He was very good, very professional, on time, did the work quickly, and did quality work over all.

Darren was prompt, professional and provided expert guidance to the electrical solutions needed in our 1940's house. He provided counsel on bringing all needed electrical updates to code standards, handled the permitting process (which passed inspection without any problems) and communicated with me throughout the course of the work. One thing I value with any service is communication and Darren confirmed all appointments and delivered on all services as contracted which made this project a breeze. And, he's a great guy!

How'd it go? Absolutely fantastic! Darren is a throwback to a different age, when businesses were honest and they cared about the customer. He was polite, punctual, and more affordable than I would have ever imagined an electrician would be. He told me it was a half day job, he was here for 2hours and 5 minutes. I provided the lights and bulbs.$432.50 dollars an hour is way to much. If you use him GO HOURLY.

Darren was on time,neat and clean about his work. finished his job in a timely manner. He returned when he saud he would to finish installing the fan and light fixtured to had not arrived for the first day of work. He even put in a light fisture in the hallway that was not on the estimate with addilng an extra charge. Everything is working well and I feel safe knowing the job was done right. Will not hesitate to call him again or recommend him.

We had a bit of a hiccup during our scheduled estimate, but Darren was quick to fix the situation and went out of his way to get the estimate done. Darren gave a fair and comparable estimate that was within budget for our project. Once we decided to move forward with Darren, he was on time and punctual. He was able to take care of the family room and living room all on the first day. The second day was just a half's day work on the kitchen and address light. Darren was very professional, clean and knowledgeable. He made great suggestion for placement and also accommodated any slight changes to the project. He was also able to detect a fire hazard in our previous kitchen lighting and fixed the situation. life saver. He was very nice to my wife and kids (toddlers). The boys referred to him as "the man with the hammer thing" We will definitely refer Darren and ask him to work on more of our future projects. Thanks again Darren! Side Note: Darren has to sometimes cut a hole into the drywall for access and he does not patch or clean up the holes (understandable, it's not his job scope). No problem at all. He has a referral for getting that fixed.

Darren was punctual for our estimate meeting and then performed all work in a very efficient manner. We were very pleased with the quality of the work and would recommend Darren to anyone who needs electrical work without hesitation.

I contacted Darren based on the reviews here on Angie's List - I was not disappointed. He's a super friendly guy, and showed up on time in the early a.m. to take a look at some electrical work required for my daughter's bedroom. He came back with a reasonable quote, so I opted to have him perform the work that morning. I also asked that he take a look at some other things around my home, because it was a bank-owned house before I bought it - and although it had been extensively remodeled/updated, some of the work was shoddy and not to code. I'd already had the most critical work done to make the house safe; however, Darren discovered that the track lighting and various other new light fixtures in the kitchen had not been installed to code, and some work was needed to bring everything up to code. He gave me a fair price - unfortunately the work came as an unwelcome surprise, but I decided to get it done because it was most definitely a fire hazard, so I'm glad he found it. He was efficient and thorough.

We had 2 rooms and a bathroom that lost power. After cycling our breaker and the problem not being fixed, we called Darren. Darren quickly found the problem, and obviously knew what he was doing. He didn't waste any time and the whole thing was a lot quicker than expected. Everything works great now, and the price was very reasonable.

Darren was well prepared and did a fantastic job!!!! He's the only electrician we'll call from now on!

The three things I look for on hiring a contractor are performance to quality, cost, and schedule commitments. Darren arrived on schedule, completed the job on time, at the agreed upon price, and at the level of quality that was expected. In addition, he provided good advice that actually cut his fees. What more can you ask?

We just bought our first house, and we needed to address the unsafe electrical issues before we moved in. Darren was the quickest to respond to our inquires (I called 3 companies I found on Angie's List.) I'm sure the other Angie's List companies are just fine, but one company simply couldn't come give us an estimate before we moved in so we didn't have much interaction with them. The other company, who shall remain nameless, was just over-the-top in what he said we needed to do, how difficult it would be, how long it would take (at least a week), and when he could get the work started (1-2 weeks.) This guy said he couldn't figure out an easy way to remove the subpanels from the bathroom to another location, and would probably have to cut a great big hole in the drywall (like the size of a door), requiring a contractor to patch it back up. Darren, on the other hand, was amazing. He was always early, unfailingly polite and professional, clearly took pride in his work, listened carefully and shared his knowledge and recommendations (even when it meant advising against his financial interests, i.e., not trying to scare us into having to do more work or unnecessary upgrades), took a lot of time to explain what he was doing, answer my questions, and provide thoughtful recommendations, AND his quote was the cheapest. Plus, he thoroughly cleaned up after himself! Darren was able to start work immediately, and it took about a day and a half. I felt very comfortable with him there while I was home, and equally comfortable leaving him in the house alone when I had to go to work. It was great to just come home and find the scary bathroom fuse box & funky circuit breaker panel neatly closed up, and a brand-spanking-new subpanel located in the hall/pass-through between the kitchen and dining room. No big gaping holes in the wall! Darren Kicker is now our go-to guy for any electrical work we need to have done. He truly is both reliable, and affordable!

Darren returned my call in about an hour, making an appointment with me the next morning. About 20 minutes before his appt., he called to confirm he was on his way. Arriving on time, I showed him where the breaker panel and the main power circuits were and explained that we lost power to the bathroom outlets. I had swapped out the GFI switch but it didn't correct it. He had to do a lot of troubleshooting to locate the problem, and using the process of elimination he finally had a solution. His price was very fair and his work was very professional. He addressed all my questions and answered them thoroughly. The fix required some rerouting and he took the harder route to save damaging the walls. I would recommend Darren to any of my friends and won't hesitate to call him if and when I need an electrician again.

I called a few electricians off of Angie's List and Darren was the first to respond and to make the appointment with me. The problem was an electrical circuit in my yard which involved pool lights, a pole light and receptacle, and my landscape lighting. He came early, traced the problem to a breaker on the sub-panel which looked like it was okay, but actually was faulty. He quickly got the circuit back on line. After he left, I discovered that the receptacle on the pole light was still not working. I called him back and he returned the next day (on a Sunday) to troubleshoot it to a poorly wired receptacle. He replaced it at no additional charge. I would recommend Dan for his promptness and professionalism.

I found Darren on Angie's List and I couldn't be more delighted with my experience! I had three different providers out to the house for estimates and Darren's was the most competitive, which we were thrilled by as we liked him best out of the three. I was further thrilled when Darren told us he would be able to start the following Monday and would likely finish all the work within 1 day. I bought my house a little less than a year ago and I had wanted to get this work done from the day I moved in, but life happens and you get busy so I never got around to it. So by the time I finally felt motivated to call electricians I wanted the work done ASAP. Darren to the rescue! Darren arrived on time and began work immediately. He was very thorough and precise in his process. His years of experience (22 of them!) were clearly evident in his work. He navigated our attic with ease and even found a potential fire hazard he was able to repair that same day (our home inspection did not include a full review of the attic and I never had anyone else out to the house to inspect the attic more thoroughly. It was such a relief to finally have someone up there to assure me that all was safe). I found myself watching Darren execute much of the work in admiration. He makes it look so easy! Everything was completed to perfection with little to no disturbance to my home. We could not be happier and would recommend Darren to anyone in need of electrical work!

Called Darren to get a bid on a home electrical job installing two new front lights on each side of the garage doors. He called right away, came when he said he would to give a bid, and was very pleasant sending a bid by email within six hours. Very friendly and professional. Another bid came in a little lower, and Darren said he would match it. Told him I had already promised it to the other company and he was pleasant about the situation. Would definitely think of using him in the future due to the experience I had with him.

Over the weekend of the 12th and 13th of January 2013, we experienced an outlet failure in our kitchen. Within a few days, the outlet that our Microwave/Convection oven used failed and then a few days later, the surge protected outlet failed as well. We had moved our Microwave/Convection oven to an outlet near our Wet bar. Our coffee pot is in the same room. When I mad coffee and used the oven at the same time, it tripped the circuit. It also happens that my Oxygen Concentrator was on the same circuit. My wife and I were planning to have the electrical problems looked into when the weather got warmer, but the circuit tripping incident on my oxygen prompted us to get someone out quick. I settled on Mr. Kicker because of his reviews. I am reluctant to use Angie's List because I've tried three times for three different Arborists to come look at a root issue we have and none even gave us the courtesy of a call back. Mr. Kicker called back in less than 24 hours. He was prompt, professional, and courteous. He did what my wife and I needed done quickly, but more importantly, thoroughly. His Company Phone number is already entered into our phone's contact list.

After phoning Darren, he met me for a prelim inspection the next day at the property. He provided his estimate later in the day. Given his expediency, pricing and scheduling availability, I decided to go with Darren over another provider. Darren was punctual every morning, performing the work in 2.5 days. He was very clear in his communication and made sure to verify positioning of the lighting in each room. He found a wiring/fire issue with aluminum wires not being properly terminated and fixed it for a nominal fee, documenting the before and after. I'm extremely satisfied with the work performed. Lighting can change the look of a room. The house looks great! I strongly recommend Darren Kicker's Electrical.

Darren's service and the quality of his work were impeccable. He came to the house and gave us a detailed estimate of the work we requested, including the cost of the required permit from the City of Walnut Creek. He was responsive and receptive to our continued questions, before we even decided to have him do the work. Once we committed to Darren, he made himself available to begin the work within about a week. The first thing he did was get the work permit from the city, which was a huge relief to me! I thought I would have to navigate that task myself. On the first day, he removed the old sub panel and replaced it with a shiny new panel that would accommodate the additional circuits. This included cutting a larger hole in the drywall which ended up needing some patching. He was meticulous about repairing it and cleaning up the drywall mess at the end of the day. The next day he installed three new ceiling fans. When we discovered that the fourth fan was not what we wanted, he offered to come back when it arrived - even though we didn't expect it until a week after the other work was completed. Later, when he was working on the new outlets, I mentioned that we had a touch lamp that would not turn on. He took a look and quickly determined that it needed a replacement part. When he arrived the next day, he had the part and promptly replaced it for me. Darren's work style was impressive. He asked a lot of questions about our needs to ensure that we were setting things up in a way that would work well for us. And, he was very deliberate about the order in which he did things so that he wouldn't waste time or have to repeat steps. He was also very careful about safety - especially around my small children who wanted to watch his every move and asked a lot of questions! Throughout the whole process, we changed our minds a few times about where to place circuits and outlets. Darren just went with the flow and altered his course as we asked, all the while being mindful that things would still work within the parameters of the permit he requested. He was also careful to point out some things I needed to do before the inspector arrived and when I was unable to fully complete some of those items, he helped me finish. And, on the day of the inspection, while waiting for the inspector, I asked him about how I could plug in our holiday lights. He showed me how I could do it with an existing outdoor lamp, but then offered that he could install a weather safe outlet on the outside wall. In no time, he installed the outlet, complete with safety cover and indoor switch. One additional thing I really liked about Darren's style was that the payments were scheduled according to completion of tasks and the final payment was not due until the city inspector signed off on the work. I have already recommended Darren to friends, and will surely contact him for our future electrical needs.

I had three exterior outlets installed, showed him where, he asked great appropriate questioned, gave a prompt quote and offered to install right away. Left to get parts and returned within 30 minutes to perform job. Cleaned up so that you could not even tell work was done. Great experience highly recommend

Darren's performance was impecable. He always arrived ahead of the prescribed time and his work is nothing less than outstanding. Darren performed this work in my absence and I felt that he could be trusted completely. We were right. All work was completed on schedule and exactly the way we discussed it. I will have Darren do all our follow-up work in the future and would highly recommend him to anyone. He has a background in electrical engineering as well which greatly enhances his ability to assess a job and determine the optimum method of approach.

After I read all the reviews I decided to go with his company. It was nearly impossible to contact him. But this is not something we needed to do right away I just tried to contact him whenever I had time. When I was researching in August, on the phone he gave me an estimate of under $400 for whole job (he said most jobs for the my situation), but one month later it actually cost $500. It might have been our house is very special case, but on the phone he was quite confident. So it was bit more than we thought but we wanted to do it and he was reviewed so well, we decided go for it. We have a crawlspace between first floor and second floor, but he decided to go with making little cut to our ceiling and connected wires to switch. And this might be normal procedure for electric work but I just wondered about it now. I think over all it went good, but I was little unhappy about the price went up on the day (it might not his fault) and time I had to spend to contact him.
