Darren Kicker's Affordable & Reliable Electrical

Darren replied to request quickly and we set up a visit to do estimate 8 am on a Wednesday morning. He arrived before 7:30 and was waiting in his van out front. I saw him shortly after 7:30 so we got started before the appointment time. He clearly and quickly saw what was needed and how to go about it most efficiently, made an estimate which sounded great to me. He asked if we wanted him to do it the same morning. I said sure. He went and got materials and had the job finished by about 11:15 am. Work is neat, professional, and works fine. Great job, really nice guy, would have him do more work in a heartbeat!

I called Darren to give me an estimate to do some upgrading of the electrical in my house. I found him to be the nicest guy I have ever met. I had lots of concerns and questions for him and he really took the time to answer my questions and give me great feedback. He is very professional and boy is he ever on time, early to every appointment !!! He walked me through the job that he was going to do for me and just really made me feel great about hiring him. I felt very confident in his abilities and he did a really great job. I trusted his knowledge and expertise and he did not disappoint. The job went well and was finished exactly when he expected to finish and passed inspection on the first try. Thank you so much for the great job.

Darren did an excellent job. He was responsive from the beginning to end. We actually had him come out twice, once for the outlets, and again for the fan and thermostat installation. He arrived both times at the house before we did. In fact, the first time I was late and Darren had left already. I was able to reach him on his cell phone and he turned around and came back. Darren's prices are reasonable and for fan and thermostat installation were actually cheaper that another place I called. (I did not get an estimate from another place for the other work.) Additionally, he was able to come quickly, whereas the other place I called would take 3 weeks. The work he did looked good. He communicated well and made sure that he knew how we wanted things done. We got an estimate from him for some recessed lighting, and Darren had some great suggestions for the ancient florescent light in the hallway that was covering the attic access. Once we get settled into our "new" house, we'll be calling Darren again for our future projects.

I was very worried about the wiring catching on fire. Older house Darren checked everything. He answered all my questions and was very kind. He was very clean. It was the first time in years that a service was on time ! I will hire him again in a second!

I am soooo glad I found Darren Kicker via AngiesList. Darren was super laid back and easy to talk to from the very first contact, and his price was ~$1500K less than the 1st quote I had gotten, and things just got BETTER from there. I bought a Chevy Volt and was eligible for a free charging unit via Chevy's partner SPX ($2500 value). When their subcontracted Electrician came he could see clearly I needed a panel upgrade my 70 Amp panel was not gonna cut it, but his 125A upgrade price seemed high. So I got another quote from someone, a little bit shady sounding on the phone, and it was much less but still seemed more than what I thought it was worth to get the free charger. After couple more calls I Finally found Darren, his price for 125 Amp panel was so much less that I decided to go 200amp panel instead still ~1K less than the first quote. Anyway super cool, mellow, punctual and does awesome quality work. We had a funky situation with our drainage pipe and we did not like where the line upgrade would be situated. Darren found a solution and grabbed some more supplies and it looked great. Anyway, high quality work at very competitive rates, was always on time and friendly each day, trusted him with my keys and he even kept an eye on my house while other heating guys were to show up and I could not wait around for them.I highly recommend Darren and already I am having him quote some other things we need done around the house. On a side note: Sign off from inspector was a pain. I live outer Sunset SF and this inspector came in said nice work for Darren's scope but then walked down my garage looking for things to fine me for violations. We were shocked that they could do that, I just bought the house so this is stuff I had nothing to do with. Darren was able to work with me to keep any added costs down that this inspector wanted.

It's very difficult to find an electrician that is willing to work on ceiling fans, but Darren replaced a motor in a large Emerson ceiling fan for us, and came up with a creative solution for eliminating an annoying rubbing noise. He also installed an attic fan and switch for us, installed fluorescent lighting in the attic, and upgraded our fluorescent lighting in our laundry room. I get the feeling that Darren would be able to handle just about any of the typical homeowner electrical problems that I could throw at him. Darren is easy to work with and very professional, his costs are reasonable and moderate ... plus he is nice people too!

I contacted Darren Kicker of Darren Kicker's Reliable and Affordable Electrical and asked him to take care of some electrical problems at one of my rental properties. We met at the home and he repaired the problems. The project went very well.

I hired Darren based on the great reviews that he had on Angie's list. As most of his other reviews state, Darren was early to both hie estimate appointment and when he came out to do the work. He came out, removed the old service and installed the new one. The new one is 250 amps. He also installed (2) 220 volt 60 amp circuits for each kiln in the garage . I was really impressed by the way he methodically laid out the job and performed the work. Clearly he has done this for many years. I really liked his professional attitude and his ability to walk me through exactly what he was going to do and how he was going to do it. I highly recommend him to anyone in need of an electrician. All around great guy and very affordable.

I received a few bids from other highly regarded electricians on Angie's List. While Darren's was slightly higher (but still very reasonable) than a couple I received, he was by far the most responsive. I used this criteria to select him over the other bids, and I'm glad I did. As an architect, I can be very particular about little details that most people wouldn't concern themselves with, and Darren was very patient in working through them with me. I appreciated his advice and professionalism in every aspect of the job.

Darren was so pleasant to work with. He always shows up early for our appointments. I asked him to give me an estimate to completely rewire my house including the installation of the new service main. He walked me through the whole thing and was very helpful with the planning. He helped me figure out where the best locations for the lights both inside and outside of the house which was very helpful. His commitment to the job and his very professional attitude really made me and my wife very happy. This was a big job and we really felt comfortable with him. His bid was about 20% cheaper than the other guys. I would give him an A+ if I could.

Darren wanted to start work same day as giving estimate. Then day after estimate, then contacted me several times after asking to start work. Estimate to fix problems in garage and subpanel were almost as high as the cost of putting in a new subpanel, and some problems stated were really not problems. Estimate to install lights in back was higher than the electrician I hired, and included cutting the living room walls open to run wires, which would have to be patched by another contractor. Electrician I hired ran wires under house and inside walls so the walls were not cut open to run wires, saving a big mess and another contractor. Stated I could only install motion lights or flourescent lights, which is not true and not what I wanted. He really scared me stating strongly the serious hazards and pushing me to let him start work immediately. I was surprised at the various opinions by five electricians I've had look at the whole house situation since purchasing this house, and am happy with the second electrician I finally hired to complete and inspect the work I needed from the first lousy contractor I hired by someone's recommendations. Darren wanted $1650 to fix first contractors work and remaining conditions in the garage and subpanel which he stated were "life threatening", and this did not include putting in a new subpanel. A whole new subpanel is $1800. I didn't find him affordable or reliable, but high pressure. 7/17/12 I changed this rating from D to F after his waking me with a call @ 6:15 this morning upset with my review, emailing @ 9:30 and the details of his response here. Apparently I was difficult because I was getting several estimates before hiring anyone. He DID want to start work the same day he came to give an estimate, then while here for the estimate wanted to start the next day (before I had the estimate in writing), he DID call as well as email asking when he could start. Three other electricians went over the problems in the subpanel, showing them to me, and none thought I was in danger, as Darren still insists. There were no bare wires coming from the meter. The hole into the house is larger and not filled in, so he claimed the wire could rub against it and become bare eventually. Some neutral wires had to be rearranged and one aluminum wire needed coating, and I have two new breakers to correct problems, but the subpanel and grounding were not life threatening hazards. I had the electrical issues reviewed by Smario Electric, QLR electric, Allphase and Redwood besides Kicker, so I think at least one of them would have told me I had a life threatening situation besides Darren Kicker. Three out of the five did call me after giving an estimate to see if they could start the work. I did see a lot of good reviews for Kicker, and that's why I was so scared after his review of my situation, but almost all of the reviews are for little jobs. He saw a lot of money to be made at my house, maybe from hearing/seeing my experience with the first one I hired (Parker Electric): Darren's estimates totalled $2,525. The electrician I hired after reviewing the same issues cost $850.

Signed up for Angie's list specifically to find a good electrician. There were several to choose from and lots of them with A ratings. I chose Darren Kicker's Affordable & Reliable Electric because I like exactly those qualities and there were several glowing reviews. I also wanted to choose someone that was not too far away because I didn't want someone inflating the price on me for having to drive a long way. I contacted Darren via his website. He immediately responded and we coordinated a date for him to come by. He was prompt and right on time. I love that! (Hate waiting and hearing excuses of why service providers are not on time or not able to make it.) Darren is very responsive and flexible with me working around my wonky work schedule. The problem was a bad switch on my fuse panel. I have a common brand of panel for homes built in the 60's, and he was knowledgeable about the problems with Bryant panels. The total time - from his arrival to the time it was fixed - was less than 5 minutes! Immediately impressed me. I will be replacing the panel this summer and will be using Darren Kicker for that job as well. Thanks to Angie's List for being a great resource to find great service providers!

My husband who is very particular was pleased with his work and stated he would have him back for other work in the future! What a relief and change from usual husband feedback on home maintenence workers we have hired!

I was extremely pleased with Darren and his work. I was hesitant to call at first because it was a fairly small job. However, Darren treated the job with professionalism and promptness. His focus was completely on fixing the issue I was having. I would absolutely call Darren again for my next job.

We had Darren install a ceiling fan in our bedroom. Darren was a real pleasure to deal with, and we had the best feeling about him among the various estimates we got for the work. He was very accommodating with our schedule, arrived on time on the date specified and got the work done even quicker than he estimated. He was very careful moving his tools and ladder in and out of the house, and took care not to get insulation from the attic down into the house. There was pretty much no cleanup necessary by us. The quality of the installation was great, and the fan is working perfectly and keeping us cool. Very happy with the work and with Darren, and we've already scheduled to have him back to deal with some other electrical issues around the house.

Everything was great from start to finish. He showed up early, was very professional and courteous. Asked the appropriate questions and answered all inquiries promptly.

It always goes great with Darren handling your electrical. No surprises he is always on top of a project.

Darren was right on time for our appointment, in fact he was 15 minutes early. I have used his company before and am very pleased with his service. Darren is always punctual, professional and affordable. He came in and looked at the work that I needed, gave me an estimate which I accepted. He performed the work the same day. I am very pleased with the work he did as well as the cost of having the work done. I will surely be giving him a call again soon. Great job Darren !!!

Darren was fantastic. I called him for an estimate and he came in looked over the inspection report, looked at the work that the original electrician started (and refused to complete since it seemed far more extensive), gave me a reasonable price, and completed the work that day. I felt very comfortable and safe now with all the problems dealt with... He did a fantastic job!

Darren responded quickly to my email request, met me at the work site and finished the project the next day. He was always on-time for the appointments [actually, a few minutes early...], explained the project in detail, kept me informed via cell phone calls. The end result is of very high quality. I will ask Darren again for future projects, and highly recommend him.

I emailed Darren through Angie's List and got a response the same day. Darren was able to give me a quote over email (which I appreciate) after some back and forth on the details. He was able to come the next day to do the work, which was great. He arrived on time, got right to work and everything went really well. He and I both had to make runs up to Home Depot because unfortunately the light fixtures I purchased from there had missing pieces and one light was actually broken. Darren was able to show me what was going on with the ceiling fan lights and come up with a fix for a missing piece of the fan light cover that had been thrown away (months earlier by my teenage son). Darren discussed with me how and where he was going to install the lights on either side of the garage, which turned out really nice. Overall, I'm very pleased with the work and would call him back for work again.

We had a bunch of small items on our punch list from when we moved into our new home. We finally got around to it and selected Darren based on his Angie's List reviews. He literally just left and I signed on to post this review because the majority reviews are true. Darren Kicker does A+ work. He was punctual, professional and friendly. You can read the other reviews if you want more detail. No point in simply repeating all the things everyone else has said. The best thing I can say is I think we found our go to electrician for all issues in the future. I will definitely be using him in the future.

Darren, is extremely prompt and efficient ! His work is impeccable and leaves work area cleaner than it was earlier. He is always polite, professional, and prepared to work.

I had an appointment to come out and install 2 more remote controlled ceiling fans in my house. I looked out my window 20 minutes before he was supposed to be here and saw that his truck was already parked out front. He waited until exactly 8:30 and rang the bell. As before he did an excellent job on the installation. Very professional, and a great guy to have work at my house. I will surely recommend him to my friends.
