CMS Handyman Service

It went fine. Not much to tell. I called on this Big Deal, made an appointment, the man showed up on time and did the work. End of story.

I purchased an Angie's List "Deal" for handyman services. I attempted to contact CMS Handyman Service numerous times, leaving messages each time. CMS did not return any of my calls over the course of several months so I complained and my purchase was refunded by Angie's List. I do not know the quality of this company's work, but since they didn't have the courtesy to respond to my calls I would not attempt to use them again in the future. Since this was a service which was pre-paid, I had a higher expectation that CMS would respond in some fashion, even if it was to tell me he wouldn't be able to honor the "Deal" he signed up for with Angie's List.

I tried to contact them twice and Angie's List tried once and they never returned any calls or emails.

I purchased 2 interior paint big deals, but the painting never happened. I had given the big deals to a friend, and due to a death in the family, they were unable to use them. I reached out to ask if they would honor them beyond the expiration date and they were very nice and said yes. I didn't have a plan to use them myself, so finding dates and rooms got complicated and I had a hard time getting anyone to respond to my attempts to schedule. I had to change the scheduled date a couple of times, which I am sure was frustrating for them, but then they just stopped responding to my calls and emails.

CMS Handyman Service & Michael Haakenson were fantastic, can not say enough about his company.

CMS did an excellent job.

The gentle man came as promised and on time. He worked quietly all day. He took precautions to cover and protect everything.

Handyman came and regrouted the area I asked him to and did a good job.

Called to schedule an appointment to utilize the Angie's List Big Deal to paint one room for $99. Handyman arrived when promised and discussed that the coupon covered painting the room, but patching the few larger drywall holes and the doors/trim would be extra. We agreed to the additional cost. We provided the paint, and he provided all other supplies. The room was painted, he cleaned up thoroughly, and there was no unwanted paint / splatter anywhere.We were extremely please the the quality of the work and the professionalsm. Would definatley use again and recommend to friends.

Disappointment that the man didn't have plaster and plaster tape with him to do the job.

We bought an Angie's List deal for countertop caulking from CMS. It took a while to schedule, but once we were able to set a time everything went smoothly. The work was excellent. He stayed over the 3 hours to finish the job without charging us extra. Months later there are absolutely no issues.

Daryl arrived on time to our meeting and came to access the decks. He knows a lot about building and refinishing decks....since his company does specializes in repairs and maintenance. I really hadn't maintained our painted, wooden deck for over 7 years and it was showing the neglect!! His communication was excellent...both phone and e-mail and got back to me asap! We set up a date and they arrived on time and finished in less than a week. Daryl is a knowledgeable person with construction and repair and also has built houses! That makes a difference! He has a nice personality and I felt very comfortable working with him throughout the process! Raul and another guy (sorry...forgot his name!) worked on replacing the boards, headers and rails. They did a great job! The deck is all smooth, shiny and white!! They were very meticulous with the details of the deck and took great care to see that my surrounding plants were protected from the paint. They really knew what they were doing and they were working in the blazing Valley heat of 102 degrees plus!!! Raul brought a big cooler with ice so I didn't have to worry about bringing them water, etc! They never once asked to use the bathroom so I assume it they waited or whatever guys do without a john!! lol All in all, they did a fabulous job and appreciated the care that they took in everything!! Daryl personally installed the beam in the upstairs deck with precision and it looks like it was built that way!! Couldn't be happier with all of the work they did. I would highly recommend Daryl and CMRS to anyone!

Short and simple-- it went well from start to finish.

The grouting job is now discolored and it is cracking in one of the bathrooms so much that I am afraid it will begin to leak. He did come back out promptly to look at it. I was told that he would have to go back to the office and get his calendar then call me back to make an appointment. I have called and emailed several times after. He has not responded to either.

The painting was very good and we are very pleased with it but the tile grout is starting to come off. Also, the caulking on the bottom of the shower is peeling off. We wouldn’t use them again.

The handyman did a great job but I had to supply my own materials which required a quick trip to the store. I do plan on using them again.

MIke and his crew were great! Excellent communication so that I always knew what was going on. Easy to talk to about ideas and Mike and his Dad are super knowledgeable about possibilities.

I used Big Deal coupon from angieslist. This was my second time using CMS. I forgot the painters name, but he works for CMS. He was efficient, neat and friendly. Excellent job. I had to pay ($20) for the blue tape and plastic covering so overall it was $120 for one room that would've taken me all day. Highly recommended for larger jobs.

When I called to schedule the deal Danny informed me that it would be an additional cost for window trim, the ceiling, and the doors. I scheduled the appointment and then when they came they informed me it would be an additional cost to move the furniture. I decided not to have them to the work and got a refund for the Deal.

I had a small laundry room-pantry re configured and remodeled, after the carpentry was done i had taped some paint chips to the wall for about 6 months, thinking i would get it done myself. (not). Finally i decided to paint a fairly bright pink matching a hue in the pantry shelf curtain fabric. -I happened to pay attention to the Angie's ad, and impulsively set up the 99$ paint job. I wish i remembered the guy's name who came to paint he was really chipper tall clean cut college type guy and he seemed excited to make my room as pink as possible. I paid him a little extra ($20) because he even painted the ceiling for me. Tidy, clean painter no botched trim around my wooden pantry shelves, he spackled holes, and painted over dingy old white paint and some new birchwood construction. It is so cute, lipstick pink sunny little room with a bright Italian tollware flower chandelier. Every time I do laundry or use the pantry its so sunny and and cheerful. I started keeping a few funky little toys on the open pantry shelf tucked in with the canned goods, that room has become its own little world within my house.

Great job top to bottom. Any bump in the road brought up by the inspector was taken care of immediately. Any small request made by me, the property owner, was taken care of. One of the workers took off my TV bracket to paint the wall and then could not find the missing pieces, which led to us having to buy a new bracket, but considering everything as a whole -- excellent job.

I purchased two "Big Deals" for CMS Handyman Service for $99 each. They were each valid for one room of painting, two coats of paint for a room up to 300 square feet. I've had poor luck with painters in the past but this company had good reviews on Angie's List and the price was about 50% of what is typical so I took the plunge. I could not be happier with the end result. Aaron Goss did a fantastic job and I was so impressed with his professionalism and skill. His prep work was the best and most extensive I have ever experienced, relieving me of the stress of worrying about paint splatters or spills on my furniture, floors, etc. He taped and/or covered every single surface that was not being painted. Rather than have him paint two smaller rooms, I had him paint my large living/dining room and it looks great! As I live in Palos Verdes Estates, Aaron had a very, very long drive, yet he was cheerful and full of energy the entire day. He was so polite and friendly that he made the experience fun. He went above and beyond what I expected (even helped me move furniture back in place) and I wouldn't hesitate to have him do more painting in the future.

We bought a $99 Angie's List deal from this company to paint an interior room. Prompt. Nice guy. Our biggest complaint is that he charged us $25 to tape and plastic the room prior to painting. This charge wasn't mentioned in the deal, and in my opinion this should be considered part of the service since it really should be done prior to any painting job. It felt like a hidden fee. The painting was okay overall. There was one area of the room which wasn't completely painted and I could see spots of the old color. I had to paint this area again on my own. I called because I was concerned about areas that seemed to be dripping. He said this would look better as the paint dries, and it did. I appreciate that he called later that night to make sure that it did indeed look better.

Professional, good communication, punctual and clean. I would definety use their company again.

The story is too long and drawn out, but in a nutshell... Mike was terrible in getting back to me to coordinate the work. Mike finally came over on 13JUN to perform a pre-work inspection. After the inspection Mike and I agreed to the areas that would be painted based on the price of the Angie's List Big Deal. The work was to include high pressure wash, wood treatment as required, sanding, priming and a double coat of paint. After numerous attempts to coordinate with Mike to have the work done, he finally came over on 26JUL. To my surprise Mike arrived with 2 men, his dog and himself. Mike stated instead of 2 men at 8 hrs., it would now be 3 men at at a little over 5 hrs. of work. Mike tied up his dog in the front yard and the 3 men began to work. Mike asked if he could trim a bush that was partially covering a window. I provided Mike with a trimmer and agreed he could trim the bush. Instead of trimming the bush, Mike tore the bush apart with no consideration of the bush's appearance. Mike and his men began sanding the trim of the house. I asked Mike what about power washing the work areas first. Mike said he didn't have the power wash because he lent it to his son. The 2 men, who were a father and son team worked hard and did a nice job. I wish I could say the same for Mike. I could hear Mike cursing to himself as he kept making mistakes painting the front door area. I didn't appreciate this since I have 3 young children ay my house. After they left, I observed white paint from the trim work Mike did on the blue areas surrounding the trim. Poor workmanship to say the least. At one point, Mike left my house for just over an hour without telling me. When I asked where he went, he said to purchase wood putty. There is a Home Depot 10 mins. from my house. There was no reason for Mike to have been gone that long and taking work hours away from the project. It should be noted that Mike's dog is a small breed and appears to be old. The dog appears tame and has a quiet disposition. Mike said the dog goes to work sites with him all the time and is never a problem. Based on what he said, I was comfortable with his dog being on my property. My daughter who is now 5 years old, went to the front yard and came back in crying. She said Mike's dog snapped at her and bit her finger. The skin was not broken, but I was rather surprised by Mike's cavalier attitude about what happened. Mike asked to see my daughter's finger and said, "she'll be fine". Arround the 5 th hour of work Mike began telling his men to pack-up to leave. I noticed the work we agreed on was not completed. Mike said, I got to make money on this project and could not afford to pay his men past the 5+ hours he quoted when he arrived. I reminded him that he agreed to complete the work in advance. Mike extorted me and said if I wanted the agreed upon work completed, it would cost me another $240.00. Having no choice, I agreed to pay. I told Mike as an Angie's list customer my review would reflect his service and professionalism. He said, "you're not going there, are you?". So much for my experience with CMS Handyman Service.
