground to attached the receptacle to. Then, for good measure, he replaced several hard-to-reach light bulbs in our skylight wells, and replaced them with long-life LED bulbs. As always, Darren did a fantastic job on everything!

Darren was great! My parents had moved into an older home and immediately found that the electrical was not in good shape. It was during the last heat wave and they could barely run a fan without popping a fuse. Darren didn't have an available appointment for a couple of weeks, but he realized how miserable the situation was, so he canceled his day off and came within 2 days! He took care of all the permit work before coming then did all the work. After the work was done, there were a few questions and some follow-up and Darren was prompt and responsive. All work has been inspected and signed off by the city. We'll definitely use Darren again when needed.

Darren arrived when he said he would. He quickly & competently sized up the job and got to work. Darren had proper tools and parts to complete job in a timely manner - took less than 1 1/2 hours. That's including one box that was difficult to extract and remount new box. I would sum up Darren's work by saying: He knows what he's doing.

Darren part 2: This is my second review for Darren and everything in my first review applies here including the following: I appreciate being given a start and end time to the work being done and I'm very thankful when a job is completed ahead of schedule. The work Darren has done in my home always appears clean and professional. I don't want anything to visually pop-out when trying to keep true to the age of my 1940's house and I am always thankful for the input Darren gives in this area. Something tells me I'm still not finished with electrical projects for this old house?

We wanted to replace our old fuse boxes in the front hall closet with circuit breakers. Rather than tear up our house since code would require us to move the circuit breaker panel out of the closet and on to the hallway wall, Darren suggested just rehoming our circuits to our existing main breaker box on the outside of the house. This was much less work and far less disruptive to our home. He ran conduit for all wiring up in to our attic and down in to the wall to the fuseboxes. The Fuse boxes are still there, but now function as junction boxes and are secured shut. All the work was done promptly onthe day scheduled even though the original plan was to go under the house with the wiring. Once Darren crawled under the house he realized that all the wiring was actually in the walls and attic and inaccessible from under the house. He was able to adjust his plan on the fly. The only visible change to our house is the addition of a new electrical conduit on the exterior of the house next tothe main circuit breaker panel. As part of the work, he added a junction box in the attic that will allow for adding circuits the day we remodel and upgrade our kitchen. We were very pleased with the work Darren did. He was punctual not only on giving us an estimate, but on getting the work done when scheduled. He was present for the scheduled building inspection and that went without a hitch. He also did a great job of cleaning up afterwards. He even emailed to apologize for forgetting to clean up some fingerprints in the closet that he meant to clean up and offered to take care of that when he came back for the inspection. I will definitely use him again.

Darren was out on vacation when my wife originally contacted him, but he called back upon his return and showed up quickly to look at our issue. He was professional, courteous and was able to quickly diagnose the issue. Although it was obvious he knew what he was doing, he still took the time to listen to my unprofessional assessment and took it into consideration as he looked at the options of fixing the broken outlet. I would definitely hire Darren again and I'm glad we found him.

Let us say that not only we, but the city inspector was pleased with the quality of Darren's work. All wiring was pulled from underneath the house. Conduit in the garage was neatly done. There was thus no need to damage sheetrock, even in situations where Darren was initially not certain. He was able to wire behind the dishwasher without removing it. While doing all this work, Darren always showed up on time, worked quickly, efficiently and thoughtfully throughout the day. He worked quietly, with a minimum of conversation unless he had questions or we addressed questions to him. He answered our questions quickly and solved the occasional challenges of working in our older home. We could have opted out of having an inspection to save money, but we chose to have one and it went perfectly, as noted above. We were thoroughly pleased with Darren's work and would be happy to employ him in the future

It went great. Darren came over, emailed us a quote and followed up with a call to make sure we got it. We scheduled the installation on the same day our hot tub was installed and he was very accomodating. The work was done on time and for the amount quoted. We had all our work permitted and when the inspector had a question about the work, Darren answered the question and actually tought the inspector something during the process. He then followed up with another call to make sure everything was signed of and we happy. I dont think it could have gone any better. Thanks Darren!!
