We have nothing but good things to say about Darren and his work. He was very responsive and professional from the first inquiry to the minute he finished the job. We have just recently bought a house in Oakland and needed a host of things done to both clean up old wiring and mistakes, plus bring it into the 21st century. Darren is a really nice guy, easy to work with, offered us useful advice along the way, and was patient as we worked through the issues. He was punctual and very tidy, plus gave us contacts for other service providers. We highly recommend Darren Kicker and will definitely call him with any future electrical issues arise.

Had main electrical service repaired to a residence. Was initially told by PGE that electrical lines from meter to street had to be replaced. Darren came out and assessed the electrical problem and said he could make a repair to existing conduit and wiring and would pull a permit from the city and have them inspect and sign off on the repair. Job was completed in a very timely manner, even with pulling the permit and I cannot thank Darren enough for his expertise in getting this job done and not having to replace all the wiring from the meter to street. I called Darren to come evaluate the electrical requirements of a DIY oven replacement I'm doing at home. The previous owner left some unorthodox and potentially scary wiring configurations as a surprise for me and I wanted a professional opinion on how best to proceed. He came out and was very thorough in his evaluation and he gave me estimates at several price points - varying based on how much of the work I wanted to do or not do (buying and running cable and parts myself or letting him do all or some of that, etc.) - which was very helpful to me in figuring out what to do next. I decided to do most of the grunt work myself, following his thorough instructions about what was required, and have him come back out and do the final hookup and testing. He was punctual and professional on both occasions he came out. He was thorough and informative when answering the questions I had. I also had him inspect and repair two non-functioning wall sockets in the kitchen - both also due to the previous owner's somewhat cavalier approach to home electrical work. I'm very please with my experiences with Darren Kicker and would absolutely use him again, first choice. Electrical work should not be treated lightly and I will call Darren with any future needs rather than risk having someone less qualified and professional coming out.

My experience was great from beginning to end. I contacted him via email and he responded back within hours, he came out that same day!!! I explained what my issue was which was going to be costly.. He was very knowledgable and gave me a great affordable alternative, which fixed the entire problem. He knew this was a time sensitive issue and he made sure it was done in time. Great guy, great service and great experience. I will call him from now on and I will definitely refer anyone I know to him.

Our kitchen was very dark. It contained just three, recessed, pot lights. Electrician Darren Kicker gave us a very reasonable price quote, for upgrading the lighting, in the kitchen. First; he upgraded the existing three, recessed, incandescent, pot lights to three LED lights. Second; he install an additional four LED lights. He perfectly centered the new lights above (and slightly in front of) the stove, the cupboard and the food preparation areas. Third; he cleaned up behind himself. There was not so much as a stitch of dust or dirt to be found, when he said he was finished. Mrs. Baymon is absolutely delighted, with the work of Electrician Darren Kicker. This is the second time we have employed Mr. Kicker, to solve an electrical problem for us. Once again, he came through with flying colors. Reached out to Darren after another Angie's List provider stated their next availability was over 8 days away. Saw that Darren's preferred means of contact was email. Sent Darren an email and he responded within 30 minutes and was available immediately. I described the problem with the bathroom light, mentioned I had already tried changing the florescent bulbs, which had no effect. Darren quoted $325 in his email response. Darren was at my house within the hour. Darren confirmed the light was broken, and that electricity was reaching the light fitting correctly. The light was 14 years old and had served us well up to this point. Darren did not have a replacement light on his truck, so he went out to Lowes and bought a replacement. On his return he fitted the new light, and the light is working perfectly. Before Darren left, I asked if he could leave the empty box from the new light. That way I would know what he bought and could buy similar lights if/when my other bathroom lights fail. Darren was happy to oblige. I did some research on the replacement light. It is a Utilitech Pro model MXL302. Cost was approx. $30 from Lowes. It is an LED light, which means there are no replacement bulbs. Once the light dies, you must replace the whole light. Not a problem. LED is more efficient and cheaper than florescent, and has a long lifespan (hopefully). The light is also rated for use in damp locations - i.e. ideal for bathrooms. So Darren did a fine job in picking an appropriate replacement light, although he did not consult with me on the exact type of light to use. But I am very happy with his choice. Overall I am extremely pleased with the work carried out by Darren, his timeliness, professionalism and customer service. The only slight complaint I have is that his price is a little on the high side. The light had been out of commission for over 2 weeks because I have been working away from home recently, only returning on weekends. So while I am between assignments and have some time at home, I wanted to get the light fixed and I was not prepared to wait another 8 days for the other provider.

Darren is AWESOME. He's professional, courteous, friendly, and does impeccable work. He arrived on time and worked diligently. I'm going to have him come back to remove an old outdoor lighting fixture in my patio and install a new one. I would absolutely recommend him.

He was right on time on both visits. He did work another electrician said needed extensive retiring, when it turned out it didn't. So honest to not have done extra work to drive up the prince.Couldn't have been happier with his demeanor and professionalism.Great to find a contractor who is a credit to his trade.

He worked hard to run the wires. He is a small electrician. I would recommend him and I was very happy with him. He had reversed a couple of wires and paid me for having the furnace guy to fix it. He felt bad and just did it.

Never returned a phone call after offering a job. Perhaps he is just too busy but it would have been nice to get a call back, I had to sit around for two days waiting before calling someone else.,

Wow I could not be more pleased. Darren made me an appointment within my very tight schedule, showed up early (as advertised!) is obviously very intelligent and enterprising. Did the work, did a few extra but necessary things, I wish I could find a plumber like him! Anything like him. He's smart and willing and skilled. Hire this guy, you won't be disappointed. Now I'm looking at all the other electrical work I need done....

Darren arrived within the time window arranged and saw that the kitchen outlet was totally fried. He purchased a new outlet and it was installed very quickly. I also asked if he felt we needed a new electrical panel, but he advised we had the type which has not been a problem. I appreciate Darren's honesty and quick response to my email request for service. We would definitely call him again in the future.

The first day it was raining but Darren came prepared with proper weather gear. He explained why the old light fixture wasn't working any longer, showed me new ones online, and after choosing what I wanted, he picked it up, came back promptly, and installed the new light fixture. At dusk when the light came one, the "eye" caught just enough of the back of the white gutter to cause it to blink instead of staying constant. I contacted Darren and he came back out the next day, did some trouble shooting, and the light is working just like it should! Darren was on time, friendly, & professional. He was also patient and explained answers to my questions so that I got a clear picture and understood any issues to my satisfaction.

To start with Darren was on time, early actually, and came prepared with all that he needed to get the job done. He worked quickly and efficiently. I have never seen an electrical panel done as nicely as he did one, it's absolutely amazing how clean and organized it is. The work on the additional requested outlets was done as requested. The coach lights are set in a great spot and the switch for them was added inside where I wanted it to go. I have never seen an electrician with more attention to detail. In addition, his communication was outstanding and was eager to answer any and all questions that I had. He also had no problems with me working around him on a re-plumbing job I am working on in my garage. I'd recommend Darren to anyone who needed any sort of electrical work done and he will be my first and only call when I need more work done in the future. For the price, quality of work, professionalism, and communication skills, you simply cannot go wrong working with Darren.

Both experiences have been great! I've also got an estimate for a bigger project and will have him coming back as soon as my budget allows. Actually, I have a list of projects I will be calling Darren on this next year. I completely recommend him for your electrical needs.
