Darren Kicker's Affordable & Reliable Electrical

As always happens, an electrical problem surfaced on a Sunday morning. We contacted Darren and he was quick to respond. This is the second time we've called upon him for assistance and he has been great to work with. Promises kept, prices are right. Will call upon him again!

Darren was wonderful to work with. Very easy to communicate with via email and was punctual and professional. He helped us with many electrical issues and dealt with them all in a very timely fashion. Darren made it a big job; he spent an hour and charged me $500 (hardly affordable as he advertises). he said he always charges $185 to come out and a minimum of $315 to do work, no matter how small a job it is. An hour after he left the electricity went out in my living room. When I called Darren he said that was a different problem and he would again charge me a minimum of $500. Instead I found an excellent electrician who worked through the whole problem. It took him 1-1/2 hours and he charged me $180. I was delighted.

Darren was clear and direct during the initial email exchanges, asked good questions, and quoted a fair price. He was on time (actually he was early, but not overly so), polite, professional, and tidy. It was a delight having him in my home.

Outstanding. He helped move the oven into the cabinet on the first appointment, and replaced the breaker box in a morning.

Great, we we're able identify 70amps to free up by installing a gas dryer and stove (which we we were planning to change anyway) and saved me the added expense of adding a new service.

Darren did a good job, but the charge was outrageous: $300 for only one hour's worth of work. Never again!

I called for help when the garage doors wouldn't work. Darren showed up early, diagnosed the problem, and then diagnosed and agreed to fix a second problem (burned out breaker). As he looked at things, he constantly updated me on each added cost item. He then did the repair work efficiently and wrapped up the job inside his original time estimate. Very competent, friendly, and with transparent pricing.

We bought a money pit a year ago and the initial inspection did not call out any electric problems, oh were they wrong. The main service was original and in bad shape, the distribution panel has all sorts of patches and old breakers. I decided to go with a 200 amp upgrade but all the code requirements drove up the cost. Darren spent the time to explain it all and propose the solution. We agreed on the price, he started the job in a few weeks and finished in three days. I did have some scope creep but Darren took it in stride, we agreed on what to do and it all came out wonderful. I recommend Darren for any electrical needs you have, be aware he is a one man show, so be flexible since he is good enough to be very busy. The key is to get a fixed price bid that covers everything you need done, it will seem expensive but in the end he is very competitive.

Darren is Great! This was the 3rd time we had him do work for us and he is top notch! Our guest room had no light fixture, he added a ceiling fixture and installed a fan/light combo and a new triple switch. He was punctual, worked quickly and quietly and left the room spotless.

Overall, we were unhappy with the high charge for what appeared to be a rather simple operation. My recommendation would be that people compare costs with other people. Basically this was my wife and myself, and we were disappointed with the high cost of the service compared to what we felt was a rather simple installation of one outlet. As we found out when we went on the web and searched on Yelp, there are a lot of other electricians out there on Yelp who seem to be charging maybe half or even a third of what he was charging. While he did the work appropriately, he did install the line appropriately, both my wife and I felt that the charge was out of line with the going rate. Usually we had really good experiences with Angie's List people. He did the work and the outlet is working fine, but the charge was far more than we feel was warranted because it was a very simple installation. The price was excessive. He did the work and he did it well. He's a good electrician. I don't doubt his skills. He was careful and meticulous. I would definitely not use him again.

I can't say enough about Darren and his work. He was on time, friendly, and performed excellent work.

Darren came to our house in Benicia and was punctual. He stuck to the price he gave before starting the work. Everything was done professionally and efficiently. Took about 4 hours and the charge was $950. He seemed very knowledgeable and experienced and I would highly recommend him.

We had a problem with a single outlet that was sparking. I asked vendor to fix it and evaluate the electrical systems overall. since we had found this one issue He was flexible and punctual. He fixed the one outlet no problem. He checked the panels and identified a couple of other minor issues e.g., Romex below 7ft. He didn't identify a couple of other outlets that were not functioning I followed up with him. He indicated that a) no one told him about the problems and b) checking the outlets isn't part of an electrical system evaluation. I would not use him again and couldn't recommend him

Darren's great. He communicates at the speed of light via email, which for us is preferred. He was patient as we walked him through a series of potential jobs and prepped different quote options for us to provide options for us to move forward with, clearly outlining the pros and cons of different approaches. He was on time, every time, and the jobs completed over space of two days, complete with permits and inspections. Through no fault of his own, on the first day a faulty breaker from the manufacturer wasn't detected until early evening for our in law unit, and he even came back that night and fixed it so that part of the house wasn't without power overnight! That was service above and beyond what we ever would have expected. I can't recommend him highly enough for his professional manner, speedy response times and quality of work. Definitely will use Darren again to fix the hokey prior owners electrical handiwork and make future improvements.

I was very impressed-Great! Darren was efficient, clean, had the supplies needed to get the job done and was professional. He provided additional suggestions for when we call him back to do the next round of work to be done after we get our painting and other remodeling work completed.

Darren was very easy and pleasant to work with. He scheduled a free estimate very quickly after my first call. He arrived promptly (or even early) for that and every subsequent appointment. He delivered the estimate within one day, and came the following day to clarify and add to the scope of the estimate. His price was very competitive to two other estimates we received, and he also made several suggestions about how to break our long list of needs into stages and how to keep the costs of the first stage low. He was available over the weekend (while out of town on vacation) to schedule work to start the following week. He worked efficiently and was done within a day and a half. We then had to call him back *twice* for things that either we forgot initially or that were added by other things going on in the house (a dishwasher installation surprise). Both times he was happy to give me a quote over the phone, and he squeezed our work in the very next day. Darren gets major bonus points for simply being a very nice guy and a pleasure to have around the house. I have two small children, both of whom were sick in bed one of the days of work, and Darren gladly took off his shoes every time he came inside and worked cleanly, quietly (he used power tools, of course, but no loud phone conversations, stomping around or blaring music, etc.) and with low impact on our daily activities. A wonderful experience from start to finish!

He spent the time to explain how the fans work. He endured that they did not wobble. Highly recommend Darren for any electrical needs.

Darren's awesome. I think this is the third or fourth job he's done for me. Darren installed wiring in both bedroom ceilings, assembled ceiling fans (that I had already purchased) and installed ceiling fans. He does an amazing job. He's punctual, professional, meticulous and clean. I already have more jobs lined up for him.
